OT: Just a reminder that we're the really arrogant team in the NFL.

I'm just not buying it. IMHO, it is the exact same tactic as playing the race card. "Hey, he called me the n-word." But that wouldn't really get people riled up in this case since it is 2 black people involved, so he had to go in another direction.

Plus anyone that has ever played a competitive sport in their life knows that that word flies around like it's going out of style.

Ya, I agree. Even if that word was used, I highly doubt it made Odell teary eyed.

So suddenly everyone is anti-norman instead of anti-Beckham? If OBJ's skin is thin enough to be offended that's his own problem.

Was Norman right? No. But OBJ blatantly tried to severely harm Norman. Norman may be a gigantic tool, OBJ is a ****ing *******, and this is NOT the first game he's swung at people without getting ejected, it's the 3rd or 4th that I can think of. He has a clear history of violence on the field. He's approaching the "shouldn't be allowed in the league" stage rather quickly with his on field attitude, I really don't care how much of a saint everyone insists he is off the field.

Football isn't played off the field. And OBJ doesn't belong on it.

Who said it's a binary equation?

This is mostly about the big mouths the Panthers have despite having accomplished exactly **** in this league.

For instance if Andy Johnson and Deus get in an argument I can think that they're both unnecessarily acerbic blowhards.

Carolina.

OK. I had a feeling that their schedule has been weak, and it turned out that I had an unexpected free 15 minutes this morning to check it out. So, in the spirit of Bill Parcells' adage, "You are what your record says you are," here are the records of every team that Carolina has beaten this season at the time that they played them...in the spirit of Bill Belichick, "it's a long season," so teams evolve over the 17 weeks, but this is where the Panthers' opponents were on the days of their games with Carolina:

Week Opponent Record
1 JAX, 0-0 (DUH!)
2 HOU, 0-1
3 NOL, 0-3
4 TBB, 1-3
5 Bye
6 SEA, 2-4
7 PHL, 3-4
8 IND, 3-5
9 GBP, 6-2
10 TEN, 2-7
11 WAS, 4-6
12 DAL, 3-8
13 NOL, 4-8
14 ATL, 6-7
15 NYG, 6-8
Total: 40--66; only one opponent with a winning record

Not sure what this means other than that it is a fact that the Panthers will not be playing a Wild Card Team and that they will have to win two games (at Home) against two, hot, strong teams with winning records and strong QB's (Rodgers and Wilson, perhaps) to get to the SB and then go to a neutral site to play a very hot AFC champion with a very good QB (if I had to bet, either Brady or Big Ben). After watching Eli wake up and shred them in the fourth quarter this week, I think that's a tall order.

I don't think this ends well for the Panthers, even if they go 16--0.

Two ****tards don't make a right, or something.

ODB is punk ass jerk. What he did on the helmet to helmet SPEAR deserves multiple games. It was a blatant attempt to injure another player. No different than if he tried to rip out an eye or bite off a finger.

IMO.

So who's game to watch Norman vs Edelman? I bet you Jules gets open on him anyway and makes him pout all game.

I find it interesting to contrast this situation to when Butler faced OBJ. They were shaking each others' hands and s***. Seems crazy to think the same guy is out there head hunting.

He actually used the crown of his helmet and hit Butler hard in the head as well. It was so away from the play and Butler wasn't even looking at him until the last second.

Beckham was seemingly proud afterwards too.

He's a punk. He'll get it back in spades one day. You get what you give...

Good info.

Panthers have had a pretty easy season with an NFC south which is a disaster, on top of playing nfc East which is a disaster. They've really only played 1 good team at the time they played. I expect them to 1 and done in the playoffs.

If Adam Jones slamming Amari Cooper's head into a helmet only warranted a token fine, then by comparison the game that Beckham got is borderline harsh. Not even a little consistent by the league, but I don't think more than a game was ever really a consideration.

As we have learned, the NFL is now run on a trial by media / fanbase. I didn't even know about the Pacman incident.

Norman was right, he is a ballerina.. ODB that was the best you could do and then you want to stand and gloat?... douchebag to the nth degree.

That doesn't really mean much, though. The 2011 Patriots didn't beat a single team with a winning record and were still a Welker drop away from a Lombardi.

If it is us vs them I find it hard to believe they will be hated more. But if it is them then their opponent will not get the media barrage ... they will which will be good for us ... hopefully us. Cam Newton ball wash festival.

I live in NC now and want to like the Panters (when it doesn't influence the Patriots), but Cam Newton makes it very hard.

I very rarely ever heard the N word and I played competitive sports my entire life up through D1. Heard the F-T word much more, though not necessarily directed against me.

I heard the former more because I played in a different time than you and I also played mostly in south Florida with African-American teammates and opposition. The latter I also heard, by not with as much frequency. I more or less heard the latter more during pick-up games of basketball.

I was thinking that our different experiences probably had to do with geography. I almost never heard the N word in sports until I went to college in DC in 1991. Then I heard it much more, but more so in pick up with city kids than in real games. I was also threatened to be killed much more by those city kids.

Kontra- I'm heading down to Port St Lucie tomorrow.

Ah, the old stomping grounds. I wonder if any of my old local haunts are still open. Whereabouts?
