He will be in my prayers. I hope he fully recovers from this terrible disease. Ultimately things are in God's hands.

Best wishes to Mr. Kelly.

My very sincere best wishes to Jim. He can beat this.

Best wishes to probably the most underrated QB of my lifetime. This guy was great.

I lost my 50-year-old sister last November to colon cancer. Very rough on my niece. Prayers to Kelly and especially his wife and kids.

Good luck Jim. This is about life, not sports. Prayers to you and your family.

I met Jim Kelly at the Eagles vs Pats Super Bowl in Jacksonville.

A bunch of us Pats fans were hanging out at a bar called the "Amsterdam" just outside the gates of the stadium. You could throw a rock and hit an entrance to the venue. Id had never met any of these NE fans, but there were 2 brothers from Mass that had everyone in stitches with their stories.

So, were all sitting there laughing and I glance over and there are 2 guys standing off to the side talking and drinking beers. I knew it was Jim Kelly immediately and later found out the other guy was his brother.

Jim Kelly was HUGE. He looked like he could play LB that minute and Im not kidding.

Hope him all the best. He was one Scott Norwood miss away from having a SB ring. I bet that seems like a minor thing to him now.

Deepest and best thoughts going out to Jim Kelley and his family at this time.

Man, that is a couple of tough blows, he's had a sick kid, cancer, and Norwood! You can only hope for the best. That ESPN commerical with him and Vinateri shows that he still has a great sense of humor, but its being tested.

great pic of him and his daughter, and yes, he still looks like he is in great shape!

Best of luck to one of the toughest QBs of my lifetime. Kelly was one of the last old school QBs that played in the era of truly kill the QB. Just sad for the family. They've been through so much already.

My Son & Nephew's favorite QB growing up.
Speedy Recovery, Best Wishes, Cares & Prayers, God Bless Jim.

great QB, great leader. I remember as a kid going to all of the Bills/Patriots games when at that point the roles were reversed and we were the mediocare team. That Bills team was fun to watch and Kelly always classy. I wish him good health

Sad news, my best wishes and thoughts go out to him.

Best wishes to him and his family. I enjoyed watching him run the hurry up offense. Great QB.

Thoughts and prayers going out to Jim Kelly.. I always disliked him because he was at his best when the Pats were at their worst..

From Mike Rodak, via Mike Loyko on Twitter:

Jim Kelly’s wife Jill announces that surgery has been canceled. “The cancer is in areas that surgery cannot successfully eradicate."

Ominous news. Having taken care of many of these patients, it sounds like the tumor is either encasing major blood vessels (such as the carotid artery) or has clearly spread via lymphatics to remote regions.

Not good at all.
