With Dobson not healthy, Belichick probably thought he was a decent, big target for Brady. We've upgraded that type of target with Chandler.
The point is prognostications about positional dominance are ridiculous in June - anyone remember the "Big Nickel" and how it was going to be impossible to move the ball on the Pats secondary? that didn't work out so well....Gronk is already the greatest tight end ever, so this comparison is hardly apt.
