NEW ARTICLE: Patriots Insider: Collective “Rolling of Eyes” at Gillette Over Ongoing Bill Belichick/Mac Jones Situation

Judge wasn't only given a new role, but he was given a promotion at least in title.

And there were reports that Jones and Hoyer had to teach Judge and Patricia the offense. How can you be coached by a guy who knows less about your position than you do? And by the reports, Judges thought he knew more than everyone else about everything.
Yes that right, however I read judge will be the assistant to the HC, and special teams advisor. Last season he was the QBs coach if you want to call him that...

So he was taken off the offense and his role is projected to be handling contracts, I.E. similar role to what Patricia held last season.. as well as some facet of special teams.. your right I mean how can the student's know more than the teacher.

Can relate that to everyday life if employees know more than the boss about the job, then the boss won't be respected, and or taken seriously. I feel just going based of judges attitude and bravado you can see he has an attitude and ego problem. I'm happy BOB will be the OC and QB coach as well.

If not that, at least post some pictures of Lily!

For that to happen someone needs to figure out how to work Aaron Rodgers into this conversation. Because without a mention of Aaron Rodgers @Steve:Section 102 and @RobertWeathers aren't going to post Lilly pis, they only trot Lilly out at the mention of Aaron Rodgers. So if you can figure out a way to work Aaron Rodgers into this thread that clearly has nothing to do with Aaron Rodgers then the Aaron Rodgers threshold requirement will be met and we will get Lillly pics because Aaron Rodgers is being mentioned

I see what you're up to, buster.

It has to be organic. This is like a false alarm post. The only other exception I can envision is a thread dedicated to all things (pun intended) Lily. ;)

I've read the quotes and they read as if they're from someone who isn't in the inner circle, isn't a confidant of Bill's, because the person doesn't address the core issue, if the Simms/Florio plot line is true or not. They aren't adding anything to the picture, IMO. To me they do come across as a media member trying hard to keep this story alive as it fades into the noise. Perry would have been better off not trying to make a meal out of such scraps, but he too has airwaves to fill.

But what these sources are saying don't have to be in Belichick's inner circle to see what is going on. It isn't like they are saying what Belichick is saying in private away from what players and lower level coaches can hear.

I suggest you listen to Perry's podcast from last week. He doesn't seem to be just making media controversies. He even blames Jones for at least part of the situation he is in. When you listen to him talk about the situation, I think his sources come off as credible. It is the first part of his podcast.

There’s so many here in total denial about this, but success and power are hard things for people to keep under control. We see people in business, entertainment, politics and religion lose that battle all the time.

Bill lost his own battle with his success and power years ago. It’s an intoxicant that leads to irrational actions such as Butler, letting Brady out the door without a successor, and the whole Patricia-Judge fiasco.

The fact that Bill refuses to let go of his anger and resentment directed at Jones unfortunately shows last year didn’t humble him back to his senses.

The Krafts, like all of us should, must have a considerable gratitude to Bill for what he’s done for their franchise and our lives as football fans. But, there has to be a limit. I’m long past that limit myself. I see last weekend’s Lombardi comments and Reiss’ column as the Krafts again interceding to get Bill to walk back the anti-Jones sentiment Bill’s friends have been circulating.

This is not going to end well, I fear.

By all accounts, Phil isn't a pot-stirrer and he's pretty honest and isn't a sensationalist by any means. I believe what he reported. At the same time, I do believe that the "shopping" of Jones reports is something that likely happened a while ago and it's essentially new reporting of old news, which I mentioned in the bit I wrote about it.

I think teams, before making any QB or personnel decisions prior to free agency, checked the temperature of where Belichick was at with Jones and that may have been perceived as "shopping" him if he asked, "What are you offering?" but then said, "no" if it wasn't enticing enough to even ponder.

But I feel like that door is closed at this point, with the team instead moving forward to 2023. Yet the media reports, while potentially accurate in theory, may just be way behind the timeline of when all of this may have actually occurred. Or at least that's my opinion, which doesn't mean a whole lot, but whatever.

Well put!! As you perfectly stated. This Is the drawback when someone Is allowed so much power in a organization.

Analyzing RKs words from last year.. he mentioned Bill " earned" the right to do things his way pertaining to the Judge & Patricia decision. He used "earned " with Brady when he left as well.

