Sort of OT: Tebow sounds really salty over his release by the Pats

If he really cared for improving his craft with the pats, he shouldn't have needed to ask BB to turn down the commercial opportunities and distractions.

Did I suggest you suggested he didn't have that right? All I know is I see an awful lot of criticism leveled at the guy for doing something ex-athletes do all the time.
While I don't care for some of the things he's done, I really believe Tebow's very likely a really nice guy and is genuine about his beliefs. I'm far more amused by how thin-skinned millions of people are about any perceived criticism of him. I suspect Tim reacts to that criticism far less defensively and much more maturely than his minions and lemmings do.

Interesting take...

Tom Brady doesn't seem to be a distraction, and he has several commercials including some that poke fun at deflate gate.....

Tebow shouldn't have even asked for BBs opinion... of course I don't expect any of the posters here to go against BB here, but that's just stupid

I think Brady and Tebow's situation are different. If brady went in his 2nd yr and did commercials as a backup QB to bledsoe instead of getting himself ready to play in the nfl, i would have the same opinion. And this was Tebow's third chance gifted to him. He knows the crowd and media he brings. If he felt it was needed to check with BB whether he should do a commercial or not , I assume he had some doubts already so that should be enough to put it off until you maybe make the roster at least. He hasn't even made the team and wondering if he should go do some commercials .Just my opinion.

I don't think a one time commercial makes Stevie any less prepared..

I also don't see how, if you think it does, you don't also think all Brady's endorsements make him less prepared?

For the record I don't think it does, I think Brady should do whatever he wants, but so should tebow.

Although BB would probably tell Brady not to do all the ones he does too

I feel like people are reading something I'm not. Either that or you guys are just using salty as a blanket term to mean something different. He doesn't seem bitter in the slightest towards the Pats.
People seem to be attributing their own thoughts and feelings to Tebow's words. The part about the car and house was ridiculous considering how much money he's made and can make but, he just sounds like a guy whose dreams were crushed.

I dont think 1 time commercial matters. I agree with that. But when you are really at the last out of your nfl career to salvage it, all your focus should be on football. Thats just the way I feel. Especially when you haven't even made the team yet. We can agree to disagree. Of course tebow is free to do what he wants. ITs just that is it the right choice. ? Imagine a week after he signed he ended up on TV commercials. How many people would be thrilled about it in NE ? Again not that he should care but i dont think anyone wouldve just said "its fine"

Given how many people praise the character of this guy, I would have assumed he would have taken responsibility for his failings in the NFL. It wasn't simply something that happened to him. His own performance was the biggest factor in his release. Perhaps it was a bit naive to be so surprised at Tebow clearly expressing a victim mentality.

Where is the victim mentality? I don't see him attributing responsibility anywhere in this piece of dialogue that a reporter chose to report on.

Tim says "I didn't have a car or a house."
Tim forgets to add on "So I immediately bought a couple of each. With cash."

From an article in the Christian Post on October 5:

The former Heisman Trophy winner has a knack for attracting media attention and corporate sponsors that are interested in endorsing him. Around the time he expressed interest in being a part of the Patriots team, one company offered him $1 million for one day's worth of work by appearing in a commercial.

"I remembered when I had signed with the team in June. Then I'd had an offer on the table to make a one-day appearance endorsing a product for a million dollar paycheck," Tebow reveals in the book. "I'm sure you'd agree that a million bucks is a lot to make in just twenty-four hours. But I wasn't quick to say yes."

It is widely known that Belichick is not a fan of the media circus that takes place off of the football field and advised Tebow to pass up on the opportunity.

"He thought for a moment and then shook his head. 'Timmy, I would really appreciate it if you didn't,'" Tebow recalled the coach saying. "Highly respecting the man, I turned down the deal. I didn't even think twice about it."

While some may question why, Tebow believed he had a chance to live his NFL quarterback dream with one of the most respected coaches in the game. However, he later came very close to regretting his decision after Belichick cut him with little explanation.

"I thought of the endorsement deal I had turned down two months earlier, questioning and maybe even regretting my decision," Tebow said. "Was it the wrong choice? If I had said yes, would that have put me in a better situation than where I am right now — sitting in front of two coaches who are firing me without telling me exactly why?"

. . .

After he was cut by the Patriots, offers poured in for Tebow to play for other teams. The only problem was, none of them were interested in him as a quarterback.

"'Timmy, a bunch of teams are calling and hoping you'll play for them,'" Tebow recalled his agent telling him. "So this one wants you to play tight end. That one wants you as an HB ..."

Although Tebow acknowledged there were some "really big selling points," he had no passion for those offers and insists his decision wasn't made out of arrogance.

"I wanted to continue to fight for what I was passionate about, for what I believed in. Since I was 6 years old, I didn't just want to play football; I wanted to be a quarterback," he said. "I didn't want to be in the NFL for the sake of being in it, or to make a lot of money, or to get famous. I wanted to pursue my passion of playing as a quarterback."

Yeah, I bet the 6 hours he'd spend doing voice work or a photo shoot or whatever on his day off would be on his mind when he's under center.

I'm agreeing with Dale and Holley by calling BS on this story. Something is being left out or not being told precisely the way things happened.

Really? You have a hard time invisioning BB saying that? Uh lol

How in the hell did you come to the conclusion that I was questioning what BB might have said from my post? Is English a second or third language to you? Jesus H. Christ...

While I'm going with: "Tim, you haven't made the team" theory, I do think the Pats also don't encourage a lot of endorsements. BB seems to understand what Goodell might be starting to understand: overexposure hurts your brand and revenue in the long-term.

Note to Tim, Julian Edelman didn't insist he stay at QB and he has had a stellar career. Certainly Pats HOF if not NFL* HOF.

You insist that you will only play QB in the NFL*, and you are now trying to make it in professional baseball as a long shot.

Not sayin', just sayin'.

Why you so angry, bro?

See? I was right! Your sentence has no verb and "bro" is not a complete word. At least you had a legitimate excuse...English is difficult for you. Now, I understand.

Cringe... so angry!
