Watch out for the NFL* shenanigans today. Footballs will be measured during today's game

Not to be pedantic but weighed is incorrect. The mass/weight of the air does not change.
They measure the pressure in pounds per square inch.

eh I slipped up and had weighed in my head because people were talking about it. Meant to say measured

The team should really cover themselves with a parallel proper set of measurements on an extra set of footballs. That way have something to show in case the league tries some funny business like starting the measurement with cold footballs

I don't trust the NFL* AT ALL, especially on this. Their stated "random procedure" was incomplete and unscientific.

I expect the worst from this, with made up numbers unfavorable to the Pats followed by the usual leaks from their captive media outlets.

I'm sure many of us on this board are a bit disappointed that the Pats didn't get out in front of this tactic from Week #1.

I would have like to see something like this to help seize the narrative:

The Pats should have been doing this under video surveillance throughout the season with "test balls" (painted bright red) on the sidelines in plain sight for all the world to see. Several balls with calibrated pressure gauges attached (cal certificates traceable to the National Bureau of Standards) in plastic under each gauge. During home games the surveillance feed should be in the corner of the jumbo-tron throughout the game.

Hold onto your hats, everybody! Let's see how far the NFL* goes with this.

I am shocked, shocked that the Pats ownership hasn't been all over this.

So where are the other measurements that have been taken this season? I haven't heard a thing about them measuring psi.

Either haven't measured any or the results haven't gone the nfl*'s way

It's not pedantic at all. This conflation of psi and weight is at the heart of why the ignorant think this is an important issue. Maybe if we converted to pascals so the word 'pound' isn't invoked...

Well, get ready to have all of our titles stripped. They're going to get bored of stealing 1st rounders soon enough.

Same ref as the AFCCG too, isn't it?
No.. Walt Anderson was the ref at the AFCCG. Walt Coleman is the ref today. He of the infamous Tuck Rule.

OMG we are doomed. We will be forced to forfeit every win for the next 20 years and Kraft will have no choice but to go to the CFL and call themselves the New England Mounties.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I hope the Pats film their crew inflating the footballs to spec and have video proof of them handing them off to the refs without any other chance for alteration.

However, even if the numbers come out and aren't favorable (they may not be, since it's not a wet game), who gives a s***? The NYJFL already punished the Pats for it. What're they gonna do? Dock an extra pick after the fact just 'cause?

However, IMO I don't think we will ever hear the results.

I especially like how we got all the way to Week 15 with no news about PSI testing across the league; somehow, word gets out today. Somehow.

"I just checked them, they are 11.99999999% PSI. Oh, and I forgot to wash my hands too."

I was just thinking about the "Here we go again" thread when this whole mess started. I think you posted it. Never in a million years did I think the Patriots would be punished and dragged through the mud for obeying the Laws of Physics. I hope they are paying attention and do film what is going on, but probably the NFL doesn't allow that.

Weighed? Hope NFL buy a good scale then. I tend to mess with mine and increase it by 10 lbs, so the wife goes ballistic every time she step on the scale.

So hope they "measured" the ball psi.....

The NFL's way to try to suspend Brady for the playoffs...don't trust this one bit. And why all of a suggested announce it?

If I'm the Krafts, I have a team of engineers, lawyers and videographers overseeing this exercise.

If they don't, then I don't know what know what the Krafts are doing. There is, as far as I know, no rule against them doing that.

It would be nice to have a safeguard against getting screwed over by the league again. At a minimum, it should keep the NFL testing on the up-and-up. If there are any differences, the Patriots can say they documented their entire process and will be completely transparent about it. Will the NFL be able to do same?

"Weighed"!? I'm gobsmacked that at this date, after all the discussion and debate, people are -still- this completely ignorant.
