Kraft and Goodell

Not tough for me. Belichick #1, Kraft isn't. I do not trust his judgement. I do not believe his words. I do not think he is sincere.

There are ONLY two scenarios. (1) He actually knows they are guilty and wants this to go away (2) He is choosing the 31 owners over his own team, honour, and QB. In the unlikely scenario #1, I lose all respect for him as he should not be afraid of speaking the truth. In the more plausible scenario #2 he is being a huge pr***.

Thesis statement, Kraft can burn in hell.

The CEO "bitter rivals" in the telecom industry, like in most big business, don't personally dislike each other at all. They are all buddy buddy billionaires and will happily jump ship to a different company if it meant they get paid. Hell telecoms happily collude together to keep competition down all the time.

So Kraft and Goodell and probably having a grand ol' time together.

THIS! Omg it's even worse up here in Canada. I hate those piece of **** telecom owners. Making record profits yet complains to the CRTC(FCC equivalent) about trouble sustaining their business model yet they're making record profits at the expense of Canadians. Freaking collusion! I hate them. I really hate them!

This is pretty disgusting IMO.

At least Kraft could stop his ball washing until Roger renders a decision. Brady's reputation hangs in the balance and the guy orchestrating the Witch Hunt is hanging out with a guy who professes to support Brady who he says has never lied to him.
It just lends credence to the notion that this is just a big silly game to them and they don't take it seriously.

Let us face the fact that nothing is going to change unless Brady brings this to a court of law. Let us also face the fact that Kraft will not being supporting TB once this happens.
So as fans, the only real thing we can do is not buy NFL gear. And BOO the ever lovin crap out of Kraft every chance we get!
I know it's not enough, but it's all we have!

I have to say for a smart businessman, Kraft has really bumbled this whole thing from a PR standpoint. All he has done is turned a large portion of his fan base against him.

I hate to say that I am not looking forward to the banner raising ceremony. I expect Kraft to get a large amount of boos when he makes the presentation. It will be a sad day.

Please boo him until he has no choice but to address the anger. I'm sure Kraft thinks he can distract people at the event with a rah-rah, we won speech. Don't allow that!

Good point. I could list plenty of exceptions, but what you said is often correct.

It might not mean anything.

The Wells Report had it's most credibility when it was released. It was already being poked with holes, although not getting a lot of press, at the time of the suspensions five days later. Since then, Wells Report has been picked at and nobody is defending it. Even Goodell has not publicly supported it. Does anyone believe if the punishment were coming down now, it would be 4 games and loss of draft choices?

Kraft is not one to yell or make a public fuss, but he's not a pushover either. I believe he has told Goodell the Patriots did nothing wrong and he expects him to rule based on the evidence and doing otherwise will not reflect well on him.

We easily can rule out the extremes:
  • Kraft certainly has not done everything he could for the team.
  • On the other hand, Kraft certainly is going to still look for opportunities to get the penalties reduced.
But Kraft seems vastly closer to the "give up and move on" end of the spectrum than I would like him to be, or than I can even respect.

This isn't international diplomacy. No lives, or livelihoods, are on the line. (except McNally's job I suppose) This is sports, and in sports an owner's first priority should be for his own team screw everyone else. There really shouldn't be any give and take here. He's either with us or against us and he's sure as hell not with us.

Just so confused and frustrated by all of this... wtf is going on? Is this planet earth?

There's only one spin I can think of that's remotely plausible, namely:

"Bob, what do I need to do to make this problem go away."
"Roger, I'm known Tom all his adult life, and I can tell you this -- nothing short of a full exoneration will satisfy him. If you want to keep this out of Federal court, that's his bottom line."
"What if I cut the suspension to one game or something."
"Not good enough. Besides, that will just keep it in the news, especially in the run up to opening night."
"Damn. But you know I still have to fine him for not turning over his phone, don't you?"
"Sure. The money isn't the issue. Just give it to a charity that has something to do with kids."
"Does this mean you'll be wanting your draft picks back too?"
"Well, yes. You won't hear a peep from me about anything that can be spun as a penalty for non-cooperation or some technical rules violation, but you can't leave it at a level that looks like it's about a conspiracy to cheat."
"Damn."
"Hey, we're all in this together."

I don't think that's very likely, but it's the best story I could come up with ...

Did you overdose on optimism pills today?

I'm in the minority on this, I know....but I'm willing to wait until the resolution of this to judge Kraft. For him to continue this would embarrass the league and he wasn't going to win. However, he's not one to not work behind the scenes.

The NFL thought an "independent" investigator who hired an "independent" science company. They were so pleased with how that worked out, they have posted a position for it. Now they've hired a PR position to try to prevent these kind of debacles.

I would have liked to see Kraft fight, too. But, I'm willing to wait......

Has anyone considered that Kraft and Goodell might actually be closet lovers? If you consider that seriously, it would explain a heck of a lot.

They're not closet lovers and the never ending jokes about that are really starting to wear thin.

Their close friends because their interest for getting even richer at the expense of anything else aligns perfectly.
