We need a poll – Would you sign DeSean Jackson if you ran the Patriots?

I would not sign him, and not because of the gang rumors but because of the work ethic concerns and the idiotic premature touchdown celebrations.

Impossible to make a decision based on his release. You can only form your opinions based on him being a Diva.

Everything else about him is alleged, I don't know what the front office knows or will know, so yeah.

Gang ties basically eliminates him. It isn't going to happen. Even if we could afford him, Kraft won't allow it, and Belichick wouldn't go for it after Hernandez.
It would be a PR disaster, and rightfully so.

We get a pass on Hernandez because such and such, but we can't make the same mistake twice in as many seasons.

I think I should preface this by saying this isn't a shot.

With all the issues with Hernandez, I think the last thing the Patriots want to be associated with is another guy who may indeed have gang ties. It might be a black mark on the organization if he signs with you guys.

His gang ties aren't alleged he is openly supporting a crip who murdered a. 14 year old and posts photos of them together and is calling for him to be "freed." The G is also under contract to Jackson's record label.

Yep, this, pretty much 100%. I'm not sure Kraft could stomach it, regardless of where the truth of the matter lies - the perception is now out there about DJ. If the Patriots signed him, it'd turn into a media storm of pretty epic proportions.

And some team may do their due diligence, decide there's nothing to the allegations, opt to sign him for an affordable salary and benefit

But in the post-Hernandez world of the Patriots, I just don't see this happening

Hopefully young NFL hopefuls are paying attention - even the HINT of gang ties is going to make you personae non grata with most of the teams in the NFL even you have a PROVEN record of productivity on the field...

... let alone if you're a young unproven rookie coming out of college

If you have a dream of playing in the NFL one day, don't associate with the people that have negatively impacted the career of Hernandez and Jackson