Just thought I'd mention that.. so for Bill how much earned equity does he have left? As Curran put it he has to knock this years draft out of the park and the team has to win or else things could be different come next off-season.

Hence the reason I started out by saying "For that to happen someone needs to figure out how to work Aaron Rodgers into this conversation."
For instance if I were actually trying to start a Lilly-a-thon I would have posted something like: 'Enough already, this ******** at QB has gone on long enough. BB just has to pull the trigger on a deal for Aaron Rodgers that includes shipping Mac out."

But what these sources are saying don't have to be in Belichick's inner circle to see what is going on. It isn't like they are saying what Belichick is saying in private away from what players and lower level coaches can hear.
I wrote that this adds nothing to the picture, so can you tell me why this is adding something to the picture? People inside the building but not in BB's inner circle also see Simms and Florio tweets and know the local media's current plot line -- I think we already assumed this, especially in the deep off-season. They roll their eyes. So do we. What is Perry's reporting adding to the picture?

I have listened to the Curran/Perry podcast a lot in the past, and it's good when they talk about on-the-field stuff but it's awful when they discuss the latest off-the-field, mostly media-fabricated plot lines. It has shifted to the later more and more especially as the two have gotten their faces on TV more and more, and it got to the point where I was deleting more podcasts than I was listening to, so I just unsubscribed.

“What I’ve been told from a variety of different folks — with the team, formerly with the team, understanding of the situation, watching the situation from afar — they will put it very plainly: They don’t believe Mac Jones was being coached last year, so Mac Jones reached out to people for some coaching.

“The rolling of eyes that I hear is when that situation gets laid out … people look at that and say, ‘OK, I get it. You’re not looking for your players to do that. But he wasn’t being coached. He sought out coaching, and now he’s the problem? What are we talking about here?'”
This is totally ridiculous on so many levels...

A) Mac Jones "wasn't being coached last season"? Really?? I mean WTF, this is total nonsense.

B) Mac Jones "reached out to people for some coaching"? WTF! His head coach is BILL BELICHICK. He was assigned an OC and QB coach. A player can NOT go outside of the team structure for "coaching" especially in the midst of a season. It's nonsensical again. Maybe he did it, I don't know, but it's preposterous either way.

C) If Mac did it then of course Belichick is pissed off. I get it, Patricia is a complete loser, and so is Judge, Belichick made really bad decisions putting these clowns in vital positions, but it was his decision to make, and the quarterback especially has to buy in if there's any chance for success. Mac's not buying in, not fully engaged with the team, and not acting as a team leader by reaching out for coaching outside of the organization. Especially for a second year player, this is a major no-no.

Which again points out all we know of BB being "pissed" comes from Chris ****ing Sims.
Not true. We have an unnamed source(s) according to credible guys like Albert Breer or Phil Perry that Bill is pissed that Mac went outside the organization, probably to his college coaches, during the dysfunction last year. Holding a grudge.

That might work, but if you, specifically, did it, I would know what you're up to.

I actually did think of starting an "all things Lily" thread in the pub, but I do think it's more fun to hijack threads when it's becomes Rodgers centered.

Perhaps not necessarily this thread but most decidedly this subject is in need of a fatal hijacking

Perry addresses the shopping thing in his podcast. He basically says what you wrote. He states that Belichick probably did an evaluation of Jones early in the offseason and may have questioned whether he is the guy for this team long term. Perry states that Belichick may have even taken a few calls on Jones or spoke to a few teams sending out feelers, but shopping is too strong.

And Perry said his sources within the team expect that Jones will be the starter in 2023 and even if there is a QB competition between him and Zappe that there really won't be a real QB competition. His sources do not think Zappe is good enough to take the starting role from Jones.

In the video Zappe's posted throwing with Thornton, his release hasn't changed. I don't know if he has the resources to work with a throwing coach, but there hasn't been much of a difference. He does seem like he's put on a little weight and added some strength, but he definitely still looks like he's not quite there yet. Although it's only April, still a few months for that to change.

Yeah, this whole thing feels like it's old news getting regurgitated because there's nothing new to discuss. The fact that he's in house is good, but to be expected from my point of view. I mean, the guy is a third year player with a new OC, of course he's here. Brady would be here with a new OC, so it's not really news IMO.

I'm confused. Based on Phil perry's comments about the players... it seems like the idea that Mac was being shopped around isn't/wasn't entirely false?
