I never thought the day would come where posting on Patsfans that I support our owner who has brought a type of success all but a few teams in the NFL could even dream about let alone the woebegone team I started rooting for in 1985 would be considered controversial. But here we are.
I think Kraft thought he did the right thing and I'm glad he's our owner. His big mistake was backing Goodell through Ray Rice, not capitulating to the lost draft pick considering that the options for recourse he had would have been, by and large, symbolic or Pyrrhic at best.
As I said, Kraft was acclaimed as the most influential owner in sports as recently as 2014 [fact check]. Goodell called him away from his sick wife, to settle the CBA which Goodell completely ****ed up. He did. All the very lucrative media contracts they'd all [especially ESPN] would love to get out of now - negotiated by Kraft.
When it comes to Goodell, he expected unconditional thanks, for helping the league and making him look good [though he was a moron]
Instead, he gets stabbed in the back.
Now, I know some people think businessmen that are wimps just amass 4.5 billion dollars by accident, but i don't think it's true [if it is, tell me how to do it]
I think, having propped up this dodo, who was the commissioner, after all, Kraft expected thanks and recognition, instead of a sh*t covered shank in the back.
He is human, after all. He made a mistake.
Obviously Kraft has worked some incredible deals internationally with owners on a one-on-one basis...very high level stuff..."without lawyers". But he fooked up...he sided with the NFL. It was a colossal mistake. We as fans lost some respect for Kraft...and in many of our eyes he will never be forgiven.
The day Goodell upheld the suspension...that changed everything IMO. He will wait....and be patient...and then make his move.
He sided with the commissioner of the NFL. Not illogical for an owner who enjoyed having power within that organization.
Yeah he messed up because the commissioner was insane.
When you say he sided with the NFL, I'm confused. He is an owner of an NFL team, after all. He would be taking sides against himself otherwise.
