Gronk Watch

I don't think so. But it would be pretty ******** if Wild Card OR Divisional weekend rolls around and Edelman suits up but Gronk doesn't.

I don't think that will be case.
I hope you are right. Gronk's whole approach to this thing is troubling.

Even if gronk comes back, how long before he starts playing freely? we saw last yr first 4 games he wasnt the same guy returning from injury.

I think it really kinda depends how things go this week. If they lose to Houston, they may as well keep Gronk out and just shoot for the 3 seed and try to grind out a couple wins, and ensure Gronk is healthy for the games that matter most. But if they beat Houston, and especially if Denver or Cincinnati lose this week too (could happen to Cinci), they should try to get Gronk back by the last couple weeks of the regular season to keep the bye locked up, even if it's just for limited snaps.

Problem is its up to Gronk and HIS team, not the Pats.

How did people like Gonzalez, and most pertinent Whitten managed to stay so healthy for so long? We are designing plays that puts Gronk in harms way? What can the Patriots or Gronk change to increase his chance of longevity in the game? Looking at the game, he was targeted on that knee in the first half, got up gingerly and the second hit caused the decommissioned pain he felt.

Can Gronk be cleared to ****ing practice first before all this dumbass speculation? People keep taking Gronk's "100%" comment like he wrote it in ****ing stone. Enough with the *****ing and its the same 3 or 4 people every time. Here's what's happened so far: Gronk gets injured, Gronk immediately is ruled out, Gronk is then ruled out against the Eagles. He doesn't practice. He is status is now doubtful versus Houston. We still don't know if he'll practice this week. Here's what those 4 posters THINK is happening: Gronk's gonna sit out multiple games knowing the team is St Louis Rams-like offensively without him. We don't know that he will or that he has any intention of doing so, but that's what we're gonna think.

No. It was immediately reported that Gronk and the Patriots dodged a bullet and that it was even possible he would miss no time. (Not that that report even matters) Then, it became very obvious (and reported on by Curran and others) that was most certainly a disconnect between the Patriots and Gronk's camp. The Video he released was embarrassing and obviously demonstrated the disconnect. Gronk is on his own reservation whether you want to admit it or not. And I don't know why you are blasting posters anyway.

Because you keep *****ing about it. You keep making threads about it. Other threads keep getting derailed because of it. No one knows a damn thing about the entire situation, but here we have our resident Patsfans poster speculating about it like Gronk talks to him daily. Unless you see a report that states that Gronk is cleared to play and refuses to, stop bringing it up like you have all the information.

I half believe there is an edict to go low on Gronk. Ward does it, then again he does it to everyone. I'm sure in Denver they encourage it, because he's a massive threat to them. If Witten or Gonzales were on the Pats, the same would be happening.

I'm not sure I'd agree with you here, Ross. Even a loss to HOU still keeps us in the race for the bye week. Pittsburgh plays both CIN and DEN, as I'm sure you are well aware. Only one of those games is this week, meaning that it's quite reasonable to think that Pittsburgh can beat the winner of CIN/DEN, and that's IF they'd both run the tables outside of those matchups.

I think some here are overthinking things. Gronk will play when a couple/few weeks have passed and he's no longer injured. Simple as that. That's what I expected the whole time, even prior to his "message" or whatever (that I've never ever seen). He was ruled out immediately for PHI, and rightfully so. The fact that we begin practice for HOU only 72 hrs later made me awfully skeptical about his availability for this Sunday's game as well.

The real question at this point, regardless of what happens to us on Sunday night, is if he's ready to go vs. TEN next week, or whether they play it safe one more week. That's my opinion, anyway. I fully expected 2-3 games to be missed. It was good news, but some here are taking that reported good news way overboard, expecting him to bounce right up and play the next week or so. I thought that expectation was ridiculous, and IF there was any hidden message to Gronk's video, it was probably warning against such an idea.

I think it's as simple as this, and if there was any hidden message to Gronk's video, it may have been to simmer down a bit on the media reports that "he may not even miss a game."

Imagine being Gronkowski, not even really knowing for sure what he'd play again this year for more than an hour or two, and already having some idiot put the message out there that he may practice and play this week. I'd probably want to caution people against that kind of optimism as well.

It certainly doesn't even come close to suggesting that he's healthy and refusing to play, or that he makes all of the decisions instead of the team, etc.

I think it's because a) that's how defense is being played now is to go low and b) Gronk is way more physical than Gonzalez or Witten, so guys have even more reason to go low.

His forearm break was a total fluke injury, not much you can do to reduce that type of thing happening. Gronk just needs to continue to try and protect himself as best he can, because there is a giant target on his back (aka his knees)

I'm having trouble getting on board the "Gronk is a soft baby" train that some are. .

When I saw him go down in that denver game, I was devestated and thought the season was over... to find out later that we dodged a bullet and that he'll be back was an insane piece of news... who cares if it takes him 1 week, 2 weeks or 4 weeks.. the point is that most of us thought he was DONE and now that we get the good news that he isn't, people are all over him to rush back and to stop being a p*****.. some going so far as to suggest trading him lol. ..

I just don't get it. Gronk's season isn't over, thats something to feel good about, not have a melt down about how many games you feel he should miss based on very little to no information

The fact is, Gronkowski has a more serious injury than some people here realize. The bruise is deep... to the bone, which is different from the bruising one sees near the surface of the skin.

I think Supa's recovery timeline delineated above is realistic, although it would not surprise me if he is out until the playoffs.

Once Gronkowski (and Edelman) return, there is no guarantee that he (they) will be back in peak form, which is frustrating.

Alas, this is the nature of the beast in a sport this violent.

All in all, it has been a rough year on the injury front for this team. The outlook is far from bleak, but there is a very palpable sense of uncertainty, due large in part to all the injuries, and the near constant fluxuations at various positions.

Because they're not made of glass.

Because they're not made of glass.
Is this a joke? Or do you think I think Gronk is made of glass? Gronk is the toughest person I have seen play the position, physically and mentally. That is out of the question.
I am just asking if our smart coaches have a plan to help protect him by studying the type of catches Whitten makes and designing such plays. It helps to have a Dez as well.

I believe the team does need to evaluate making the team less dependent on Gronk. When Edleman is on the field it will easier. Remember Gronk has been in the league 5 completed seasons and for 4 of those years a "Gronkless" team won the Super Bowl. Having The Gronk is not a requirement to winning the Super Bowl. 48 of them have been won without him so far.

I believe we have seen the last of Gronk this season,

So you really are just a troll. Good to know that there is no reason to waste time arguing with your insane comments.

I am sorry, but I think he is listening to his father. I don't think he will miss this week because of Dad and probably because of his injury isn't healed, but I can almost guarantee you his father is pressuring him to wait until the post season to come back. And unfortunately his father has far too much control of his son. Why else do you think the Patriots and the Gronkowski family are issuing press releases.

His father had a $10,000,000 insurance policy on his son during college. If he got injured and his career ended, he would have lived off of that. Gronk's father is looking after his son, nothing wrong with that. I actually wonder if Gronk was hurting a bit before that game and now won't come back till HE feels he is ready. I also wonder if they blame the Pats for the 2012 season.

You are wasting your time arguing with people who are either trolls or complete morons. This thread is full of them.
