Many owners and many more fans have one idea of what it means to field a football team. They believe that everyone not in the playoff hunt should then move into the hunt for draft picks and tank. I get it.
There are others, including the league, the players assn, many owners and many fans who believe that there is a responsibility to try to win every game. There is a responsibility to give those paying to see the game the best product possible. To these folks, throwing a game is similar to throwing a fight. For me, it would be truly pathetic to watch the next game, knowing that both teams are trying to lose the game. Is that really what fans want? Really?
Yes, I understand not playing starters in order to rest them for the playoffs. Obviously, many don't like this either. I even understand weak teams giving their youngsters more reps to better evaluate them for the future.
my BOTTOM LINE
is simple. It is a violation of league rules and business ethics to intentionaly lose game. And, I believe that two businessmen we know disagree with you: Robert and Jonathan Kraft. Please believe that they know what is best for the value of their organization, the value of the league, and for the future of both. The patriots intentionally losing and even putting a poor product on the field is simply not acceptable.
Many media discussed out last game and the team's future in the last few days. What was clear was the embarrassment concerning the game, the worst of the week, and one of the worst of the year for any team. Kraft was embarrassment by having this in a game that Kraft has worked hard to make happen for a decade.
TO BE CLEAR
Playing to lose and expecting fans and the networks to pay to watch is NOT good business.
