Kyle Love released

Uh-oh, one off hand comment said in jest and nearly 2 pages of bickering follows what have I done?! :p

Seymour left in the first place because the choice was him or Wilfork right? You ALWAYS take the elite NT in that scenario when you play in a 3-4 as the Patriots did at the time, not to mention Wilfork is the younger of the 2.

btw, if Seymour really hated the Pats, why did he talk them up to Warren & Kelly?

This seems very thin to me.

DE: Jones, Ninkovich, Francis, Bequette, Buchanan
DT: Wilfork, Armstead, Kelly, Cunningham, Forsten

I know that there are more UDFA's, but Francis, Buchanan and Forsten are enough for me.

So much for the great cheap DT depth we had not that long ago -- Deaderick, Love, Weston, Pryor ...

The strange thing is that it already seemed a bit thin to me heading into the draft, but the man who's opinion counts did not seem to feel the same.

I'd have to imagine that we'll surely be adding some additional competition in the next couple of months though.

I'm not sure what the hubbub is.

If the Patriots are releasing Love, and Deadrick, its probably because all of those guys are better than Love and Deadrick. This should be a good thing.

I think we'd all be happy to see Seymour come back here, but I'd have to think that the odds are slim for various reasons.

As I said in my initial response to your comment, it's a shame because he may be able to still offer what we need.

The man likes to be paid though...and who can blame him? ;)

If what you're saying is true, Synovia, then that is obviously a good thing.

I think that some of us are a bit leery as to how that determination could have been made already though.

The other option is that one/both of Deaderick and Love had issues that we may not be privy to that Belichick felt was not a good fit here anymore.

It seems that the early indications are that it was the latter of the 2 options. Masslive is also reporting the same thing due to the diabetes diagnosis:

Maybe ...BB decided he wanted more pentrating players than 1 dimensional run stoppers which are a dime a dozen......

Agree with this.

He's already won three. He doesn't need another ring. He needs further financial security for his family.

"There's 31 other teams..." makes it pretty clear.

As for Love, that's too bad. Best of luck to him in the future. Have to think that the team didn't know of the potential severity of his condition, or else I don't think they would have cut Deaderick. DT seems pretty thin right now.

Yeah, he needs to feed his family.

Anything is always possible, Clare. I agree.

I don't think the odds are too good for various reasons though.

I'm sure that I'm recollecting old memories of when he was a stud for the Pats.

A little bit of me wants him back.

I'm a fan.

You can never have enough depth on the DL. Particularly for a team with a coach that prefers to build his defenses from the DL out.

Yeah, he needs to feed his family.

Sorry, but I never begrudge a person for trying to collect as much lifetime earnings as he possibly can for his family. Especially a guy that was a part of three championship teams for the Patriots.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Real surprising move here by the Pats. They are now very thin upfront behind Vince. Why would they release Deaderick if they were aware of Love's situation? What do they have to lose by keeping either Love or Deaderick around? At least keep them til camp and make the decision then. Makes little sense to cut bait now.

Interesting how they cut a guy because of diabetes, yet fall in love with the a guy who has had a heart attack.

No longer having players who werent very good isn't really a cause for concern.

Nothing to be sorry about. Munee is what makes the world go round...:D

THAT is a good gig, if you can do it.

Diabetes can be very difficult to manage, particularly if you are a professional athlete.

Most newly diagnosed Diabetics (even type 2) have Bloodsugar numbers which are out of control (200-300+) and this must be addressed immediately with insulin, otherwise they can damage your internal organs in a short period of time.

The problem with administering insulin is that it is difficult to tell how your body will react to each dosage, it takes time to determine what is the perfect amount which must be administered throughout the day and before meals, also, when you have administered insulin and you become physically active, the insulin gets absorbed into the fat tissue at a faster rate, meaning that even if you administer the normal dose, your blood-sugar may drop precipitously if you are also conducting varying levels of activity.

High bloodsugar can cause lethargy, impaired vision, peripheral numbness, constant urination and constant thirst.

While more dangerous low Bloodsugar can cause confusion, severe lethargy (to the point of passing out), sudden fatigue, and potentially death (with an insulin overdose).

Though it is 'just Type 2 Diabetes' the patriots must have concluded that he wasn't worth the extra hassle. its too bad. Kyle Love should concentrate on getting healthy so he can get rid of his diabetes, health is the most important thing in life and diabetes at such a young age can cause huge problems down the road if it is not properly managed.

He played just 3 of 72 snaps in the AFCCG due to a knee injury in the opening series, so maybe the knee injury had something to do with it too.

There's probably never been a more appropriate (but at the same time, inappropriate) time for this image...

With the twin releases of Love & Deaderick, that essentially releases one of the two flippy-floppy DT starters in the Patriots 4-3 defense.

Myron Pryor is still available. At one point, before a bunch of injuries, he and Love were no-neck and no-neck for the spot next to Wilfork. At least someone potentially able to fill the role - not certain of the impact of his injuries.

On the other hand, this sure improves the chances for some of those UDFA's - Forston, Grissom, and Cherington.

I'm not buying the diabtetes as a reason for his release. That seems more like media hyperbole trying to paint BB as the cold, heartless SOB they want him to be.

Still, very strange cuts this week. What if we suffer injuries to Wilfork and/or Kelly during the early stages of training camp? Something else is going on here....These guys either did something really bad or we're about to sign some upgrades.

The Seymour storyline is interesting. Yes there was some bad blood when we dealt him away but I disagree that it was so severe that it would still persist. At the end of the day, if we offer him more or even the same amount of money that he'd land elsewhere, I think he'd come back and be thrilled to have the opportunity to end his career the same way it started. As a Champion New England Patriot.
