And don't forget that DURING DeflateGate at one point Kraft gave a public statement saying what a good job he thought Goodell was doing!

Sadly we are in the process of learning Bob Kraft is a sellout.

Kraft has to choose between Brady and Goodell. So far his choice is disgusting.
I'm keeping an open mind until all the cards have been played. For now, it's not unreasonable that Kraft would be saying one thing in public and acting differently behind the scenes. But, we will know in good time and you might well be proven to be right.

This is the same thing people were saying during Camerascrewjob.
Fool me once......

I hope so. "You dance with the one who brung you" and Brady and BB are one of the main reasons that this franchise is worth hundreds of millions of dollars more than when he bought the team. He could turn the reins over to Jonathan Kraft and then let loose ( as the past CEO) on what was a corrupt investigation turned witch hunt that proved nothing other than the NFL is run like a Keystone Cops operation....
As an employer and boss, you back your people (*) more so when they are wrongfully accused and convicted on flimsy discounted evidence.

* murder charges excepted...

so far Robert Kraft is showing he does not think that way, or that 'his people' are Roger Goodell and his cronies.

Fool me once......
It's not what I was saying. I was among the most vocal critics of the "Silence of the Patriots" throughout Spygate and started saying so on the Monday or Tuesday after the story broke in 2007. I see this case differently...for now. The Wells report has not even been out for a week, whereas the Patriots' mishandling of Spygate went on for months. Kraft has three hours from the time the penalties are announced to prove to me that he is taking a different approach this time. After that. **** him.

His initial statement and his silence since, while Tom Brady is being villified by a nation puts him beyond the 'wait and see' point for me.
"We accept the findings and will accept whatever penalty we are given" needs to be recanted if he didn't mean it.

Accepting the findings means that he believes Wells over Brady. Fact.

If that is the case and there are no back channel protestations (which we may never know of) or public expressions of support for Brady, my respect for him will have dropped greatly......

Kraft has been consistent in his public support of Goodell, even during the Ray Rice fiasco. That appears to have earned him zero goodwill from the commissioner.

I would say that it's more about a question that Kraft needs to be asked and have him answer directly:

"Bob, I know you are a very successful businessman, and that doesn't happen without making very shrewd decisions......when it comes to the football team, however, you have professed to be a life-long fan of the New England Patriots.....so when it comes to the team itself, are you a fan first or businessman first? choose one, and we don't need an explanation"

I would actually have more respect for him if he finally admitted that he's businessman first and not blather on about Myra or something

What do you want Kraft to do? Take poor little Tommy to the movies, buy him an ice-cream cone, get him a new bike? Brady can take care of himself just fine.

What worries me the most is Brady having a press conference and casually walk to the podium and in his relaxed tone announce: "I'd like to announce my retirement. It's been great and it is fitting for me to go out on top. It has been made profoundly clear to me that NFL is prepared to proceed without me. Thanks You"

he's going to be 38 the next time there is a pats game.......a ripe old age to up and say one day 'this is not fun anymore and not worth the hassle'

uh, you guys know that Brady has a union, right?

sure he can.........and he could walk away tomorrow ...... he doesn't need anything from anyone, so the first moment this is no longer fun for him, it'll be easy for him to move on.....if you think about it, kraft needs brady more than brady needs kraft.....especially if there is a public perception that kraft helped brady to his retirement.

at his age (38 the next time he plays) he doesn't need any hand holding, but if this is what brady gets from the owner for taking all those below market years, the the perfect scenario would be for brady to have his last game be a 4th quarter comeback and a superbowl MVP win........at 38, I'm not sure I would even be in the mood to appeal......just say 'f*ck it.....I've played this game enough'

It's becoming obvious from his actions.

sure........but I also know that someone at the age of 38 is much more likely to 'f*ck it'

perfect opportunity to gout out in style

It's becoming obvious from his actions.

yeah.....but it's much better to hear him say it

makes it easier for brady to say 'ummmmm.........I'm not giving discounts anymore......I want 20M/yr for 2015/2016/2017 or I quit.....just a business, y'know?'

uh, you guys know that Brady has a union, right?

Of course, but what does that have to do with Kraft standing behind him, and forcefully supporting him?
Do you think the union would object to Kraft releasing a public statement saying he has reviewed the wells report, and disagrees with (list about 10 major flaws) and is offended by the conclusions. That in his view Wells conclusion lacks any credible or logic based upon the dozens of assumptions that he must make to arrive at it?

If that is the case and there are no back channel protestations (which we may never know of) or public expressions of support for Brady, my respect for him will have dropped greatly......
If you think there are back channel protests that we may never know about and your respect for Kraft would drop greatly if they don't exist, how does your respect ever drop, because you can keep convincing yourself he did one thing publicly and what you want privately.
