ESPN: "Don't be surprised if Bill Belichick doesn't last the season."

Well, I just called ESPN and cancelled my ESPN insider account. When they asked why did I ever unload. I said I will never visit their website or turn on their TV station ever again thanks to the smear campaign against BB. I said the guy who wrote this article is an anti-Semitic hack who I found utterly offensive. I said I was not the only one who felt this way.

Eh, whatever. They don't care. But it felt good.

Go, Bella :D

You mean Rich Cimini was wrong and BB didn't say that thing about Kerry Rhodes? ;)

No body can be on Bill's team anymore. He is taking his ball and going home!;)

But if you ask him he'll probably tell you that " some of his best friends are Jewish".......

Classic!!

I love when people start a sentance like that. Don't ya just brace yourself for the stupidness that is about to flow?

I am stunned that someone as smart as Easterbrook wrote such a baseless and completely libelous piece of poorly researched chicken guano. More than that, it is propaganda. Clearly Easterbrook, who has been known for his anti-Semitic harangues, and who has been merely forced to change to a more lucrative job as a result, fancies himself as a sports version of Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda minister, who chose to burn the truth and conduct pogroms against the innocent. Clearly he is channeling those vicious and evil forces now.

Each of us should write to ESPN and let them know that lies and more lies should not be permitted to exist under the guise of controversy; and although contrary and unpopular viewpoints are welcome, a man who cannot any longer form the most basic distinctions between felony activity and unsportsmanlike conduct, and who prefers dog-killing and animal cruelty to videotaping because of the risk that the NFL may lose money over the latter, can no longer be trusted to write for the public eye.

Greg Easterbrook is one of the stupidest human beings on the planet. How he can actually string together English sentences is beyond me because his reasoning skills are markedly worse that than parrot that died last week.

His writings should be looked at as the scrawlings of a precocious lemur. Only the lemur would know more about football.

Someone as SMART as Easterbrook???

Easterbrook was born in 1953 and grew up in Buffalo, New York. Easterbrook has a bachelor's degree in political science from Colorado College and a master's in journalism from Northwestern University. Easterbrook has been a long time critic of the Space Shuttle program, publishing an extensive criticism in 1980 in the Washington Monthly. Following the Challenger and Columbia disasters Easterbrook received attention for his belief that the shuttle program should be canceled.

In addition to his journalism, Easterbrook has published several books. His latest, The Progress Paradox: How Life Gets Better While People Feel Worse, was published in December 2003. The book focuses on statistical data indicating that Americans are better off in terms of material goods and amount of free time available but surveys show that they are not happier than before. Easterbrook argues that this has occurred due to choice anxiety and abundance denial.

Easterbrook has also written books on Christian theology, American football, and the environment, along with two novels. Some of his works include The Here and Now, Tuesday Morning Quarterback, Beside Still Waters, A Moment on the Earth, and This Magic Moment.

Easterbrook wrote multiple stories arguing that global warming was not happening, or at least that it was not a manmade problem. In 2006, he reversed that stance, writing that scientists nearly unanimously accept the evidence of an artificial greenhouse effect and that greenhouse gas emissions must be curbed.

Stop and reflect for a moment people. Given what you know about Belichick and the Patriots and contrast that with what you read about them in a concerted effort by the media to discredit EVERYTHING they've ever done. Then think about other issues like international and national news, science reporting (my particular field & beef) and how the media piles on wholesale and as a consequence of the 24/7 presentation of their message how everyone comes to believe the mainstream media viewpoint, except for a few. A sobering perspective on the sad state of journalism.

That's a most apt description of what passes for the mainstream media today.

Doesn't this guy rate cheerleaders and cheesecake in his column?

I actually agree with Easterbrook in that the league is being damaged by this, but where I disagree is that I hold the massive media overreaction more responsible than whatever it is Belichick supposedly did.

Someone as SMART as Easterbrook???

Well...perhaps I should say as cerebral, since much of what he says in this column is rather surprisingly knuckleheaded.

Changing one's opinion, on a matter such as global warming for example, is not a problem for me--I would hope that people who feel passionately about one thing would be willing to alter the opinion if confronted with new or better evidence.

However, you are right to point out that he clearly has a habit of speaking and writing without thinking. I did not know his publishing history--and it is pretty embarrassing.

Thanks for the info.

I think we all have to stop making ourselves crazy over every idiot article written by some idiot. Better to just ignore a lot of this, or give it a quick read and move on.

I thought it was tongue in cheek (he says near the bottom Moss's attitude change is the product of good coaching), but I never saw the humor slant. If it is serious, ESPN should set a minimum IQ standard for its writers.

Again, until someone can intelligently produce a theory by which videotapes allowed the Patriots to win, this issue will die. The Patriots fans circle the wagon and believe their perception of the event, and the media and other fans with contrary perceptions can whine and pine over their theories in the early offseason while the Pats work through the playoff rounds.

What I found troubling was the suggestion we cheated on last Sunday's win. the more I think about it....was that supposed to be humor? Because it doesn't read to be funny at all.

Can't be too long until someone suggests jail time would be appropriate.

.

This is your brain on drugs...

Great idea...do you have their phone number, I would like to call as well.

The only thing that would shut up jerks like this would be for the league

to have Belichick agree to a lobotomy to remove the part of his brain

containing his football knowledge. The trouble is Bill is a hell of a lot

smarter than all of his fellow coaches. Bill Belichick will be considered

to be a cheater by most of the media if he does not win all 19 of his games.

Sure.

1-888-549-ESPN

This is the number to call to cancel your Insider subscription. In order to cancel, you basically have to call....which I was only too happy to do.
