Muhammed Wilkerson guarantees win against Patriots

He certainly didn't against the Bears.

I should have been more specific. Not neutralizes his production, but neutralizes his impact for the Bengals. AJ Green can have a 9 catch, 162 yard, 2 TD day and Dalton threw two picks and only gets 120 yards of passing to his other receivers. Green had an elite game and the Bengals could only score 21 points.

Someone had to pick up the leadership role from Bart Scott.

The Jets- the gift that keeps on giving.

Thanks, moron. I was actually starting to worry about this game due to the Vereen/DA injuries. Now I feel a little better

We really don't have to worry about motivation when it comes to the games against the Jets. The only two people who hate the Jets more than we do are Brady and Belichick.

You know what? The Jets have talked so often that I just don't care anymore. It is just white noise at this point.

I think it is funny that any Jets player would talk crap after barely beating a bad Bucs team, but that is the way Rex Ryan runs the team - at least until he is fired after the season.

Put like that, I completely agree.

Especially considering HOW they won that game.

Rookie QBs back to back weeks filled by 10 days to prepare for Josh Freeman??? Yes please.

Even better - - their rookie QB has only 3 days to prepare for the Patriots!

That kid is really under the gun.

Not for nothin, but the scumbag Wilkerson may be right. There is a chance they can beat our Pats. With Vereen, Sudfeld and possibly Amendola out, our offense is now even with theirs. Their defense is probably better than ours. I still think we eke out a win, it's our home opener for Christ's sake. But I'm not as confident as I was when the Pats were up 17-7 and the Jets were losing 14-5, and before all the injuries. When the Jets won, that gave them confidence. And a confident healthy team vs a wounded team, anything can happen.

Wrong.

Our OL is superior to theirs (with Mangold out).

Our RB's are FAR superior to theirs (even without Vereen).

Our QB is Faaaaaar superior to the rookie who has only 3 days to prepare for a game.

The Jets are not "healthy". Their best WR Kerley is out with a concussion and Mangold is out.

Do the Pats have roster injury "challenges" right now? You bet. There are 30 teams in the NFL that could beat them with Amendola, Dobson, Sudfeld, Gronkowski and Vereen out injured right now.

Then there are the Jets.

this is how a jets fan talks

the game is by no means a given.......smith can give the pats problems, and the way mayo covered (or not) chandler, winslow jr. could be in for a big day

I still like the pats because the jets can't run the ball to save their lives, but this game is not going to be easy....there's much in flux with the pats right now

Until Brady has a full complement of pass catchers (and these rookies know what they're doing), I fully expect every game to be like the Buffalo game, and it won't be any different Thursday night. It took OT to beat the NYJ at home last season and that was with Sanchez and Brady with a full arsenal at his disposal. These first games vs the NYJ under Ryan are usually pretty close games. Pats fans who think it will be any different Thursday are drinking WAY too much Kool Aid.

I'm sure the irony of your post went right over your head.

Geno Smith is a rookie QB.

He will be playing his first real NFL game on the road.

He will be playing that game on national TV.

He will be playing that game with 3 days preparation. (Think about that for a moment).

The Jets have NO running game (outside of their QB) and their #1 WR is out with a concussion.

"and the way mayo covered (or not) chandler...." WHAT?
Chandler had 4 rec for 38 yds - - woooaahhh!!!! Stop the presses!!! He had ALMOST as good a day as Kenbrell Thompkins!!!!

Those are facts. Do with them whatever you want.

Will it be a close game? Probably. The Pats are playing with a decimated WR and TE corps. But the Jets are chopped liver, so the Pats are lucky with the timing and will probably squeak by a crap team with two hands tied behind their back.

AJ Green is the only overly impressive piece of the Cincy offense. I have to think we will manage pretty well against them defensively. Their defense against our O worries me though.

Atlanta, however. That one might be ugly. Everyone run to your Chandler Jones totem poles and pray for Julius Peppers 2.0.

I see that Atlanta has emerged victorious in the "perennial overrated team" contest.

While I agree they're not some unstoppable juggernaut, no doubt they're going to be the first real test for this defense. Their offense is as complete and well rounded as it gets these days, and we're playing in Atlanta. I'm less worried about it though, and more excited at the prospect. It's the kind of game that can set the tone for the defense for the rest of the season.

Hey Logan did you leave this press clipping in my locker?

Nope Nate but I received the same one.

Hmmm.....who do you think it could have been?

The world may never know.

I hope they don't fire Ryan. That would mean a lot less entertainment.

EJ Manuel was out for most of preseason, and he's a rookie......he did OK

you do understand that the bucs were #1 against the run last year? but I am not concerned about the jets running game.....geno smith found targets in a secondary that is better than the pats....and he will have time to throw

you want to treat this game as a gimme? yes.....you do sound exactly like a jets fan

BTW, the jets defense is much better than the bills

Now this I can agree with. Should be a good test for our secondary.

"EJ Manuel was out for most of preseason, and he's a rookie......he did OK"

-At home.
-With more than 3 days to prepare.
- 150 yards passing? That won't get it done against the Patriots.

I never said this was a gimme. I love the Pats chances in this, however. They have two hands tied behind their back, but are incredibly lucky that they have the Jets to play. The Jets ARE chopped liver. They may be the only team (especially with a rookie QB on 3 days preparation for a road game) they may beat with two hands tied behind their back. And I used the word "may".

Unlike Muhammad Wilkerson.

I'm just not optimistic about facing a team with three great receiving options and a good, well-rounded RB in their stadium, particularly in comparison to the opponents we face before them.

I don't think their defense is anything special, but the post was more geared toward how our defense would do against the other team's offense. They're easily the most potent offense we'll face next to Denver, assuming all their key players are present for that one.

you do realize that russell wilson was a nobody until he played the pats

'the jets are chopped liver' .... their defense certainly isn't
