Not sure why he would comment on it..he like ESPN easterbrook and many have their agendas so if it doesn't fiit..they move on to another poor deadend point..THAT is what trolls always do....
As far as Easterbrook goes..is he really tied to Comcast?? I think IF that is true, that says a great deal about his agenda.. Maybe there are others??

I've got connections to Simmons, more or less. I'll see what I can get across.

Actually about 50% of the NFL teams have Jewish owners. So, I can't really agree with you there.
Really? Which ones?

Let's not forget the numerous ties, antagonistic and otherwise, between Comcast, Disney, and ESPN...it was only after Eisner's ouster in 2005 following Comcast's unsuccessful bid for Disney that Easterbook returned to Disney affiliate ESPN.

He joins Atlanta’s Arthur Blank, Oakland’s Al Davis, Tampa Bay’s Malcolm Glazer, New England’s Robert Kraft, Cleveland’s Randy Lerner, Philadelphia’s Jeffrey Lurie, Washington’s Daniel Snyder and the New York Giants’ Robert Tisch, who has a 50 percent stake in the team[/FONT]

If I hear that 75% figure misused again I'm going to go postal. Here is the quote from Specter's "fair and balanced" account of the Walsh interview:

Walsh was told by a former offensive player that a few days before the September 11, 2000 regular season game against Tampa Bay, he (the offensive player) was called into a meeting with Adams, Bill Belichick and Charlie Weis, then the offensive coordinator for the Patriots, during which it was explained how the Patriots would make use of the tapes. The offensive player would memorize the signals and then watch for Tampa Bay’s defensive calls during the game. He would then pass the plays along to Weis, who would give instructions to the quarterback on the field.
This process enabled the Patriots to go to a “no-huddle” offensive, which would lock in the defense the opposing team had called from the sideline, preventing the defense from making any adjustments. When Walsh asked whether the tape he had filmed was helpful, the offensive player said it had enabled the team to anticipate 75 percent of the plays being called by the opposing team.

Clearly the context of the 75% success rate was the 9/3/2000 (not 9/11) game with TB, not for all Patriots games in general. FYI, the Pats lost that game scoring 16 points. Don't have stats but know from nfl.com that Bledsoe threw for 216 yards and Dunn was the leading rusher in the game with 56 yards. So knowing 75% of the opponents defensive plays allowed the Pats to score 16 points and likely have under 300 total yards of offense. Color me impressed.

Now contrast that with how Easterbrook used the 75% stat...

Walsh told Goodell and Specter that a former New England quarterback said the sign-stealing operation allowed Patriots coaches to know an opponent's defense 75 percent of the time. Note that Goodell, in his news conference about Walsh, never mentioned this revelation. Specter had to point it out.

The words aren't incorrect but are totally deceptive. Let me translate:

"sign-stealing operation" = tape of a pre-season game against TB 2 weeks earlier
"an opponent's defense" = Tampa Bay's defense in the opening game of 2000
"former New England quarterback" = total guess by Easterbrook
"revelation" = minutia

I've seen the 75% statistic used in just about every conceivable context except the correct one.

You have my permission to go "Postal"! :D

Really P.R., can you imagine this mutt walking into the Cask and Flagon while we're there having a few brews? The truth is this clown probably lives in a bomb shelter somewhere out there in Bumfuk, Kansas.

Sorry to disagree with you but I think Easterbrook's anti semitism is part of his mindset when he writes the Good vs Evil columns comparing the good Colts and the evil Pats.

Now that joke I like. Nice one! :D

I met Mark Wilf (Zygi's brother and also a Vikings' shareholder) at a fundraiser at Gillette. Seems like a very nice guy.

Wow, strong words. Strangely enough I'd never considered that before, actually. I guess my retort would be that Easterprick seems to be much more anti-BB than anti-Kraft. But, you know, anything is possible.

