Well, it is the difference between small market writers and big market writers. When you are a small market writer, you can get away more with being a homer. I do think our columnists do apply opinions, but don't go over the top like this.

Kind of like those pros at WEEI!

I don't think you have been reading him as long as people from Indy have, he rarely says anything good.

Yeah - he's the Indy version of Borges - not a fan favorite among Colts fans...

Still even though he's poking fun at the Pats and seems to overlook Polian's "Break his legs" comment about Flutie (can anyone imagine Bob Kraft making such a mean spirited comment?) its a pretty funny read:

The undefeated and unchallenged New England Patriots added 12 more touchdowns and a two-point conversion, taking advantage of the fact the Washington Redskins had departed on their charter, nudging out a closer-than-it-looked 136-7 victory.

When asked later about the accusations of piling on, Patriots head coach and team videographer Bill Belichick said, "No lead is safe in this league. What do you want me to do? Kick a field goal?"

Kravitz is the guy who inserts Peyton Manning's tampon. Too bad his knee pads gave out!!

That about sums it up. Kravitz is a huge Colts homer, who actually has the stones to accuse some of the most critical and mean spirited sports media in the country (if not the world) of pom pom waving. A major lack of perspective.

Really? People usually post Kravitz articles over here when he's ripping the Colts - which seems to be somewhat often.

Go back and read what he wrote before the 2003 AFCCG. Go back and read what he wrote during Manning's 2004 season and what he wrote before and after last year's Super Bowl. I hear this from Dolts fans all the time, yet the proof is in the pudding. He does go negative, but usually after they lose a big game.

I've just never heard, at any time over the last 10 years or so, any Colts fan saying anything good about him... let alone that he's a homer.

They seem to detest him as much as folks around here can't stand Borges.

But maybe I'm wrong and Indy fans also think Borges is a homer who only says good things about the Patriots.

I think you'll find fans often hate/resent/loathe those in the local media who write about their favorite team. Given that, their perspective as Colts fans reading Kravitz is somewhat irrelevant.

My only objections were this:

"Even the New England media -- a group notorious for its pompom waving"

Which is the product of a seriously misinformed mind.

and this:

"-- saw fit to grill the Dear Leader the past two days."

Which is far far over the heads of 99.9% of his chicken-fried steak eating audience.

I wish the Boston writers liked the Pats as much as Kravitz likes the Colts. This guy must read TMQ.

My personal favorite

That's why it's incumbent upon the Indianapolis Colts -- those Beacons of Purity in heavenly conflict with the Forces of Pure Evil -- to not only beat the favored Patriots, but humble them, humiliate them and take their camcorder from them.

Don't let him fool you, he usually don't have alot of good things to say about the Colts, he is pretty well the most hated journalist in Indy..

By the way, Kravitz should ask Jets fans if they think Mangini is "right thinking".

You obviously don't follow things in Indy very closely. Kravitz nickname on the Colts board is Crapitz as fans see him as always being contrary and negative. He is definitely not a homer. He will praise and criticise equally well. Now Bob Lamey is a homer.

Is there a resident Bulletin Board Maintenance guy? Please be certain this is posted in the NE locker room, as it will provide even MORE motivation for the Awesomes!!

If the Pats need motivation from a sports writer, they are in big trouble.

I read that yesterday, the funny part is when he says that New England has the Pom Pom waving media. RRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGHHTTT.....

I'd take serious issue with anyone who refers to Ron Borges as a "homer" - and I suspect the Colts fans feel similar about Kravitz, as confirmed by Colts fans in this thread.

The only articles I've read by Kravitz have been ranking on the Colts - and I've read quite a few... I'm not saying 100% of what he writes is negative - but go to the Indy Star Colts site, refer to Kravitz as a "homer" and see what reaction you get there.

I think you'll have a lot of them

Like I said, just about every local fan loves to hate their local scribe. It's the American way. Therefore, their perspective is common and really doesn't matter.

All I know is every time I go over there, often when the Colts are weeks away from playing the Pats, he's pumping sunshine. And actually, it's not so much that he's a Colts ball washer (which he is), it's that he's a Manning ball washer in particular.

Now, I admit he can be critical when they lose a big game. And when I say critical, I mean really critical. These people would get upset over anything he writes about the Colts that isn't overwhelmingly positive. For instance if he says the only thing that wasn't super duper about the Colts killing New Orleans in the opener was the slow start by the Colts, but says a bunch of great things about the team along the way, it doesn't matter to them, it's all of the sudden a negative column because he wrote they had a slow start.
