Supafly,
I beg to differ. The Broncos are NOT scoring at the rate they did last season. Hillmam at 5-9 190 lb is not the franchise back Moreno was at 220#. Sanders at 5-11 is not a Near #1 WR receiver, that Eric Decker was at 6-3 215. Welker bless his heart, is another year older and less quick than he was. Even Peyton arm is less robust than before.
Their DL defense is improved with the return of Miller and the acquisition of Ware. But their LBs are weaker without Trevanthan. I don't care what anyone says. Chris Blair is a smurf DB, and nowhere near Champ Bailey even in his dotage. Talib is an upgrade 'till he gets his annual ding. Robey is a raw rookie. Period.
The Broncos simply ARE NOT what they used to be.
To each his own, my friend. You aren't the board's #1 homer for nothing! While I consider myself about 75% homer, I do prefer to try and keep an open mind.
1) Moreno was hardly a "franchise back" last year or any year. How was he before 2013? How about after? That's almost funny to hear you say that. He had a
good year last year as any RB would in that offense, but c'mon....Knowshown Moreno as a "franchise back?" He was seriously lucky not to have been cut prior to last year, and was the sole reason why they spent a 2nd round pick on Montae Ball.
2)
The comment that "Eric Decker was a #1 wide receiver" is hilarious....do you even believe what you type sometimes? Obviously, Demarius Thomas is and has been their #1 WR and is clearly one of the best WRs in the entire game. They haven't even come close to losing any "#1" wide receivers. They lost Eric Decker and replaced him with Emmanuel Sanders. That's IT. Some believe that move has even allowed them to improve, so you've got nothing in this area.
3) Denver is in the top 5 of many defensive categories, so to hear you say that the loss of Travethan has
set them back is odd to me. He had a good start to his career as a coverage LB, but I think they're managing just fine without him. They've added to their LB corps with
DeMarcus Ware for crying out loud, who along with Von Miller have 16 sacks among them! I would imagine that the Denver fanbase could easily say the same thing about us by pointing to the loss of Jerod Mayo or Chandler Jones (both who are much better than Travathan).
4) I have no idea who "Chris Blair" is, so I cannot comment on that one. As a whole the DEN secondary has held up pretty well, and has actually improved since last year. I don't know how this would be considered a step back for them? They added TJ Ward and Aqib Talib, so I don't imagine that anyone's going to be crying any tears for their so-called demise. 1st round pick Roby is raw like any other first year CB is, but the addition of him doesn't make them go backwards.
