Shut up about Spygate!

The rules probably state that you can not use any methods that allow you to steal another team's strategems. I don't know but if this is such a big surprise why do coaches cover their mouths when they call plays?

But I don't think they do. This goes back to the fact that Pats were basically penalized for taping signals from the sidelines. Had they done it from the end zone booth it would have been fine.

Similarly, if someone was standing on the other sideline watching coaches and jotting notes it would be legit.

Pats were busted for location & medium, not sign stealing.

My God, this has gone way to far. You can't punish somebody for something and then decide your gonna punish them some more later on. The Patriots filmed some sidelines and possibly practices. Big Whoop! I remember the Dolphins doing something similar last year and that disapeared within a week. They shut out Tom Brady that game, how often does that happen? Sportswriters like Easterbrook can kiss my ass. It's their constant nagging that is turning this into a huge incident. The media coverage is ridiculous. You would have thought that we broke into a hotel somewhere.

I like Roger Goodell. The guy is covering our backs and for good reason. Because every team has a closet full of skeletons and it's not fair to single out only one. I wish he would just say what he's thinking to the press, "Listen you idiots. They will always be juicing and they will always be trying to steal eachothers signals and if you don't like that then go watch tennis."

Seriosly, who the hell is this Senator Arlen Specter? I know how concerned he probably is about proper justice in professional sports but perhaps he'd allow an investigation of his personal life. I kid you not, this guy tried to pass a bill that would "authorize warrentless surveillance under presidential authority" of US citizens. I'm sorry Senator, but I believe that's against the fourth ammendment, therefore unconstitutional and unlawful. I think somebody has his own Spygate to worry about.

Goodell's covering HIS back... but it just so happens that coincides with the Patriot's right now.

He made the Pats a sacrifical lamb earlier in the season in an attempt to act tough and make this go away.

When Specter brought it up he had no choice but to fess up that "cheating" is part of the game.

It's a shame. This will stick with the Patriots forever... they will be talking about this stuff come HOF voting time for BB.

This is a pretty incredible thread....outsider Charger fans spouting off from on high on the terribleness of a sideline camera when one of their star linebackers has been caught red handed using performance enhancing,ILLEGAL STEROIDS, which directly IMPACTED an entire SEASON of San Diego games to the ILLEGAL DETRIMENT of all the other teams they played.

Seems SD fans like to talk out of both sides of their mouths.

Joker, to date I've never seen you type a single sensible post. Read the entire thread, it was a discussion about how all misconduct should be brought to light, not just Spygate. And since you started harping on about a player's use of substances........uh, does Rodney Harrison ring a bell? But Im sure that has escaped your limited memory. So before you jump on people just because they're a Chargers fan, try to read a little first.

It really is bull****.

not one admission that YOUR "star" LB is a steroid abusing BLATANT CHEATER, an outrage FAR transcendant of Rodney using HGH to HEAL from injury. YOUR team obviously advocates using ANY ILLEGAL MEANS whatsoever to impact the outcomes of their games. You however, see this need on your part to log on to another team's board and spew your redundant vitriol out of some deep seated insecurity. Why else would you be here? We played the Chargers this season...they LOST...this seems to be lost on YOU since all you keep harping on every day here is some inconsequential camera placement in the first quarter of the first game of the season to which YOU ascribe this uber-importance, yet conveniently dodge, evade and eschew ANY Charger responsibility concerning the use of PERFORMANCE ENHANCING AND FULL BLOWN OVERT CHEATING steroids .

In essence, a hypocrite with a hypodermic stuck in his azz.

Actually, they won't once Walsh is proven to be a liar. Since Goodell stated to the entire NFL fan nation that ALL teams steal signals, this will go away. It had almost entirely gone away until the senator embaressed himself.

now the insane old coot will dodge his appearance on the D+C show and send out deranged memos about strange cameras following him around everywhere.

Yes. That's the key. Walsh must be discredited. I'm sure they are working on that right now. The troubling thing is Walsh has all these lawyers representing him. Who is paying those guys? Walsh has no money. I wonder if Specter is helping him.

actually, rodney is an ex-charger. obviously, he brought some bad habits along with him.

This spygate is getting out of control. Goodell tries to protect his own ars because it is his best interest to stop government from telling him what to do. If he doesn't resolve this issue, he will be in heap of trouble because he is going to have a hard time explaining to everybody about why the league has not done anything to prevent every football team from videotaping for years.

You haven't seen or heard BB say anything about spygate. If he goes down, he will bring other coaches with him too. Goodell doesn't want it to happen.

it is time to move on. Everything will be settled by the end of this month.

I agree with most of that. But what about this Specter guy? He was on WFAN in NY yesterday and said he is not letting go; he said he is going to talk to Goodell, Walsh and Martz. Specter doesn't care if BB takes down every other HC in the NFL. How are they going to get Specter off their backs?

He is talking tought but Goodell also has connections in Capital Hill too. All Goodell has to do is strike some deal with comcast which will tell Specter to back down. If your #2 contributor and other senators tell you to let it go, are you not going to do that.?

Specter needs the money and corporation's support and Goodell has plent of it. Of course, Specter will do anything to *earn* it if you know what i'm saying. Money talks in DC.

the rest will be history.

Understood. But what if Walsh has a tape. Then we are talking grand scale cover-up with all the big boys in DC involved.

I guess we will never know the truth.

08 is an election year and our senators will be busy finding money for their relection and party. Goodel has a lot of friends in Judicial commitee and that is how he gets his 'antitrust exemption ' deal.

Goodel will make sure that Spygate is a NFL internal thing because it doesn't do him any good to see this thing out of control.

if Walsh looks for 'blanket' immunity, he comes to a wrong place to ask for it because the only place where you can get your immunity is government. If patriots decides to sue him for any reason, NFL does not have the authority to stop it.

i don't know if he pays his own legal bill or not. He will try his best to settle a deal as soon as possible because the longer this thing goes, the more money he is going to pay for his lawyer and i don't think his current paycheck can afford that if this thing goes on forever.

If somebody helps him with legal bill and patriots knows about it, it's going to be bloody.

I don't think that NFL is willing to pay and protect him for a tape if he has it because Goodel doesn't think that his evidence offers anything 'new'.

if he has a tape, the first organization will contact him for a settlement is Patriots NOT NFL but you haven't seen that. Therefore, it's not going to happen.

Walsh is a looser in the end because he gains nothing.

This board is driven by the media ... it's kind of sad.

It wasn't like this when I came here in 2000.

No one in the media really cared about us then.

Wow, your grammar is simply amazing. I'm in awe, now try to stay on task and re-read the original post. It wasn't about substances was it? And just when in this thread did I judge the Pats for a camera? I must have missed that part. It was a friendly conversation with fans of the game, who mostly believe that ALL misconduct should be put out there and dealt with. Yet, you came blazing in with misguided attacks for some reason. If you choose to call out other individual players versus the conduct of your coach/team, then be my guest. Look, I don't condone anything Merriman did last year, but you look silly trying to do the same for Harrison. And by the way......"Uber-importance?" Get a grip.
