The Patriots would be fools not to take a serious look at this kid. It doesn't mean that they should grab him, but immediately ruling him out without damned good reason (and "AHern!" isn't damned good reason) would be a failure of the front office/ownership.
And "Chip doesn't like him" does not qualify as a damned good reason, either.
The Patriots are a brand and whether you want to accept it or not the Hernandez situation was a significant stain to that brand. Unfortunately that stain has to play into the decision making process for the current time anyway.
The hardcore fan may say hell yeah sign this guy who cares, I love that the Pats are all about winning. The more casual fan will rip the team from ear to ear saying it doesn't care about anything but winning and puts the publics safety at risk by employing thugs. Unfortunately there are more casual fans than hardcore fans.
