Bryant's the only real major surprise. I hope they've got another corner already in mind.
My guess is the guy they have in mind is Wheatley, I don't think they trust anyone to come into this newer system (Capers has to be here for a reason, and Law didn't play under him) fresh and start, so my guess is Wheatley starts with Hobbs, but there is a little part of me, seeing just a few plays, that whispers that during this year, Wilhite might pass Wheatley (both as he gets healthier and learns the system better). It might be next year not this year, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Wilhite is actually going to make us happier than Wheatley in the long run. And I think we're going to like Wheatley, I'm not knocking him at all.

This is the screwiest looking roster I have ever seen. Seven wide receivers

plus two others who play wide receiver/defensive back. Of course, this

is eight days before the game and I expect some tweaking will be done before

then. Maybe the Pats will pick up a wide receiver or two.

There WILL be some tweaking....as of now besides Bryant CUT,,,CH Jones MAKING IT...only 8 OL...and 3 tackles...THAT is a BIG surprise...temporary...

Re: Patriots make cuts

Gutierrez, Spann, Redd, Richardson, Stupar, 3 players we didn't have in camp, at least 2 of which are linemen.

EDIT: not sure on Stupar's eligibility, actually. Oh well.

Stupar is a rookie.

I'm not saying that you're wrong, but I can't see them going with just these 3 corners. Hobbs has shown the ability to play hurt, but he's also shown that he gets hurt. As of right now, if Hobbs goes down, you can start looking at 67-64 types of games.

Thought Bryant might have been kept for depth/experience at Corner.

Id either have a heart attack or would have ripped all my hair out by week 3 if that happens lol.

I think L. Sanders is probably 3/4 swing guy as Wilhite gets healthy, with Wilhite replacing him as the season progresses and he gets a better feel for the system. I feel goofy saying it, but something about his footwork, his presence around receivers makes me feel like he's going to be special (edited: meaning Wilhite not L. Sanders). No evidence, I'll be the first to admit it, just something I feel is a possibility. I just don't see Law coming in over Bryant at this point, though I could be wrong.

Bryant must have really screwed the pooch to lose this gig. Webster's probably wishing he'd practiced on one leg.

:)

Yep, it's a weird, unbalanced roster. Reading deep into the tea leaves, some wild speculation on what it could all mean...

- Welker and Aiken aren't ready for week 1?
- Pats were already in negotiations with Willie Anderson before cuts announced?
- Pats were already in negotiations with Ty Law before cuts announced?

Regardless, it's hard to imagine that CJ Jones lasts the season on the 53.

BTW, a big congratulations to a terrific rookie class!

Espically with Capers his coach on the squad.. He got burned a couple of times against Philly and some against Balt, but I thought he still deserved a roster spot..

Than again this is not like we let lawyer milloy go in 03..

I agree. These guys really impressed me. I've never heard of any of them before they were drafted, but their hard work, skill and intelligence have impressed me. Wilhite was the lone wolf of the bunch for me because I hadn't seen him play yet. I liked what I saw against the Giants. That kid has some hustle. Our entire rooky class has that, even the UDFAs.

LOL I agree, I had very high hopes for Bryant (he's an ex-client and still a client of a buddy) especially with the Capers factor, this surprised me immensely. Quite frankly a blindside for me, I was one of those, like you, that thought it was mostly scheme that made him look "iffy" in preseason and figured that was just how it was shaping up. But I do think this says good things about W&W, both of their ability and learning curve for the playbook; heck, BB made Earthwind and Poteat look acceptable, these guys have some skills, imagine what it could be like for 3-4 years...

Question for any of you. The Pats cut 14 people. Faulk is

suspended for the first game. Is there a roster spot open?

Oh, man.....

"They hate their coach!"

Wow. So who here called the Pats keeping all of Ventrone, Slater, and Jones?

Nobody, I presume.

I had Slater. I thought that Ventrone would make it if AIken was put on the IR.

No way Jones should have made this team. He must have compromising pictures of BB....

Nope. BoR has the 53 man roster in post #97. Faulk is #54.

nope faulk makes 54

Ageed, So was DE Jerome McDougal who has looked great, would not mind him, TEs Pociak, Chris Wilson. OT Todd Wade and Willie Anderson.
How about a trade for available OT Max Starks and CB Lito Sheppard? These could be long term value.
DW Toys

Todd Wade? Did Wade play for the for one of the woeful Dolphins teams?

No thanks.

Sheppard may not be on the block anymore. Hadn't heard that Starks was on the block. Kris Wilson almost a pure blocking back. He was taken after Ben Watson and was supposed to be better than him..

maybe the porno Patsinsider spoke of:D
