I have an acquaintance who is a Colts fan. He even understands the basics of the ideal gas law by now. What does that leave him clinging to? This is the conversation:

Me: The balls lost pressure to the extent that they should have.

Him: The rule book says 12.5-13.5 psi. It doesn't say anything about temperature. Below 12.5 is cheating.

Me: Every game in the history of the NFL played in 45 degree weather or lower had footballs below 12.5. IGL.

Him: I know that. But the rule book says 12.5-13.5 psi. It doesn't say anything about temperature. Below 12.5 is cheating.

Me: But that makes no sense at all.

Him: I know that. But the rule book says 12.5-13.5 psi. It doesn't say anything about temperature. Below 12.5 is cheating.

It just goes nowhere. That's like arguing with Mort.

Should have told him if they waited 30 minutes at room temperature, the footballs would be back at 12.5-13.5 psi.
Never mind, your acquaintance is an idiot.

He has no spine or INTEGRITY! Yep I used that word! Lol. He could have easily just said I was given the wrong information and regret reporting it. And left it at that. But this round about way or backing the nfl pisses me off!

Who is feeding these idiot reporters their lines.. Its not lying cause he went looking for the information and called them.. So by that stupid ducking logic Tom Brady and the Patriots can not be caught lying because Ted Wells and the NFL were asking them questions? Case closed i guess. Wtf is wrong with these people? I would love Tom Brady's lawyers to use that stupid logic in court. They could call it Mort's Paradox On Lying. How has public opinion been swayed by these idiots?

So, to summarize, if you call someone and they knowingly give you bad info (more than once) it's not lying, but if they call you with the same misinformation, then it is lying. He should have just shut up.

45-7 doesn't stop the "Cheater!" cries. Pointing out that Luck is a cheater hits right back at their heart.
The ironic thing is the Colts are probably the biggest cheaters in the league. Maybe changing the rules isn't technically cheating but it sure as hell is against the integrity of the game and the shield. Then we have noisegate and turning up the heat on our guys and the Colts never getting called for pass interference for a couple of years. Polian in the Hall of Fame is a joke. He's a blackmark on the game.

Per PFT:
Mortensen also said he has recently spoken to Patriots owner Robert Kraft. While declining to delve into any details of the conversation, Mortensen said that Kraft told him, “Our fight is not with you. It’s with the NFL.”

Owners meeting on August 11th - Mr. Kraft may have a strong message for his 31 partners

I know Bob has been great lately but ugh...can he send Johnathan instead? I worry that they might get to him again.

The rule book says nothing about air pressure inflate rates after the referee has checked the balls. So, your friend might have some reading comprehension issues. That's in addition to being a clots fan.

But here's the kicker, and Florio's got it, so I'll quote him:

So they had a chance to correct the lie. Instead, they lied again. Mort could have, and should have, hammered that as his out. He had it all teed up. Instead, he's letting his long and generally excellent career be tarnished in order to protect liars and scumbags, both at the NFL offices and at the ESPN offices.

He will have this on his record for eternity. The man who helped take down the great Brady with a lie.

Mortenson is a coward and a spineless tool used by the NFL and ESPN to propagate their agenda.

Way to keep it confidential...

Mortensen:
"And to be honest with you, Robert Kraft and I have had a conversation since then. It's going to remain confidential. But it's basic gist is: My fight, our fight, is not with you. It's with the NFL. We have no beef with you. We have a beef with the NFL."

Based on what posters are saying about this latest interview, it sounds possible that Mort still doesn't understand the IGL explanation for why the air pressure dropped and thus can't really comprehend the significance of his error. Presumably he still thinks that the controversy over his reporting is about the difference between 1 PSI and 2 PSI underinflated, and that it is just over how big of a cheater Brady is, rather than the difference between 0 PSI and 1 PSI underinflated, and that it is over whether or not Brady is a cheater. It would explain his insistence that the factual discrepancy was blown way out of proportion and that it was not the worst misinformation to come out in the weeks after the AFC Championship Game, and also his explanation that he doesn't really feel burned or misinformed by his sources because from his perspective the gist of the information was still correct.

He's not stupid. I'm sure he would like people to believe that, though.

OK, then the Colts should be punished for the 3 balls that were under 12.5 psi. $25,000 per ball and they can make the check out to me.
