NFC team you’d least want to face if we are fortunate enough to make the Super Bowl?

Obviously the Seahawks. They have really enhanced the level of their performance ever since Pete Carroll took over.

I see what you did there

Re: NFC team you’d least want to face if we are fortunate enough to make the Super Bo

1. Seattle
2. San Francisco
3. Green Bay
4. Carolina
5. New Orleans
6. Philadelphia

That said, there won't be a single NFC team that I "root for" to get in, any of them would make me nervous in the Super Bowl. No weak teams in that bunch.

Re: NFC team you’d least want to face if we are fortunate enough to make the Super Bo

Maybe I put too much emphasis on the cold/outdoors/February thing, but my list goes:

- Packers (least want to play); if they're in, they'll have gained a ton of confidence from Rodgers' return. And cold/winter? No problem.
- Niners. Just so solid all around, can match any style
- Seahawks. Tough all around; coming to East Coast doesn't always work out for them, but they'll have more time to adjust leading up to game.
- Saints. Always weary of teams out for revenge.
- Panthers. Revenge would be sweet.
- Eagles.

The '85 Bears.

I think the Pats can take them.

The Fridge at 450 pounds plus these days would be tough to move. The rest of that team has probably lost a step or two.:)

Re: NFC team you’d least want to face if we are fortunate enough to make the Super Bo

Let's just worry about the fine team they'll have to beat even to get to the AFCCG. Last time I checked, the Pats were one and done two of the last four times they got to the Playoffs, including after a Bye.

One game at a time. One game at a time.

Re: NFC team you’d least want to face if we are fortunate enough to make the Super Bo

What I don't want is a team good enough to make it to the Super Bowl despite erratic quarterback play, because erratic QBs too often get their s*** together in the postseason vs. the Pats.

Re: NFC team you’d like to face when we get to the Super Bowl?

What would Belichick think of such a thread?

I think that Belichick has an understanding of the teams in the NFC and who we matchup best with if we get to the Super Bowl. I know Bill says the 1 game at a time line a lot to the media but he would be the best coach of all time if he didn’t think and plan for the short, medium and long term.

No doubt. The difference is he'd never let on to anyone outside his inner circle that he was doing it.

Re: NFC team you’d like to face when we get to the Super Bowl?

This is the kind of thread that shows up on other boards and makes us look like obnoxious A-holes.

One game at a time ... the next one.

It's a fan forum! As fans, we all like to talk about different scenarios and outcomes. We aren't on the team and there are no worries about distractions by speaking aloud.

I would least likely want to face San Fran or Seattle... Tough defenses with play-makers on Offense.

...

I take your point, but we'll just have to disagree. Maybe I'm just too souperstishus.

Re: NFC team you’d like to face when we get to the Super Bowl?

You're right. I have to start watching game tape of potential divisional round opponents and get to Gillette tomorrow to hit the weights. I wouldn't want to upset coach.

Seriously, who cares? We're FANS. Why do we have to take it one game at a time? My list...

1. Seahawks
2. Panthers
3. Packers
4. Saints
5. 49ers
6. Eagles/Cowboys

I'm sure Belichick doesn't care what I think and what I say here probably won't matter, so my list goes like this;

1. GB - They get the nod because of the weather card and the fact that they have done it before.
2. Seattle - They're just plain good.
3. SF - I couldn't bear to see another Harbaugh SB. The constant shots of him whining to the refs are too much.
4. NO - They would have been higher if they weren't a dome team.
5. Philly - I'd rather the Pats and Belichick get to see more of Chip Kelly's offense though.
6. I would really enjoy a chance for the Pats to have a little payback. We could win on a perfect pick play with a flag thrown and then picked up.

Re: NFC team you’d least want to face if we are fortunate enough to make the Super Bo

The kind of thread whose lack of a poll is perplexing...

Re: NFC team you’d like to face when we get to the Super Bowl?

I agree but Panthers are way to high on your list Kon lol. We know that team.

1. Seahawks
2. Packers
3. 49ers
4. Saints
5. Eagles
6. Panthers

Agreed, the Panthers playing outdoors in February in New York. They don't play well outdoors period, then add the cold and possibly snow?

Re: NFC team you’d like to face when we get to the Super Bowl?

I don't care who the Pats play in the Super Bowl as I would be thrilled if they made it. The team I would least like to play against is the Niners, since I lived in the Bay Area for 20 years and my sons are big niner fans. Would be a tense time in my household.

Re: NFC team you’d like to face when we get to the Super Bowl?

It's not my place pal but to offer advice as a regular member.

What would Belichick think of such a thread?

Who cares? This is a fan forum. When you prove that nerds on a discussion board can impact what happens on the field then I'll agree with you.

Otherwise the only thing obnoxious here is fans raining on other fan's parades with trite and overused 'one game at a time' memes that have no actual application.

Re: NFC team you’d least want to face if we are fortunate enough to make the Super Bo

I've never understood the 'one game at a time' mentality as a fan posting on a forum with other fans. None of us have anything whatsoever to do with the outcome of Pats games (besides making Gillette shake during home games). A thread like this is just like an offseason or bye week thread; we have until 8:15 on the 11th until the next game and we can't even talk about our next opponent because we don't know, what's the harm in sizing up the NFC?

Anyway, my list starts with Seattle, then a big dropoff to a pick-em between SF, Carolina, NO and GB. They all have marginal flaws but certain strengths that would worry me. The Eagles come last, I just don't buy into their defense enough to be worried and the other teams are just better, imo.

But Seattle comes first, I think they're the best team in the NFL and the one NFC team that I'd give a decided advantage to vs. NE, the rest I think would be a tossup but Seattle scares me, a lot.

Re: NFC team you’d least want to face if we are fortunate enough to make the Super Bo

1. '07 Giants
2. '11 Giants
3. Carolina
4. New Orleans
5. Philadelphia
6. Green Bay
7. San Fran
8. Seattle

But I don't care, honestly, as evidenced by my first two teams. If we can just get there, we have a shot.

Re: NFC team you’d least want to face if we are fortunate enough to make the Super Bo

I don't understand the Packers being so high on lists. The Packers are not a good team. Rodgers is excellent, but he's not completely healthy. He refused to scramble in that game yesterday because he's not completely confident in that collarbone---I don't blame him, but that takes away an element of his game that makes him what he is.

They have a tremendous young running back and some good receivers. Their o-line is average, with the strength in their guards and average tackle play. Their defense? It's absolutely terrible. Without Matthews they have not one difference maker. Their defense has been bad ever since Charles Woodson stopped being the most versatile DB in the league. They're going to lose to the Niners and be out. They strike absolutely no fear in me. I'd love to play an 8-7-1 team in the Superbowl.

Not to get ahead of us
And yet, that's exactly what you're doing.
