Thoughts on the Jets?

I hate the friggin Jets and all, but dude, you live in an imaginary world. If threw at least four picks, the stats this morning would have said 4 INTs. Coulda, shoulda, woulda.

True enough. It's like all those TD's that woulda been thrown if they hadn't been picked off.

Why would I 'admit' something that's not true? He threw at least 4 picks, but the Texans only came up with one of them. He was terrible throwing outside down the field, and his deep touchdown pass came off a broken coverage. He was so shaky at the start of the game that the coaching staff had to change the passing plan and go to screen plays repeatedly so that he could complete passes and gain some confidence. Had the Texans not screwed the pooch on those picks, that would have been a completely different game.

He played like a first-game rookie, and there's nothing wrong with that. Making it into something it wasn't is not necessary. Just enjoy the win and expect that your QB will improve over time. That should be enough to make you happy for the potential future, and you shouldn't need to blow Sanchez' performance up into something it wasn't.

Because Brady never threw any screen passes when he saw his first NFL action, they just let him loose and asked him to throw 35 long bombs a game. That's Riiiiiiiiiiiiiich.

Yea, he did throw them, straight to Huston, and they were dropped. Mabye it is woulda coulda shoulda, but either way he made the bad throws.

I gotta give Jets fans a bit of credit with imagination on this one, LMAO....... Check out the Brady image, LOL!

the unofficial 'Tom Brady is shaking in his boots' thread - Jets Insider.com Forums - Post 3254011

I kind of enjoy it, its fun when the jets do good their first game, it gets their fans all excited and then when they lose, they ALL turn on their team so fast its just fun to watch. Trust me, next week at 4, go over to the jetsboard and just read, you will not be let down.

Are you people all blind or just ridiculously knee jerk?

He WAS a first-game rookie, and that's how he played. Quit acting as if I just insulted him by calling him a typical Jets fan or something else horrible like that.

New England had a different game plan in 2001-2006 than in 2007. It did, in fact, involve liberal use of screen passes which served as part of the running game. The difference is in the reasoning. The Jets went to the screen passes because Sanchez was trying to play catch with the Houston defenders and the Jets coaching staff smartly saw that they needed to make the adjustments before it was too late.

Nah.... I have critiqued Sanchez, but it's not as if he stunk out the joint. He wasn't "scary good" by any means. However, he was good moving in the pocket and he was able to capitalize on Texans screw ups. If he gets crushed next week, people will put it down as a learning experience.

Fortune could have given left him with another pick or two - true enough; on every play in every game, that's true enough.

What gives me most encouragement about Sanchez, though, is his poise and efficiency on 3rd down. I think in each of the Jets scoring drives, he made something out of nothing, while under pressure, and kept the chains moving. That's where the typical rookie quarterback will tuck it and run or go down. He didn't. It's just one game, and I have no doubt that he will have 4-pick days. But the presence and poise he had under pressure showed that he's capable under center.

I didn't break down the "each of the Jets..." part that way, so I can't comment on that. I thought his movement in the pocket was very solid. He needs to work on a lot of things, but that ability should really help him if he can keep it together. He made some very bad throws, but that's what rookies do in their first games. Why people seem to think pointing those throws out is a reason to get the dander up is a matter for their psychiatrists to confront.

As for 4-pick games, he was no Cutler, and I think we can all agree (and laugh together) on that!

P.S. Welcome back

I think those that hate the Jets are going to be biased in their opinion saying the Texans are no so good,Schaub sucks ect:

The bottom line is the Jets sent a rookie QB on the road playing against one of the best DL in Mario and he played well, the OL played superb, the Defense was lights out.

Lets stop the biased childish crap and just be man enough to say that they played very well and won convincingly and will be a good challenge next week ,o.k.?

Brady and Moss put up two touchdowns in the first quarter and fatty's kissing the rings shortly thereafter. As a Jets fan I think it's ridiculously disingenuous the way you guys carry on. Eat poop and die.

Exactly my thoughts. I thought the Jets D was very stout and Sanchez demonstrated some very good traits in moving out of the pocket.

Our short week is worrying me now but why the heck am I getting ahead.

I am right now getting worries about the bills.

GO PATS!!

So after tonights nailbiting victory, any worries about the Jets next weekend? They have a better offense, and a much better defense.

Lots of worries, now that we can look forward to the next game. We won't win if we make the mistakes we made tonight. But then, it's a different game.

Actually, I think this nailbiting victory will be much better for the Pats than if they had blown the Bills out as most people expected.

I'm not sure Brady's going to throw a pick 6 to Kris Jenkins next week. That was almost the difference tonight.

Better offense? Did they trade for Larry Fitzgerald without any of us looking. Brady, Moss, Welker smoke the Jets' offense.

Hey, but congratulations on winning the Week #1 Super Bowl.

Too funny. The Jets have a better offense than the Pats. Yes, and the Lions are a Super Bowl contender.

PS I am concerned about the Jets, but the Jets having a better offense is laughable. I don't see the Jets being able to do what Brady did at the end of the game.

The way I see it is the Jets will be on their high horse, but the Pats should be able to shore up a few issues from tonight for next week. It will be a good game no matter what (as long as the Pats win :))

how you forget the ravens battering matt sanchez a few weeks ago. you beat one of the worst teams in the league and all of a sudden you are better? i i'll reserve my judgment for matt sanchez when he plays and beats a real team. right now he's just a pretty boy who hasn't won anything.

Better offense than the bills buddy ;) was not talking about the pats.

We have two pro bowl runners on our side, something the bills didnt have although youd think they did the way they were moving the football.

Hes won his first game, on the road, not done by a rookie since 2001, played like a veteran, good stuff so far. We didn't just beat the Texans, we made them look like a high school team. Held them to 38 yds rushing, less than 200 total yards, almost 40 minutes of possession, 0 points scored on offense, they only got into jets territory 3 times, Schaub was on his back a third of the game. Jones averaged over 5 yds a carry after early struggles but nabbed 2 TD's. Even against a below average team its hard to rack up stats like that. Lets talk about the patriots now, at home against a team worse than the texans! and they almost lose the game, The bills snatched defeat from the jaws of victory today.
