For some reason, I am ambivalent about this. Josh reminds me of a nursery rhyme:

Josh is a pretty good OC but I don't think I'd want him for a HC. I seriously question his ability to evaluate talent.

What gives the people in Florida any confidence that Josh McDaniels could recruit college players to pick Florida over Alabama, LSU, South Carolina, Auburn, Miami, Florida State, etc, etc, etc?

And, why would Josh want to put up with the NCAA, campus politics, overzealous alumni, parents, and 18-year-old kids who've been coddled in high school?

Bad fit.

Constantly trying to prove he is the smartest guy in the room.
Key play early in that game was the hurry up on 3rd and two and then get penalized.Stupid. Absolutely no call for that. Take your time line up and bang em. If They stop you they stop you. I mean how many times has that failed this year with hurry up in a run situation.

a good portion of the broncos are McDaniel's talent.

Cutler is a **** QB and McDaniel's dropped him.

the biggest downfall of Mcdaniel's time in Denver is the fact that the owner had no faith, and wanted to move on after two seasons.

That and drafting Tebow.

Edit: I'm not a Tebow hater one bit, but McD drafting Tebow and getting nothing out of him (the Tebow year happened under Fox) is largely what he's remembered for in Denver.

He has Tom Brady and possibly some sort of Brady-Rodgers hybrid waiting in the wings. Why would he want to leave to go to that mess?

For someone who's never been in the college game this would be a weird as hell hire. I doubt he'll be the choice, we'll see. I'm sure Daboll is the next man up if it were to happen.

That and drafting Tebow.

And then lobbying Belichick to bring Tebow to New England to compete for a roster spot in camp.

Do you think Josh believes that going to coach a college program is going to better prepare him to be a head coach in the NFL down the road? Charlie Weis was a disaster at Kansas and ill-suited for Notre Dame.

It worked for Pete Carroll and would appear to be working for Bill O'Brien. It did not work for guys like Nick Saban, Steve Spurrier, Butch Davis, Lou Holtz, etc.

I can see where he would make a lot more money, especially if he can put a top ten team on the field in the SEC. But I cannot imagine it will go well at the University of Florida.

Josh does well with a Two score lead and terrible when he's down two scores. When games are Tight against Good Teams Josh doesn't coach so well. I wouldn't be sad to see him go he might do well on the College level.

That and drafting Tebow.

He needed a QB. He was able to maneuver enough to gain plenty of makeup picks. Tebow was the 2nd QB taken. Tebow was the 2nd best QB in that draft. Tebow took a team to a playoff win.

In the end, despite people bagging on the pick, Tebow was a net gain for that franchise.

Traded #11 for #13 and a 4th
Traded #13 for #24 and two 3rds
Traded #24 and a 4th for #22
Traded a 2nd, 3rd and 4th for #25

So, trading down netted a 4th and 2 3rds, and trading up netted a 1st and a moveup for a 2nd, 3rd and 4th, meaning Tebow was basically a free pick (or, to be more precise, didn't really cost anything to be taken in round 1 rather than round 2).

That said, he's a top tier O.C., and I hope he doesn't make the move.

I am tired of this guy possibly leaving every season. Let him go and get someone that will stick around here long term. We need stability for the inevitable change when Brady/BB hangs it up.

MEH .... as long as Belichick is here we'll be fine.
Josh is an okay OC ... better than average IMO but not great.

I actually think he's a pretty good OC. If he left, I have confidence that his replacement, whether Brian Dabol or someone else, would be a good one, also. I don't always care for his play-calling and I think the offense sometimes abandons the run too quickly, but I overall like McDaniels.

Managing the talent was the issue for him in Denver. He more or less chased Cutler, Marshall and Hillis out of town.

I miss Charlie Weiss.

Somewhere in Arizona, an older gentleman just fell off his chair ... As he rolled across the linoleum he was overheard mumbling about Mike Holovak, slant passes, and newsletter-publishing in the good old days.
