Anyone Wanna See What "All-In" Looks Like?

[snip]
But then again, this is just my opinion of Fisher, no one else is required to agree

I'm with you, Ken...while there aren't enough bad things in the world that can happen to Dan Snyder, the act alone--of sending out those six players as captains--is so bush league. Successful franchises and coaches don't need to 'show up' their opponents--especially not opponents who are reeling--they let their rings do the talking. They let their play on the field do the talking.

People around here still make fun of Tomlinson for his 'classy' comments and how he's been a ****weed sore winner himself. This is the coach version of a ****weed sore winner, rubbing the Skins face in the trade when they're already falling apart at the seams.

And this has nothing to do with whether or not Fisher is a good coach, whether or not the Rams have had success on their own. You don't get to rub your opponents face in sh*t just because you're better than them. Real class, unlike Tomlinson's definition, is to be gracious in defeat, humble in victory...this is just gloating from a sore winner.

Can you imagine the reaction here if there were a similar trade situation and Rex Ryan pulled a stunt like this in Foxboro? We'd be APOPLECTIC, and for good reason. Complete bush league move, as someone who sits on the competition committee he should be absolute ashamed with himself.

Something I've been pondering: has any team ever benefited in the long term from one of these trades that give up a king' ransom of draft picks for a single player? Even when you hit on the player, like Julio Jones with the Falcons, you're left with long-term damage to your team's talent pipeline.
Still pretty early, but If Watkins can improve on his Rookie year, the Bills might have made the best choice

I find it somewhat weird that this upsets anyone. I like the fact that it is classless. To a certain degree I have always seen football as classless where guys are literally trying to knock each other out and talk smack while doing it. I can appreciate sportsmanship, but I like it when teams genuinely don't like each other and that was a massive barb before the game even started.

I don't even really hate Fisher though he is a punk. BB sometimes comes off as smug. These kind of things in sports make it more entertaining and it drives fans to root for or against them.

Sh*t talking on the field is healthy competition. Barbs between coaches during the week is gamesmanship. Belichick is smug, and can be a sore loser...but he would NEVER pull a stunt like this.

I'm not upset over this, I just think it's a crap move from a crap coach.

I'd be willing to bet that by the time things are all said and done, they would have been better staying pat and taking Beckham Jr. But that's just me.

I still think this was the right move to make for the Redskins, at least in theory without the benefit of hindsight. At the end of the day, you simply can't win without an elite qb in this league (or at least a qb who hotstreaks into one see Eli/Flacco). Years go by and you can have absolutely great players at almost every position, but you still won't win without that qb (see the 49ers).

A bad trade is essentially wiped out after 4 years in this league (the time for a rookie contract to end). It's better to keep looking for qbs that you know will serve you 15+ years, even if it means you are terrible for a few years as a consequence of trading up.

Anyway, they'll have to make a similar gamble at some point soon as well.

I think the reason its wrong is that the chances the guy you trade up for will become great as not much higher than drafting the guy who falls to you. Certainly not worth giving up that much.
I don't know who would have been there if they stayed put, but I think their franchise would be in better shape today if they kept those picks and played Cousins (who I think is terribly overrated by the way) these last 3 years.
The Rams are in much better shape having a strong team lacking a QB than the Redskins who now have a weak team lacking a QB.
I agree with your thinking of needing a good QB just disagree that you increase the chances of getting one by moving up and spending so many other necessary assets.

Well, I think the argument is for Minnesota in this case, not Dallas. Minnesota went "all in" for Walker, and Dallas walked away the winner.

Off the top of my head, the Elway trade where Denver got Elway for QB MArk Hermann and two first rounders (IIRC), which became Ron Solt and ..???.....was definitely a win for the team that went all in, Denver in this case...

Edit- third piece was rights to OT Chris Hinton ..

Dumb move, Fisher basically just guaranteed that Washington wont be making any deals with the Rams any time soon.

What's Ironic both teams are still relatively in the same spot they were in when they made those trades.

At least Washington made the playoffs.

I know that St. Louis has a really talented bunch of guys.. but they have NO QB still!

Trajectory.

The Redskins got the quick sugar rush of RGIII.

The Rams took the initial step back and built their team slower and with a solid base. As a result, the team that does not have the owner with ADD is better off for the long-term.

It's the Tortoise and the Hare story. St Louis has gone 5-3 their last 8 with wins over Denver, Seattle and San Francisco. They have lost nailbiters the SD, Philly and Dallas. They aren't chopped liver and they are getting better.

You can't see that?

I'm with Shmessy. If you live in Virginia and have to listen to the day in and day out drama surrounding the Washington dumpster fire, this is pretty funny. Apparently when the trade went through Snyder and his cronies flew to some tropical island and partied all night, thinking they had won where no one else (the Browns were also trying to do a deal) could. Apparently when the Rams brass heard about the partying they wondered whether they should have tried to get more. LOL!

Whatever, I find this pretty entertaining but then I have never made any secret of my disdain with the whole notion of classiness. I even hate the word.

ITT a bunch of old dorks who take football way too seriously.

It was funny **** you dummies.

The Rams definitely got the better of the deal, even at the time it was made, but…

Phukk Jeff Fisher, I hate his NonCompetition-Committee-Member-for Life azz.

Who is this supposed franchise quarterback for the Buffalo Bills?

An interesting question for sure. If nothing else, Manning has benefit from better head coaching than Rivers ever has. Swap those two QB's and you might see the same exact successes between the two teams.

And Manning has unbelieveable luck at the most opportune time. Plus we helped him get his 2 SB's

Bully? Are you kidding me?
I'm no Jeff Fisher fan, in fact I have been saying lately this years Rams are the true example of a Fisher team, look great as soon as they are out of it.
But, my God, how can you not see the value for a coach to take 6 players who were traded for 1, and highlight that in the game against him? "Look guys, the Redskins thought that one guy was more valuable that all of you" BB would do the same thing. He may not send them out for the coin toss (who really cares) but he would be talking up that angle all week.
Kicking them when they are down? Really? If it bothered them that much, then thats the reason he should do it. Competitive advantage, very Art of War-like, very BB-like.
There are many reasons to rail on Fisher, but this isn't one of them, unless we want to just stop playing football and give points for politeness, political correctness, and apologizing and helping the other guy up if you mistakenly should knock him to the ground. Of course, a public apology may then be necessary, because you may have hurt his feelings too.

I don't think BB would try to show up an opponent like that (coin toss). Just my opinion, I'm not making a big argument about it. It's petty.

This is a clear example why a really rich guy(with no NFL experience) should not be involved in the daily operations of a football organization... a clusterf..ck of great magnitude.

Thank god for Mr. Kraft....

When I think of Dan Snyder the memory of the Herschel Walker trade come to mind...

I just don't think it makes sense to pull this move.

The Rams may want to do business with the Skins in the future. The fact JF has just punked them out means that there won't be any chance of that happening on general bloody principle..

We have a good relationship (for us) with Tampa, but if the Dark Lord comes out and starts taking the piss out of them, don't be surprised if they never trade with us until Jimmy G is getting ready to retire. Bill won't however as he is a smart guy.

JF is an idiot on that level.

Completely agree. Watkins may end up being a stud, but I think Beckham will be as good if not better, and he wouldn't have cost an extra 1st plus change.
