The Media still HATES us even though we suck. Want Belichick gone bad.

Brady barely made it into the league in 2000 which was probably during the worst era for QBs in the modern NFL history. The late 90s early 2000s was an awful time for QBs. There were about 3-5 good QBs and a bunch of journeymen. That is why career scrubs like Kurt Warner and Rich Gannon were able to hang around long enough to become league MVPs.
Warner won MVP in his first full season starting and then again 2 years later. I wouldn't call either career scrubs. Both had injuries to deal with

And people say I’m crazy when I say this forum was infested in the 2013-2014 seasons with trolls masquerading as Patriot fans. There’s two of them right here lol.

This is just insane. Are you a Jets fan in disguise?

LOL! What? Contradicting ludicrous Brady fantasy fan fiction with facts gets you upset.

Again, it isn't Brady hating to deal with the realities of his early career and not creating a fantasy world about the guy like he is some kind of warrior from Greek Mythology.

I love Brady. He was the greatest QB of all time. But I don't live in a fantasy world where Brady was the GOAT the second he stepped foot on the field. Brady himself said it would have been a fumble if not for the rule. I am not saying anything controversial. But the rules are the rules.

I just said I've been here since the 2000's. I remember NEM and Weapunz...all that stuff.

Brady has more rings than any franchise and took his first his first year as a starter. There was a moment in time when he had played in 10% of all Superbowls. He was always that guy, in various forms, you just didn’t recognize it and inexplicably still don’t or don’t remember.

It’s okay, bro— people still put Peyton in their top 5. All is not lost.

I am wrong about Warner. He was an undrafted free agent in 1994. He didn't make a roster that year. Ended up working in a grocery store until he caught on he caught on with a team in the Arena Football League (now defunct). He was so good in the AFL that the Rams gave him a shot in 1997 with their team in the NFL's European football league (now defunct). He played well enough in Europe that they gave him a shot on their regular roster.

Even though I was wrong about Warner, he makes my point so much better than if he was a career scrub. Warner had to prove himself in two now defunct league before he was given a shot in the NFL.

As for Gannon, he was drafted by the Patriots and traded away to the Vikes because the Pats wanted him to play WR. He didn't play a game until three years later in relief of Wade Wilson who was injured. He played ok, but demoted to third string the following year. Played poorly in a couple of games in relief and was benched that year. Was traded to the Redskins and was mediocre before he got injured. Didn't play the following year. Spent two years on the Chiefs as Elvis Grbac's back up but played really well in a few games when Grbac was injured. Then he went to the Raiders eleven years after he was drafted.

Yawn, I already said Brady was the greatest of all time. But in 2004 he wasn't the best QB in the NFL. Back then, you won on defense. The defense carried the Patriots in the second half of 2001 and all of 2003 until the second half of the Super Bowl. And 2004, the Pats had a very balanced offense with Corey Dillon.

You obviously haven’t seen or don’t remember Brady in 2004 lol

I do. Apparently you don't. He awesome in 2004. But he wasn't the best QB in the NFL. He threw for 3629 yards, 28 TDs, and 14 INTs with a 60.8% completion record (in 2004, the completion percentages for QBs were lower than today). Meanwhile Manning passed for 4557 yards, 49 TDs, and 10 INTs completing 67.6% of his passes.

Manning was a better QB than him that year. Doesn't mean I would have taken Manning over Brady because Brady was a far better playoff QB than Manning. But it doesn't change the fact that Manning was better that season.

A fact? It was a rule that already existed and you act like it was some dumb luck. It was a rule the same way too feet in bounds for a catch is a rule, the same way ball has to cross the pylon to be a TD, etc. You act like everyone should bow down at the alter to Bill because the world never would have know Tom Brady if it wasn't for Bill. Or you hypothetical that if he was the exact same player in college in 2023 coming into the draft he would what? Be a late round pick? Go undrafted? That was basically the case 23 years ago so I don't know what your point is.

Yeah, and in 2013 Manning had “the greatest offense of all time” throwing bubble screens against hapless nobodies before skating past an injury-ruined Pats teams in the AFCCG to get ****ing humiliated by Seattle

It’s like a time capsule back to arguing with delusional fools-gold loving Colts fans.

He led the league in touchdowns in 2002. He was 6th in passing yards and 10th in TDs in 2003. He was 10th in passing yards and 6th in TDs in 2004. He was 1st in passing yards and 3rd in TDs in 2005. He was 7th in passing yards and 5th in TDs in 2006 with one of the worst offenses he ever had around him.

This revisionist history that Brady was just carried by his defense is the last thing Team Bill has to cling onto. Were the defenses great? Yes, of course, but so was Brady from the start.

More over, he was throwing absolute stunning DIMES into the breadbasket of NOBODIES for the clutchest ****ing comeback wins anyone had ever seen through out this entire process. He also lead the league in bombs in 2004, at least until very deep into the season. The dude was ****ing balling and Patriot nation was WELL into taking it to Colt fans about how Brady was superior to Manning with cause.

But here we are.

Rob is basically using the Colt/Packer fan stance where you get to spend all your money on offensive super stars, rack up stats against teams that will draft high and fire their defensive coordinators in March, and then blame “not having a defense” when you only score 10 points in the playoffs.

I swear people look at stats from 20 years ago and try and compare them to now and say "He never would have made it in today's NFL. He only threw 24 touchdown passes!"

Yes, it was dumb luck. And yes, it was in place and went against the Patriots in a game vs. the Jets. It was the correct call for a bad rule. It doesn't change anything Brady or the Patriots' legacy. The fact is teams benefit from bad rules and dumb luck is part of the NFL.

And stop giving me some hidden agenda. I only mentioned it because another poster that Brady was the most clutch QB in the NFL right from the start. The tuck rule play was an unclutch play by Brady in a big moment. There is nothing wrong accepting that. Doesn't change that Brady was the greatest of all time.
