You don't have to be a psychic to know who, but it's not Tag - the last great NFL commissioner.

Please dear Lord, deny that clown: "He wasn't in the Cowboys Ring of Honor" :p (lame excuse used in the past)

There is absolutely no football reason to induct him, but maybe he will because he's helped make the NFL a bigger ponzi scheme than Bernie Madoff.

If he's ever inducted, please do it the year Goodell and Johnson are.

After Hell freezes over.

Then I jump off a bridge into the frozen Trinity River.

Jones potentially being honored for helping to turn the NFL into the equivalent of a Nascar driver's race day suit should be celebrated during the annual owner's meetings, and not in a gold jacket.

To me that is completely different than placing him alongside all-time great football players.

If a 'contributor' helped to make the on-field game and fan experience better, vote him in.

Polian getting in was a bit of a joke, but I understand based on the success of the teams where he was a general manager; but now this is becoming absurd. This is just the billionaire boys giving each other reach-arounds, while truly great football players that we as fans truly enjoyed watching are left out of Canton.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones named finalist for Pro Football Hall of Fame 2017 class as contributor | SportsDay

Yep, I'm talking about Jerrah. Those that are going to vote need to consider his first six months as owner, running off Jimmy Johnson and perhaps a fourth SB in the 90's. AND his performance as GM.

Kraft is a helluva better owner than this clown.

And not just by a little. In a lot fewer years the Pats have won more superbowls - Appeared in over double the superbowls (7-3) Appeared in more playoff games, Won more than double the playoff games. And that just the on field success.

Off the field he turned what was one of the worst franchises in the league with the worst stadium (by far) into the 2nd most valuable franchise in the league. He personally saved Goodell and his cast of bumbling idiots and saved the 2011 season. And by all accounts the most important member of the TV committee. (though I've heard Jonathan did most of the heavy lifting in working out the final deal)

And beyond even that; he built a very nice stadium, and in a bad economy, turned Patriots Place into a retail, hotel, and entertainment success story. And he did it without costing the taxpayers a dime or extorting PSL's on season ticket holders. He also made going to a Pats game something a family could attend without fear. Something that could NOT be said during the Sullivan/Kiam eras.

Sure he ****ed up the deflategate affair, but when weighed against all the unprecedented good we've enjoyed for more than 2 decades, he should be forgiven that blunder.

Bowlen would be a better choice than Jones, but he too can't match the accomplishments of Kraft, both on the field an off it. Just another example of the Billionaires Boys Club sucking ass kissing themselves at the Patriots expense. The so called committee that put out Jones' name should be ashamed, and its another reason NOT to ready anything put out by Peter King.

I believe the Cowboys have won all of 2 playoff games in the past 20 seasons. No wonder their fans hate us so much. We are what they used to be and what they wish they were.

You think this is bad? Just wait for the days when glorious leader Goodell gets nominated and voted in.

I will lead a contingent of Patriots and Saints fans to Canton to boo his induction speech. How could they stop that?

I'm shocked Irsay isn't in, Hall of Fame loves the Colts. Marvin in way before he should be and Polian and Dungy never should have made it.

I saw the short tribute to Jerry Jones on NFLN and it did not mention the unceremonious way he fired Tom Landry, and then showed how great the dynasty of the 1990s was. I kept waiting for the overall record that is more mediocre than exemplary, the party bus at the NFL meetings complete with exploited 20-year-old strippers and Dean Blandino, and a mention of the $10M fine for violating the agreed upon salary cap in 2010 while CBA negotiations were underway. I'm still waiting.

If this were political, it would be referred to as, "pay for play"...

Jerrah plays the game to add to his bottom line and reaps the reward..

Jerry must be getting close to death, if the NFL is floating the idea of giving him what amounts to a "participation" trophy.

Indeed, and it happens in every sport with a HOF. It's pathetic, but it's the way they do business.

LOL...Maybe they can reach out to Colts front office for some banner and design choices

Interesting you mentioned pay for play

'You're going in my will': Hear Cowboys' Jerry Jones at the moment he learned he's a Hall of Fame finalist | SportsDay

Jones deserves credit - or blame - for much of today's NFL marketing.
So he deserves as much blame as Goodell for the state-of-the-NFL?

NFL: Money man Jerry Jones as Hall of Fame pick defies logic

No, Jones should not be in the HOF. The only way any owner every should be is if he was instrumental in either founding or popularizing the league in its early days, before it became a juggernaut. Not even the most generous interpretation of Jones' time in the NFL would meet that standard. Frankly, I'd argue that he's done more harm than good overall.

The HoF committee needs more than 48 sportswriters and have to voting public to address potential bias. If the Supreme Court publishes their vote and why, then the NFL HoF committee can.

Did you know that for every defensive HoF, there are four HoFs on the offensive side? And on offense it's weighed towards QBs, WRs, RBs? The defensive backfield is underrepresented....until Ray Guy was inducted no dedicated punter on the HoF.

Teams like the Raiders believe there is a bias against them - both hatred and being on the West Coast....expect this when Patriots are being considered...."he looks good because be played in the Belichick system and Brady was the QB"

In the contributor category, that would also include the GM. Scott Pioli deserves consideration for his results and salary cap innovations. In comparison, Jerry Jones as GM makes his HoF candidacy a travesty.
