Kraft was right to not give Parcels full control because he had no understanding of cap economics, he ran the team one season at a time, and had a serious itch to build and go elsewhere, so he really wasn't concerned about the long term health of the team because he wasn't going to be there anyways. Parcels was a great coach but giving him full control is a bad idea.
Kraft didn't luck into Belichick he made a play for him that moved Parcels to suddenly step down and declare himself GM, which Belichick rejected because he was not going have Parcels making the decisions that would seal his future. Kraft then gave up big picks to get the deal done. That wasn't "lucky" that was really smart, he ended up with the GOAT coach and GOAT QB. So you can think he's as lame as you want to but you still won't be able to find an owner in the free agency era who has done a better job, and when asked to you didn't even try.
We have been fortunate, very fortunate over the past 15 years (and counting) to be able to enjoy a GOAT QB, GOAT HC/GM and GOAT owner.
Count 'em please, FOUR championships folks, next September I get to look across from my seats and see FOUR championship banners (i know, it could have and really SHOULD have been 6 if helmit catch is not made and Welker catch is made). But, we have FOUR championships now baby!!
In salary cap / free agent era, FOUR championships speaks for itself , I am positive, even if four is it, no team will come close to four. I happen to think 6 or 7 will be the final number, one or two more for Brady and BB wins one without him, but nobody will get four ever again
Let the debate rage on about all kinds of what ifs and could have should have's, but, please, recognize greatness when we have it.
