While everyone is looking at the D backs... what about the O line?? That is thin with 8...and with only 3 tackles...NOT happening.. Hochstein Connolly and Britt..backing up teh starters...so someone else will come in...OR... a move to be made.

Had high hopes for Hobson, guess he did not "get" it..

Mike Richardson is another one..

I noticed this too. Isn't Hochstein injured too? We could get Neal back in game 7, but that's a long time to go with little OL depth.

Wow. So who here called the Pats keeping all of Ventrone, Slater, and Jones?

Nobody, I presume.

In the preseason, there were a few instances where we had a dime set with four safeties and 2 corners. I can see that happening with Hobbs, Wheatley, Meriweather, Rodney, JSanders and Lynch. Meriweather I think will be used primarily as a safety, but I think will have some corner duties in certain packages.
I'm happy that both Guyton and Alexander made the team. I would predict we see a lot of Crable on third downs, because with only two corners, one of which who is a rookie, we will need to put a LOT of pressure on the quarterback.

We normally only activate 7 for a game. They'll wait till Neal gets back, cut Yates or Connolly, then sign a tackle.

If they can find one.

I think you presume right, I know I didn't! Lots of youth, lots of speed kept on both sides of the ball, and lots of versatility as well. Should be a fun year to watch, I know I'm looking forward to it!

I was thinking Slater had a very strong chance of making it (not a lock, but didn't think he would get cut), and Ventrone has proven himself useful. CJ Jones is the only one that surprises me out of that group, and I honestly think he's still going to get whacked sometime over the next two weeks. I liked the kid's potential as a kick returner last year, and he has shown up more as a receiver this year, but he's also had some fumbling issues on return duty.

Any chance we can get (or want for that matter) Willie Anderson who was cut from the Bengals today?

Just sayin but Chris Simms has been released.
Ageed, So was DE Jerome McDougal who has looked great, would not mind him, TEs Pociak, Chris Wilson. OT Todd Wade and Willie Anderson.
How about a trade for available OT Max Starks and CB Lito Sheppard? These could be long term value.

I'm hoping we have the cap space to bring him in. He would be an enormous upgrade over Kaczur.

I didn't. I thought that Slater would make it and maybe Ventrone. I didn't think that CJ would make it. But it's still early, anything can happen between now and opening day. The personnel at cornerback makes me nervous, though.

Looking over these cuts I'll have to echo what some others have already pointed out and say on paper the Patriots appear to be a little thin at CB.

1. Ellis Hobbs (Better than some people around here would like to believe)
2. Terrence Wheatley (who I actually think is going to develop into a very good CB)
3. Lewis Sanders
4. Jonathan Wilhite

They could use Meriweather, Slater or Ventrone as a Nickle in certain situations, so their depth might not be that much of an issue, if the unit can stay reasonably healthy.

I'll still be watching to see if they add another CB over the next week though.

Still think they pick up a CB. Slater played some CB against the Giants. He did not look bad. Perhaps he is CB #5? Maybe the have him concentrate on CB.

Could not see Alexander over Redd OR Hobson.

apart from the gutierrez cut i'm pretty happy with it, especially Braynt, the guy was just a crap shoot and i'm happy he's off the team,

Wheatley starting over Bryant makes you nervous? Isn't that a major upgrade with major upside?

He's a rook, he'll struggle at times, but he'll learn and grow, but I'll take that over a vet who no longer had it.

Bryant's the only real major surprise. I hope they've got another corner already in mind.

Delighted that CJ Jones made it.

My one worry is that the number of receivers could suggest a little bit of a lay off for Welker. Alternatively, could CJ be a later release (like when Faulk returns), to give him a better chance of making the PS?

Good news too that Aiken didn't head to IR.

I thought if CJ made it C.Jackson would not.

Looks like a youth movement.
