With Matthews ending up in Tennessee, I'd be making a call about Kendall Wright right now. If Green-Beckham is still going to be forced into the #1 role (where he was boom or bust last year) and Matthews is the #2 like he said he wants to be, then that makes Wright the #3 WR and #4 receiver overall in an offense that clearly intends to run the ball more now with Murray.

That $7.3 million cap hit is a major impediment, but could be fixed with a long term deal if the other details make sense. Wright had a rough 2015 due to injury and mediocre 2014 with crap at QB, but his 2013 season and start to 2015 show a player that would help the Pats right now. Some people would be disappointed because he's not big, but I think he could fit very nicely on the outside similar to how Branch used to. Lots of questions to be answered, but I think it'd be worth inquiring.

I've read comments from Wright about how he doesn't see why it's a big deal that he doesn't run precise routes. That gives me great pause.

Would've liked to keep him at this point. Give him another chance to get his 2014 mojo back.

Might as well have kept Chandler as well and I was glad to see him go. There are giant holes to fill at every level of the offense.

I know we're starting to tear our hair out but honestly don't understand why anyone would want Percy Harvin on the team. Mediocre player AND a head case?
Well that should mean he's affordable. You can't have it both ways. You can't not want to spend any money but want perfect players.

Tom Brady's top 4 targets are still on the team as long as the OL holds up pats are still a top 3 offense right now

Dude has been trending the wrong direction for years now. Last time he had more than 500 yards receiving was 2012.

Who said anything about perfect? Even serviceable would do.

We're really sweatin whether we can find a few wr's?

Wonder how some other teams must feel. E.g. Denver. Denver's best case scenario for QB next season is overpaying Ryan Fitzpatrick to pry him away from the Jets. Trip on that!

Denver just won the Super Bowl with the worst starting QB in the NFL. Fitzpatrick 2015 would be a significant upgrade to the steaming pile of dogshit Denver was lining up under center last year.

I agree with you, and I'm honestly torn over who I'd rather see him play for. Both teams (DEN/NYJ) are significantly weakened without a viable QB option, and both teams are significantly improved with Fitzpatrick and the weapons that they provide, surrounding him.

He's obviously the best option left right now, and I'd be surprised if he didn't go to one of these cities.

Meanwhile everyone forgets that the Steelers exist.

We'll have plenty of competition this year, like any other year. It's just not likely to come from within the division (unless Fitzpatrick re-ups in NY + they continue moving forward), so people somehow overlook the rest of the AFC.

There are always going to be at least 3-4-5 other teams who are legitimate contenders in my opinion, with another handful of teams vying for a wild card spot as an underdog contender.

their defense is garbage

tomlin is also overrated. im not scared of the them as long as TB12 is the QB. he owns them

They had a weakness on the back end last season, but that so called "garbage defense" finished one spot behind us (11th in the league in points allowed), and held their opponents to under 20 in more games than we did.

NE gave up 19.7 ppg

PIT gave up 19.9 ppg

And the reports of them being interested in Weddle is not good. All it does is make them better.

I don't forget. The Patriots were a Steelers backup RB fumble away from probably winning back-to-back Super Bowls.

I still don't believe we'd have beaten the Panthers, not with our injuries. That strip sack fumble for a TD broke Cam's brain, if that doesn't happen I think they beat the Broncos going away.

Maybe. People in Pittsburgh believe that they were a backup RB fumble away from winning the SB, as well.

We all like to assume that NE would've been victorious in a hypothetical AFCCG matchup, and I think they'd have had about a 65-35 or 60-40 chance, but unfortunately we'll never know.

Our offense was hobbled. The WRs were a shell of themselves, limping after the game, and battled injuries throughout the stretch run after Thanksgiving. We had absolutely zero running game, and a terrible offensive line. Roethlisberger may have torched Jamie Collins twice for TDs the same way that Manning did. Who knows?
