The 2014 Mock draft Thread.

I'm not saying Seattle wouldn't make that trade. I'm saying that BB isn't going to get their 2 + 5 to make that trade. At most a 3, and probably just a 4 or a 5.

Fair enough. I will keep that in mind for my next mock.

Trades –

- Ryan Mallett and pick #93 to the Minnesota Vikings for pick #40 and pick #104.
- Pick #29 to the Washington Redskins for pick #34 and #66.

Mock –

#34-Stephon Tuitt, DT
#40-Xavier Su'a-Filo, OG
#62-Jimmie Ward, DB
#66-C.J. Fiedorowicz, TE
#104-Antone Exum, DB
#126-Jeff Janis, WR
#182-Aaron Lynch, DE
#190-Zach Kerr, DT
#TBD-J.C. Copeland, FB
#221-Trey Burton, TE

I would consider Colt Lyerla at #221 over Burton but I am really at odds with his character issues.

It had little to nothing at all to do with the Senior Bowl week.

I didn't point to anyone here. It was something I noticed all over the place. It was similar to what happened with Poe 2 years ago, but without the reservations. That's sort of the point. Poe was a 350 lb freak of nature, but people still looked at his weak competition and thought his production was too low. Clowney is another freak, but people have pointed to a production drop and a questioned work ethic. Robinson is talked about as being raw.

Donald was basically getting a pass, on the other hand.

With respect to your very valid point about Combine Hysteria: You're evidently a little late to the party.

Donald has been skyrocketing for quite a while, now.

With me, it started a long time before the Senior Bowl.

That's because, judging by your question, you didn't understand my point.

I understood your point perfectly. With that body type a truly great player is rare. You cited John Randle a HOF talent. I gave you Glover who may or may not join him. If you don't understand that an All Decade Team player would quality as great then you're the one missing the point. Glover had as good of a career as Richard Seymour who you still lament on trading.

Whoa, whoa....we're signing 14 free agent, 9 from other teams, 2 for over 6 million a year, another 3 over 3 million a year, 2 WRs making about 8 mil combined, plus 2 other WRs? Just how much is the salary cap? Did we trade Amendola somewhere? Do we have any guards that can start? Just so many questions here.

It's a 2014 Madden Football fantasy, especially considering the New England Patriots have yet to cut a roster player let alone renegotiate one contract.

There are seven player signed to one year non guarantee deals, they are camp competition and not all of them will stick.

The players all fit under the salary cap, if you see the thread on the main page titled "Brady6 offseason plan 1.0" it outlines the contracts and how they all fit.

I would aim higher if it was actually that.

As the salary cap goes up players are going to want more money. Mack is going to command about 50 million.

2014 New England Patriots Mock Draft - 2/26/14 :D

Round 6 - Phillip Gaines, CB - Rice (253)

After running in the high 4.3's at the Combine, Gains will be gone by the end of round two...or so I would think. And remember that CBs are always taken higher than projected; teams are desperate for CBs. It is the rarest commodity on draft day.

Substitute Dontae Johnson, CB/FS - North Carolina State if you feel the selection is unrealistic.

Fascinating. Tell me more.
Throughout the years on the PatsFans Message Board:

2009: Matt Cassel is worth two first round draft picks
2012: Bryan Hoyer is worth a second round draft
2013: Ryan Mallett is worth the sixth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft

Quick bump.

- Cut or restructure Vince Wilfork
- Re-sign Aqib Talib
- Re-sign LeGarrette Blount
- Either re-sign Julian Edelman or sign a UFA WR like Sidney Rice
- Sign a UFA DE like Michael Johnson (fantasy: Greg Hardy - won't happen, but it would be unreal)
- Dream: trade Ryan Mallett and Stevan Ridley to Houston for #33. I'll keep it for this mock, even though it's a long shot.

Draft:

- Trade #29 and 62 to Dallas for #16.

16. Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh. Explosiveness score of 76, mobility score of 17.77 for a DT = unreal athleticism, plus tremendous motor, intelligence and combat skills.

- Trade 33 to Jacksonville for 39 and 102.
- Trade 39 to San Francisco for 56 and 77.

56. Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington.

77. Best available interior OL: Joel Bitonio, Marcus Martin, Weston Richburg or Travis Swanson.

93. Justin Ellis, NT, Louisiana Tech. Ellis and Sealver Siliga would be a solid young tandem at NT.

102. Antone Exum, DB, Virginia Tech. I seem him as aSS conversion, and think he will eventually be a great compliment to Devin McCourty, but he can also play outside press-man CB.

4b. Jordan Tripp, LB, Montana. Versatile LB with the athleticism to play in space and cover and the explosiveness to come off the edge.

6a. Jeff Janis, WR, Saginaw Valley St. Big WR with elite movement skills. Needs to learn how to catch the ball.

6b. Dontae Johnson, DB, North Carolina. Big CB/S with excellent mobility. Phillip Gaines or Jonathan Dowling would be options.

6 (comp). Larry Webster, DE/TE, Bloomsburg. Move TE conversion with tremendous agility and potential explosiveness.

7. Tyler Gaffney, RB, Stanford or Lorenzo Taliaferro, Coastal Carolina. Big RBs with good mobility to replace Stevan Ridley in a RBBC.

6a. Jeff Janis, WR, Saginaw Valley St. Big WR with elite movement skills. Needs to learn how to catch the ball.

I suspect Janis will come off the board well before Tripp does, so I'll mentally flip-flop these.
