The "I'm nervous about Seattle" thread

Green Bay - 178 passing yards, 4.9 yards/pass, 3 of 14 on 3rd down, 2 INT. And that's with 5 (FIVE) "free" possessions from turnovers. Is New England hat much better than Green Bay? Without 5 freebies?

Rodgers didn't have a good game. Plus he was hobbled.

GB made some terrible mental errors in the end. This really hits home the point you make about a 60 minute game. I don't know if GB was having a case of "stretched nerves" or the hometown crowd was in their heads or something else or maybe busy counting their chickens before they were hatched (so to speak), but how they finished that game up/the mental errors are inexplicable.
They've done some research into the concept of "choking", and they found that it's largely about getting into the mindset that you already have the victory, and then being afraid of losing it. This is even when you're behind, such as "We won, all we need to do is convert this touchdown and we're good" and then you throw an interception in the endzone on an ill-advised deep bomb. And from the players you heard this EXACT attitude. For example Rodgers saying "We did enough to win." He and Packers thought they had the victory, and then when it came into jeopardy they were afraid of losing it, which became a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I feel ****ing fantastic. It's the two best teams in football squaring off. The Seahawks will claim the right to refer to themselves as a new dynasty if they win or the Greatest of All Time reaffirms his legend on the national stage.

This is the time for Darrelle Revis, Brandon Browner, Brandon LaFell etc. to shine. This is why Belichick and his team brought you here. Bring that Lombardi back to where it belongs.
I love you, you Aussie bastard!

Seattle has given up 13 pts in the 4th Q in the last 8 games...that is impressive.
Who does that sound like?

Who does that sound like?

That stat is impressive and all but if the Rams and Chargers can put up 28 and 30 points respectively on Seattle we should be able to match that.

I was thinking this morning, how refreshing it is to not have to worry about a key Patriots players health heading into the big game like last time. Now Seattle fans can worry about Sherman and Thomas...

They won't score 20 without some special teams gaffes or dumb turnovers by our offense

We are going to kick the living snot out of those frauds

Yay... onto the Super Bowl! Boo... Seahawks. The one team we reeeeeeeally didn't want to face. That defense. Legion of Boom! Beast Mode! Russell Wilson!

Back to back titles? or nah? Can Brady and the Pats possibly stop them?

do you realize that seahawks fans are going to read this thread and laugh at how scared we are of the seahawks? we sound like a bunch of cowards with stuff like this.

I hope they're there, 100%.

To be the best, you beat the best.
Only defeated teams really remember who lost the Superbowl (so it doesn't matter who you beat, you still win it all regardless of the competition. The only defeated team to be remembered, unfortunately, are the 2007 Patriots.

Basically, nobody says the losing teams were creampuffs (fro ma historical perspective). I don't care if their entire secondary is unavailable, no tears or sympathy from anyone will ever happen.

exactly. nobody cares that brady had a high ankle sprain in SB42 and gronk had the same injury in SB46. No one. All the rest of the NFL fanbase does is laugh at us for "choking" those games.

Anyone know if we get to choose our jersey color? Or does Seattle?

We're both #1 seeds and finished with the same record. Same record against common opponents too (3-2)

I think the big difference is that Seattle had the huge advantages of A) playing at home (where they have perhaps the biggest home-field advantage of any one team) and B) playing a gimpy-legged Rodgers. Don't get me wrong, the defense was mightily impressive. And to the characterization of the turnovers as "freebies," those weren't freebies--they were bad plays and they are warranted.

And to your general observations that NEP fans are optimistic, realize that we went from being left-for-dead to Superbowl participants, and this comeback was not without sustaining injuries and playing playoff-bound opponents. The team has earned some bravado. On top of that, Seattle looks mortal, and they didn't look like it last year around this time.

I'm sure he was hobbled against the cowboys too he still played pretty well then.

At home =/= on the road in Seattle

Cowboys defense =/= Seattle defense

F' that! It wouldn't bother me one bit if we didn't have to go up against one of the best backfield tandems in the NFL in the Superbowl. Can't control it so I won't worry about it though. IMO Seattle is the worst possible matchup we could've asked for, but again, that's why they play the game.

Do you still feel the same way about seattle as you did a few weeks ago? This is not the same seattle team from last year.
I said a few weeks ago that we would have to win a defensive contest and, yes, I still believe that. Seattle's defense is scary. Their offense is not.

This thread was meant in a sarcastic manner wasn't it???

You all can buy the Seattle hype. As long as our run defense shows up, I think we'll be alright. I'm not saying it'll be easy, but NE has been beating good teams all year. That's the mark of this team. They show up in every situation for any type of fight.
