If I could have punched Chris Collinsworth in the mouth...

Not really, it was just his uncontained giddiness when we were down by 12. And to reiterate what I said before, I never disliked Collinsworth, although he can be a tad irritating at times but last night I was openly asking "what the hell is wrong with Collinsworth?" several times during the game. You would have thought that he had played for the Giants and was cheering on his boys the way he went on about them last night.

So, you would have liked to punch CC in the mouth just because he praised the Pats before the game but went gaga over the Giants as the game unfolded?

I am sure you would give credit to the Giants for playing a far tougher and tremendous game than what most of us gave them credit for, right? If no, I can see why you are miffed with CC.

But I think your answer would be yes.

If so, sorry dude, based on your response to an earlier thread, I thought you are quick to jump to conclusions. Now, I am sure.

Let's agree to disagree. :)

i thought they were very fair. I don't think i've ever heard more praise for a player in a game than brady last night - and he gets it every game.

Honestly, his two minute rant about Wilfork was sickening.

What a tool.

The Giants played a great game. Collingsworth has been clling the patriots the best ever (if we win out) for a very long time. Sure, the announcers were pumping the giants. There were glad that the giants played their regulars and put up a fight. It made for a great game.

I know the guy is not a Patriots fan, but he almost blew his load last night gushing over the Giants. It was truly a shameful display of Patriots hate. I never had much of a problem with him until this season.

Doofus, his job isn't to play cheerleader for the Patriots. The Giants played a very good game. What did you want him to do?

Nobody has said more positive things about the Patriots or Tom Brady than Chris Collinsworth and he started during week six.

Why don't you take your homer glasses off, maybe remove the tar and dust from them once a year or so?

So you think it looked good for Wilfork to do what he did?

Geezuz, have another gulp of Koolaid.

I thought Collinsworth was fine last night in terms of objectivity. He also bothers to talk about the game in more than just Maddenisms.

The broadcast last night was nowhere near as bad as that Monday night Ravens game with Tony Kornheiser and perma-guest Don Shula. I had to turn the sound off for that broadcasting debacle.

The announcers for last nights game wouldn't have been my first choice, but for those guys personalities, i don't think they could have done any better.

I really don't care what the media thinks any longer, as a Pats fan since 1970 I've seen it all good and bad usually more bad. To the media we were always the patsies the doormat of the league. The cheap stadium, the scandals just the bad things that would happen to this franchise. Remember even after being blistered by the Bears in the Superbowl the next day Borges, who else released a story about numerous players who were on drugs big time. For years we were laughed at and ridiculed and now they can't deal with whats going on with the Pats. The fact is Brady just turned 30 he probably has another 4-5 years playing at a high level and the team has a nice blend of veterans and young players. I'm going to enjoy this run as long as it last and you should too.

they can't..the "stats" won't let them

You're absolutely right. I didn't start following the NFL until the 1986 season, and it is only in recent years that I have had the internet and been more exposed to the US media (I'm from the UK). I totally agree about enjoying the run as it won't last for ever.

No, won't take homer glasses off...Love the Pats too much. Perhaps you haven't heard Collinsworth talking out of both sides of his mouth this season. I believe that he is impressed with the Patriots but deep down, has an unhealthy dislike for BB and the rest of the Patriots organization. He openly prompted the NFL to dish out more punishment for the videogate fiasco. Has said just about every week on "Inside the NFL" that there should be questions about if the Patriots won thier SB's on the level. While Costas without a doubt does not think much of the Patriots, Marino and Carter have been supportive of everthing about the Pats this season.

Furthermore, Collinsworth is not going to be a cheerleader for the Patriots as much as he was cheerleading for the Giants....The only reason he was complementing the Pats at the end of the game was because he was backpeddling as fast as he could when he realized the Pats were going to win the game.

After posting this thread, I questioned myself for over-reacting. So when I ran into my nieghbor, a huge die-hard Giants fan, I asked him what he thought of Gumbel/Collinsworth. He said he wanted to turn off the sound on the TV "When the Giants were up and the fruitcake Collinsworth was falling all over himself" Then a buddy called me and this guys a Colts fan and he's saying the same thing. He said that Collinsworth was "openly rooting for the Giants to win"

I believe had we lost that game last night, it would have been a bigger topic today. "Why is a nationally televised game analyst hoping the Giants beat the Patriots?" It was definately not as neutral as some here would say.

The problem with Collinsworth is its all about the history. He played for the Bengals and the view of the Pats when he played was that they were the big Pu***s of the league, which was confirmed by Bob Trumpy who also played for the Bengals. While doing one of his tv games a few years back he
made a statement about the perception of the pats when he played. These guys just can't believe that this franchise is winning the way they are and building a dynasty same for Tom Jackson a Bronco who would never lose to the patsies.

I would like to qualify my observations because I did not watch the live telecast in full and responded based on what I saw in snippets and read about the game. (Missed the game because I was traveling outside the country.) Sorry about that.

From a fan's point of view, I would have no problem when the announcers consistently praise the underdog opponent who plays very well and looks to score an upset.

Like some others, I tuned out of all the media after spygate broke out and I didn't even care about what these experts had to say. In fact, I like it when these guys keep putting us down! :D
