Good article find B6. Thank dude. I have said this b4 he is DPOY candidate. Everybody here knows I'm not over optimistic or bias in favor of our own players. He is one of the most explosive Qwik twitch defenders in the NFL. He can cover, his instincts improving every passing week. Forgive me my friends here for suggesting this. He could use 10-12 lbs of functional muscle like you can say about almost all qwik twitch defenders entering the league including Demarcus Ware who entered 6'3 3/4 255LBs. Filled out to nearly 270 and rest is history. Same with Clay Matthews 6'3 245 and filled out to 260 his first season and became an elite passrusher. Collins reminds me of Claymaker or Ware but Collins is more natural in overall LB duties. He is an X factor in our defense. This is a guy who could be double digit sack artist as a 3-4 rush OLB playing olb in a 4-3 role. When he blitzes, offenses while trying to contain our 4 down lineman will have no answer for him. But I'm serious he does need an additional 10 lbs of muscle. He has the frame for it,won't slow him down at all.
I know saying he needs to adDE10 lbs or so can sound negative. But almost all player of his skill set you can say that for. Cleveland took Mingo #6 overall and that's first thing they mentioned as did Dallas with Ware and packers said with Matthews. Here's the thing, with minor tweaks of certain players which are done all the time by teams, this defense has more talent than the Seahawks. Easley, a rare talent as a rookie will be most disruptive DT in the NFL,Jones steadily improving physical skills,Zach Moore has raw skills equal to almost any pro bowl DE,Hightower is fairly athletic for a 270lb mlb(but slightly to big for a speedy passing league)but if he adds a touch of burst/quickness he is the most unique mlb in this league then. And it will show up when in coverage or closing on a duel threat qb. Reevis,Dennard,Ryan are as good as any 3CBs in the NFL. McCourty sticking finally at fs will finally be recognized as Earl Thomas Caliber. Browner probably takes some snaps at SS. He is unquestioned the best SS in the NFL. Better in coverage than Chancellor. At 6'3 1\2 224 Lbs he can cover any TE in this league and most big WRs(may struggle with speedy ones but handles most) He can drop in zone deep or the slot well as Byrd or Ward. But what separates Browner is he can man up any TE. Shorter SS's like them cant. Browner also is a sure physical tackler. Not quite the hitter Chancellor is but can handle more coverage duties. Browner/McCourty gives us 2 physical sure tackling safety's elite in any coverage as safetys on par with corners. Logan Ryan makes jump this year to pro bowl status. He is long physical with terrific makeup speed gear and elite ball skills. With improved passrush 7\8 ints wouldn't surprise anybody. Wilfork/Kelly can occupy blockers and free up the playmakers on defense. A healthy Mayo's return is important and pulls the defense together and adds another fast capable LB.
I know saying Hightower is best at 255( still huge mlb) upsets some but this is a passing league with speed to burn and then some. Duel threat qbs are a serious threat gashing defenses for 200 YARDS rushing is VERY real. ANY Lb at any time BETTER be able to cut them off for more manageable gains instead of GameChanger 50/70 yard runs. 10 lbs of muscle and power helps the young Collins in becoming the most dangerous defender in the NFL. Seattle's defense will pretty much be forgotten as fast as hairbands did when grunge/alternative hit like a bomb. Our Defense could be known as the NFL Alternative/Grunge to Big Offense and duel threat qbs.
Browner never played a snap at SS in his NFL career. Ever. In fact he's at his worst playing zone. I can see BB using him the way he used Talib on Graham on TE's but that's it.
Calling a guy who's never played the position the best in the NFL is a huge stretch.
