Pats running game on pace to be the worst in the NFL in the last 10 years

Embarrassing. Almost as embarrassing as me predicting the Pats would win eight games this year

I think I might have to go back and edit that post...

You don't run the ball with a 30 point deficit at halftime because your QB threw pick sixes and allowed fumble scoop and scores.

Replace Mac with a capable QB, and the running game will improve.

It’s not the number of carries that’s the problem it’s is the yards. Seems like Rham is getting stopped for a bunch of negative plays per game. Dude has become a slow Maroney. No idea why. Feels like they might have hitched their wagon to the wrong back, as injury prone as Harris was.

Look, the first two games the offensive line was a mess. I said as much at the time.

Since week three the line has been healthier, a lot better, they ran decent in the first quarter until our QB spotted the opposing team 2-3 scores.

The only reason our offense has as many rushing attempts as they do, the alternative is allowing Mac Jones to throw more and he is a human turnover.

This is football, nothing happens in a vacuum.

That explains number of carries not yards per carry.

Also your boy Zappy Smurf is complete trash. Doesn’t belong in the league and never did. So you can stop thinking he’s good.

Thus endeth the football 101 lesson for today.

Defenses are playing up to the line of scrimmage because your boi Mac cant throw deep.

The 2003 team averaged a garbage 3.4 ypc and allowed 32 sacks. Terrible line, no notable receivers. Must have been Bill’s coaching that the offense miraculously finished 12th in scoring…just ask the cult.
No it was the 41 takeaways, 5th best average starting field position and 7 defense/st TDs.

Hows your research going on why NE did not run much vs New Orleans?

Football is situational. If you are passing effectively you run better. If you are behind and only run in obvious running situations you don’t run as well.

I don’t believe in overreaction or early reaction, but I’ve reached the point where it’s obvious to me Mac Jones is the problem. I’ve always felt he is indecisive and both gives up on routes before they develop and waits a beat too long from the optimal throwing window, but that’s a developmental thing. This year he just isn’t throwing the ball accurately. There are open receivers and he can’t hit them.
On the Montgomery pick on the surface how do you blame him but when you really look at the play he hung the ball up and let the defenders converge. It’s a great throw against air but he consistently chooses the touch pass over drilling it. It just feels like he doesn’t really understand what he is doing back there

You do know that crappy zappy is engaged right? So he’s not available. Must have been a tough pill to swallow…

Bill jettisoned the FB position a few years ago.
He completely ignored the 3rd down RB this year.

But.......
We've cornered the gunner market

The offensive line is Belichick’s greatest personnel crime this offseason. Everyone knew tackle was a major problem and it was not addressed. The OL has completely negated any semblance of a running game.
Malpractice what he did at tackle this offseason.

Sure, but that doesn’t explain Rhamondre looking a lot slower than he did last year. He’s become a slower Maroney all tentative and scared. I don’t think it’s injuries. It’s one thing to say they’re struggling because the passing game is in a rut and they’ve become one dimensional it’s another to see that to date they have the worst rushing offense among any team in the league in the last decade…

It’s the blocking. You can’t hit a hole fast when there’s no hole.
You envision him running up the middle and bursting into the second level. You can’t do that when there is no hole. What do expect a rob to be when there is no hole? He better look tentative because otherwise he is run in into a pile

It seems like he is hit as soon as he gets the ball though.

The OL is honestly the biggest culprit of this whole offense. 32nd in pass protection and run blocking

Teams aren't afraid of Mac beating them so they can freely stack the box. Another issue is our TEs.

If Mac didn't throw that fake "Tush Push" toss at his face he might have ran that one in for a TD yesterday.
