Patriots Defense needs major work

It's the frigging 7th week of the season and the defense has steadily gotten WORSE. Belichick didn't have time to focus on getting them to improve before now? Defense stinks because they lack speed, sure tacklers and real talent beyond the Dline and apparently Belichick's "schemes" cannot hide those deficiencies any more.

What is that saying, the best defense is a good offense - I think that is part of his scheme this season. Last week they held down the top rated offense in the league. This week they coasted against the worst team in the league. Some of you really don't have a clue, not to mention you have some sort of subconscious vendetta which is why you only show up in this forum when you think you have an opening to biatch. Your basically a stealth troll.

I'm in awe of how stupid people are being right now. Clearly some of these "pats fans" don't even understand basic football. When you are up but 34 points at halftime, you want only to eat the clock. Do you really think that if the game was even remotely close they would have put up 21 points on us? Take your meds.

Do you ****ing ******s watch the same game as the rest of us?

Our defense stopped playing at the half......... to avoid injury. I hate stupid fans.

LMAO, at the irony of you calling anyone a "******" and then following up that comment with one of the stupidest things ever said. Since when do the PATRIOTS D "stop playing" when there is still a half of football left? Since when does Belichick (he of the, injuries happen in football), advocate playing soft to "avoid injury"? Guess you weren't on the bandwagon of "Vrabel was playing till the whistle" on the "is Vrabel dirty" thread, right?

By the way, what's your excuse for the atrocious defense in the FIRST HALF? You know, when Ronnie Brown was running at will and Cleo Lemons was 7/7 because receivers were WIDE OPEN? Guess the awful D was also because they were " trying to avoid injury" then too, right

Can we agree the defense needs to get better..get off the koolaid be critical if you can..If the Patrs D does not improve there will be no superbowl anyone want to dispute that..

Patriots Defense needs major work.I love the offense but the defense is awful

Sorry spinb it any way you want it the D is terrible....

Sorry, but have you had your brain examined lately?

Uh oh...you are in for it....don't put humble pie in most of these mouths out here......!!!! We got the win by a longshot......NEVER any question to that......BUT YOU LISTEN TO BILL B.....and he will not be happy....giving up 28 points to Chet Lemon and this deploreable team.....he won't be totally happy....
I'm not comfortable with Matt Cassel at backup QB......will be interesting in what BB thinks...

We could have won 100-0, with 20 sacks, 10 picks, and four defensive TDs, and BB wouldn't be happy after the game. He's not happy unless he's lifting the Lombardi, so I don't think you can really use him as a fair metric to judge by. Also, they gave up 21 points to "Chet" (it's Cleo) Lemon, with two of those scores in garbage time. The other 7 were defensive, but you'll never hear the ridiculous, stupid, "deploreable" sky-is-falling crowd mention that. The Patriots defense got destroyed by the Dolphins, what are we thinking by putting it in context.

Its official people are idiots! Defense plays great in the first half and then come out flat, up 42-7 and give up 2 TD's and they are terrible yup! How will we ever win another game????

I'm only worried about the red zone defense. Field goals instead of touchdowns would be nice, especially against the Colts offense.

Here's the difference, I'm a fan, not a player, not a coach. I don't HAVE to sit there and dissect every play to learn from, I'm going to be the same fan next week as I was this week and 20 years ago. I actually have confidence that the coaches know what's going on and can and will fix it if it's broken. I can enjoy the win just like in 03 when they we're winning 9-6 over a crappy Browns team I didn't panic about the offense, or in 04 when they actually gave up the same 28 points to Miami as today and LOST on their way to a 14-2 season and their 3rd Super Bowl run.

Yeah, I will dispute it. Your point is STUPID. Stop evaluating the defense by what happens in a huge blowout in their favor.

PANIC!!! :bricks:
a) The whole second half was trash time.
b) Give the other team some credit.

Some of the worries are logical but kind of blown out of proportion at this point. The one thing that is a genuine concern is where Brady either scores extremely fast or if the special teams make a huge play, the defense gets winded when they're out there for what is nearly two consecutive drives.

I think they'll iron it out, there is too much talent on that side of the ball for any problems to persist for very long.

Not to mention Refs stopped calling holding in the second half. The TD run at the end almost resulted in Rodney playing without a jersey. We missed tackles and let up on the intensity; that might be normal with a 35 point lead, who knows, nobody else gets them.

It's week 7 and the defense is defintiely not in the groove. The run defense needs improvement, the pass defense does also. it's not how you are palying week 7 but in week 16.

this team is not done improving and the defense will get better.

You think this defense will shut down the Colts..wake the F&#$% Up

Thank you......I am off here for awhile after this post........but this is the main point....against the Colts it will be balls to the wall......and any layoffs ....or GETTING USED to layoffs is not going to get it done....Indy will be our biggest test with Pitt not that far behind.....will be very interesting.....

What do you think BB thoughts will be on this game will he call out the D...You better believe it..

Someone who understands my concerns..wake up

Like I said before, the Patriots could have pitched a shutout, scored four touchdowns on defense and put up 20 sacks, and BB would call out the D, and serve humble pie to everyone in that locker room. He is only satisfied when the Lombardi is being hoisted by his team. Don't use him to justify your ridiculous, ill-conceived point.

2nd half=pre-season. I dont know how much easier I can make it for these dumb dumbs to understand. If you think that was the Pats true run defense get help.

Anyone who doesn't understand the human element to both football and specifically defensive football isn't worth listening to. Telling someone to play with the same intensity when they're up by 35 points isn't enough to accomplish that goal.

And you're making the obvious mistake of extrapolating from this game to other games. We know we can tackle. Did we tackle well in this game? Well, no. Does that mean we will never be able to? Hopefully not.
