NFL playoffs: Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers - odds, preview and prediction

I'm guessing you can't wait for the next game to start lol

Next game is a playoff game..this looks like a preseason/reg season game. Newton sucks. Cards don't have a QB

So, I see that Carolina already has 16 1st downs. I'm not watching the game, but is the Arizona D really playing that bad?

Public service announcement:

if you're not following Matt Chatham on Twitter, tonight's a good night to start. In top form tonight.

Some people calling RiverBoat Ron COTY...ha ha....very undisciplined team the Panthers are today...

Come on Ginn, 5 seconds left, and you go out of bound and don't try bad beat the kicker?

It;s more like...Car can't get into the EZ...and it's pathetic

Honestly not sure how Carolina has fans

No surprise to see a team demonstrate if you have a losing record you shouldn't be in the playoffs. Worst record and they have home field.....this crap needs to be fixed.

Some key halftime stats:

Turnovers --Panthers 2, Cardinals 0
Arizona ranked 5th in turnover differential in 2014; that had a lot to do with how a team that ranked 24th in both offensive and defensive yardage went 11-5.

First Downs --- Panthers 16, Cardinals 6
Total Yards ---- Panthers 208, Cardinals 65
Yards per Play - Panthers 5.6, Cardinals 2.2

Carolina has shown they can control the ball, but it does no good if they can't protect it.

Yards per Pass -- Panthers 4.9, Cardinals 2.2
Until the final drive Carolina was lower; those are both pathetic numbers.

Rushing Yards -- Panthers 105, Cardinals 28
Yards per Rush -- Panthers 6.6, Cardinals 2.3

We knew Arizona had no running game, but they need to do a better job at stopping Carolina on the ground if they are to win this game.

Drew Butler --- five punts for an average of 32.8 yards
As bad as that is, consider that Butler did have one punt for 52 yards.
The other four punts averaged just 28 yards apiece.

Arizona with 65 Total Yards of Offense
Antonio Cromartie had nearly as many yards on his interception return (50) as Arizona did on their 29 offensive plays.

It's perfect as it is! This barely ever happens.

Each division sends a team to the play offs. Wildcards (division losers) get in too.

This won't happen every year.

When teams with ten + wins sit at home and teams like the panthers play, it's broke. It has cost the Pats before, and regardless of who is sitting, it is pretty much welfare. A team should be there because they earn it, not from entitlement.

My wife's brother has a term for such games.
He calls it watching "mindless football".

I agree, it's rare, that's why a small tweak to the HFA rule won't hurt anything. If you are .500 or below you don't host. Simple

A team with a losing record is still in the playoffs which is what most people are complaining about.

By that logic all teams should have the same schedule as well. Chargers playing the NFC West earned the WC spot more than Ravens playing the South, right?

just got back home, after watching this abortion at a local pub...I'm just fed up with this crap.

First off, I made a post in another thread a few days back about the four ref crews we do NOT want to see...THIS is one of them for EXACTLY the reason I put forth. This hamheaded pinbrain Hockaloogie needs to be put out to pasture or pasteurized. This game has been Hochuli-ed. It is NOT about YOU, Ed...don't you GET that???? Nobody cares about you or your geriatric tough guy act...and I can say that because I am OLDER than you...can't stand this goof.

Secondly, say what you want about the modern football player but...more than a few of these supermen have exactly ZERO football sense. Take that idiot that misplayed that punt...WTF WAS THAT??????????????? Does he have any idea what to do in a FOOTBALL GAME??? Compound that with the ridiculous roughing the passer penalty two downs into that series. You have Arizona going backwards, make a huge stop to force third and long and "tough guy!!!!!!: has to break out the mongo Suh bullshyt. Just had to bash the QB and pound the chest because HE showed the whole world how bad he is...oh, yeah, AND just plain stupid. No football sense whatsoever.

Third, who RUNS the football team? Is it the coach? Or is it just "I'm a huge star with commercials so I'll just do what I want even if it's braindead stupid on the field"... I have no rooting interest in this game whatsoever so I'm being about as coldly analytical as possible. Carolina SHOULD have this game well in hand and looking to keep the boot to Arizona's neck in the 2nd half. Instead, they TRAIL!!! #1, it's a failure at the coaching level. #2, it's an organizational unawareness of WHAT constitutes a FOOTBALL player as opposed to super athlete. They got some good football players, but they have some real useless athletes playing at being football players.

Then those 10+ teams should of won their divisions. Who cares about 10 wins? Who did they come against? If most of them came against your division, chances are you're going to the play offs.

I understand the `This team is not a playoff worthy team` sentiment, but consider the ramifications of what you're proposing.

If divisions aren't each sending their representative (champion) to the play offs, then divisions become pointless. If divisions become pointless, rivalries die. If rivalries die, Pitts v Ravens, Pats v Jets, Hawks v Niners, Packers v Bears all become yesterdays news.

The entire regular season just becomes a 17 week series of random games, and the play offs heavily favor teams with soft, weak ass schedules.

The system is fine as it is, it might just have to suffer an anomaly once every 10 or 15 years.

What happened this year is one very weak division sent a very weak team to represent itself in the playoffs.

No biggie

First off this is a terrible game, neither team should be here. Had to make a costco run just so I could clear my head from watching this debacle.

Good job by the NFL, 7-9 hosting 11-5 it's a sin.

Riverboat Ron - huh, whatever, boat sunk

Refs: looks like they are not going to let guys play in the post season....should be interesting.
