Prediction: Gronk won't get another contract with the Pats.

I think when someone can't stay on the field their preparation gets extra scrutiny. To me that means questioning his distracting celebrity and public binge drinking. Don't mistake this for hating on him. He's so good when he plays that it's very easy to overlook those things. Very special case with Gronk. I would be happiest if he grows up a little bit and stays his entire career.

By the "standard" used by the the douchebags calling Gronk tinkerbell Edelman is a p.ssy as well.

That is stuff that is done during the offseason on his own free time, which should be none of our business anyway. And during offdays during the season he is always visiting hospitals and schools and talking to kids. In fact he's more prominent doing that than the other stuff, but no one cares about that.

I don't understand all of the outrage of people who think he said cut or trade Gronk today, he's talking about 3 years from now when the current contract has expired. While it's crazy early in my mind (3 years is a lifetime in the NFL) it's not a ridiculous question to ponder. I do agree cutting him now would be incredibly stupid but in 3 years when he is closer to the dreaded 30 cliff? Eh a lot harder to say and I am not sure where I fall on the issue. It's crazy to think about the end of Gronk's career already (didn't we draft him just a year or two ago?) but Brady, Gonzo, and Gates are massive exceptions not the norm. 8-10 years is actually a pretty long and solid career, especially with the beatings Gronk takes so it might make sense to trade him in 2 years with all of the injuries piling up and I say that as someone adores the guy and fully understands you are talking the best offensive weapon in all of football. I am not worried about him missing 1/4 of the season because from a cap perspective a top WR as dominant as Gronk (think prime Fritz or Calvin) was getting 15 mil per. For 2/3 of that we get Gronk so he is already saving us money and is a bargin. As long as those are regular season games Gronk is worth every penny and whatever "managing" you need to do to have him in the postseason he is that big a difference maker to the entire offense. And as far as my crystal ball tells me he will be for at least that the next two years. Interesting topic but waaaaay too early for anything other than crazy speculation.

Love gronk but he's done.

More three WR's sets I wonder if Devin Lucien gets signed to the active Roster??

Well here's the thing for Gronk. I think this being his last contract in New England is fair to say as very possible. But does this now mean that BB pulls a shocker and lets go of him after this season?

I'm not so sure about that. For one, we are already getting Gronk for a decent discount for his talent. So it's not like he's holding the roster hostage with his cap hit.

If anything, this makes Gronk have less leverage to holdout for more money, since his injury risk now plays a deeper factor into his pay. Maybe BB will ask him to take a pay it and then he says no? Possible, but at the moment I don't think we're moving on from Gronk after this year.

r u nosdtramusz LOL?/

He makes it our business by putting this stuff out in the public. I don't see how you can argue otherwise. When you can't stay on the field like him, it's natural for people to start considering why that might be. His public behavior is an obvious place to start.

He is an athlete that plays for a high profile NFL team. In this social media world we are going to know everything anyway. His public behavior has nothing to do with his performance, especially when you have no correlation or any proof to say it does. Once again, if his "partying" and "drinking" are a problem, why aren't his many hospital visits to sick kids? Because that isn't something that that grabs attention.

On what do you base his "public binge drinking"? I would offer this article as a response to that concern.

He plays the goof and doofus, but he apparently has saved all of his NFL money. That would suggest his public image and his reality may not be the same, and the public image gets him the endorsement money he lives off of instead of digging into his savings.

Nobody questions his conditioning. His size and speed, as well as any other physical weaknesses, may result in a physical design that weathers hits the way others might during the season. Getting injured on the field and being a goof off the field are not necessarily related concerns.

Cutting Gronk after the season wouldn't save enough on the cap to be worth it unless we're pretty sure his career is over. Or unless we're pretty sure he'll be diminished in a big way going forward and someone is offering a high first rounder anyway.

This is as good a thread as any to mention that this is a rare good TE draft, getting one in the top two rounds seems likely regardless of what happens with Bennett.

That's using a harmful drug like it's a joke. Maybe it's not normal for him to do that, but I'm just going on what I see.

Gronk has to consider retirement. 3 back surgeries, Broken infected arm, ACL tear, punctured lung and god only knows what else. He is only 27, Gronk was one of the best players I have ever seen. And should be considered for the HOF even with a shortened career.

With that said I hope he comes back.

I have to think he at least gives it one more go. Knowing Gronk, I don't think he retires until he absolutely knows he can't play. Guy just seems to enjoy it too much.

He's at least if anything not having a ton of concussions pile up on him.

He won't be with us next season to play.