Feel free to Google Easterbrook-anti semitism and read his article that got him fired from ESPN while Eisner was in charge of Disney. Apparently the current management at Disney isn't as sensitive. I think someone with sensitivity to the issue could sense it in Easterbrook's original Good vs Evil article. Its subtle but there.

Peel the onion, PJ. Tony Dungy is a "good Christian". Bill Belichick was hired by a Jewish guy. It's not hard to see his motivation.

I suppose so. I just have a hard time buying into conspiracy theories, being the cynic that I am. I hope Easterscmuck is just a douche and not an anti-Semitic douche.

Is he partial to the Colts? I haven't noticed. Probably because I ignore everything Easterdick- and Colts-related.

Easterbrook's past anti-Semitic behavior absolutely justifies any questions people may raise over his hateful obsession with the Jewish owned New England Patriots.
Bigots like Easterbrook don't change their stripes.

OT, and I apoligize if I have asked you this before, but how is it being a Pats fan half a world away? Does it make it any harder keeping up with things? I guess most news breaks when you are sleeping.

On the other hand, being able to sleep through the pre game shows must be great. We really don't have an option here.

I had to share this with you guys if you haven't seen it.

TMQ: Lifetime Ban for Belichick

Wow.
I wasn't going to reply to any more media/crapgate articles unless some big news broke, but 3 things prompted me on this one.
First off, Scott Benson is quickly becoming one of my favorite reads! I love his style and I love the fact he was foresighted enough to back up this article before ESPN took it down:D.
Also, interesting footnote at the end:
Footnote: In Friday's Washington Post, NFL reporter Mark Maske quotes former Giants quarterback Phil Simms contending that stolen signals are no guarantee of victory: "'I've been in games where we knew every signal, every call by the other team, and we still lost,' Simms said by telephone yesterday. 'We [the Giants] had the San Diego Chargers' signals in 1980. We knew every signal. We knew every play. We were calling out what they were going to do: 'Here comes this. Here comes that.' They still scored 44 points.'" After more Simms quotes, the article moved to other matters. Who was on the New York Giants' coaching staff in 1980? Bill Belichick and Ernie Adams.

The 'Easterbonker is bordering on insane' consensus has pretty much been covered here so I'll only add that I agree, and that I'm starting to wonder about the overall degree of hatred/vindictiveness/grasping for the limelight/whatever the word is mentality that's so pervasive lately throughout the media community.
For such a bunch of Dudley Do Rights, you'd think they'd present themselves as reasonable people rather than characters from the back wards of One Flew Out Of The ****oo's Nest. (I'll never forget that celeb website that targeted Brady-these women were actually going to stand outside his dad's Boston condo and protest, among other things which are sorta sickening to even mention. Creepy stuff).
Anyway... let's suppose BB DID resign, as Easterbonkers suggests. He proposes that if that happened, all would be well in the NFL and that Crapgate would be Over. I beg to differ. The resignation of BB would be like the shot heard round the world. Not to mention the sports media would no doubt believe they were instrumental in making it happen, therefore they'd feel even more empowered than they do already. That's the most frightening part of all.

In many ways this past year it's been nice. I basically have to seek Pats info, none is ever put out in front of me. So during this whole spygate travesty and in the aftermath of the Super Bowl, it was fairly easy to block out whatever I wanted to, as opposed to back home where I'd be inundated with it on TV, radio and the newspaper.

The 1 PM EST games are tough because they start at 1 or 2 AM here. But other than that, the later games are easy, and you're right, it is cool to roll out of bed just in time for kickoff.

A problem I have is that I sometimes miss the camaraderie of having fellow Pats fans around me, but this board has been GREAT to cure that problem.

The biggest thing I don't like about being here is that I don't get to many games anymore. Actually, last year I went to 4, but the commute to them was much longer than from Providence to Gillette.

(Today in a very "Chinese" part of Suzhou I saw a local woman with a "Yankees Suck" hat on. That made my day.)
