Jackson is as soft as Charmin

I disagree. He played through injuries at UF. He took a beating this past season with that stupid freaking spread offense too. Caldwell (til he got hurt) was the deep threat and Jackson was the one who caught bubble screens and hitchs with LBs crashing on him.

:trolls: ....

Chad Jackson probably has the best hands of any WR in this draft. I KNOW for a fact he has better hands than Sinorice Moss because Jackson blew him away at the hands competition.

One scout, GMjr recorded Jackson as catching 96% of ALL passes thrown at him in GMjr graded games. That is sick!

Jackson also had 88 receptions and averaged over 10 ypc in a short ball control florida offense last year.

This guy can just about do it all and his measurables are off the chart. Heard of his 4.32 speed??

The Pats just may have gotten the best WR of the 2006 draft in the second round. Now that sir is VALUE!

Doesn't matter, you're trading for players not generic picks.
I know, I love the trade and the pick. It's always fun to see how the value chart grades it though.

Closing Time is a Steelers fan. If he was praising our draft we should be worried. It has been a surprising non-typical draft for the Pats, but it looks like we got value and when we get another LB or two in this LB-rich draft, our holes will be filled.

All you offense fans enjoy it...you won't see this kind of draft again in NE.

It came straight out of Michael Irvin's mouth.''Tom Brady is the best quarterback in the league''.I guest he has put down that crack pipe after all.
The only reason he thinks so is that he led the league in passing yards. Michael isn't perceptive enough to look beyond the stats, so until last year Peyton Manning (2-9 or something in playoff games) had to be better than Brady.

David Gibbons,Gemmins, Giddens, what was that guy's name, anyway?:D

I love this draft so far. I wanted Lawson in the first round and I was wishing all morning he would drop to us and when he did and we passed I was shocked, that said our offense is literally set up for years. Get Branch locked in long term now, then we can focus on getting our LBs younger.

We've drafted a RB and traded up in the 2nd to take a WR thusfar?

Color me SHOCKED!

We traded up, because the left over WR are not as great, and defensive wise, all the good picks where gone.

I didn't realize Jackson was nearly 6'1"...wow. I thought he was another branch clone. I watched Jackson on ESPN in the hand competition. He was won it and was by far the most impressive.

I feel vindicated to a degree given all the smack I had to endure for

1.) Even suggesting that the Pats had a need at WR and
2.) Recommending Jackson as a possible solution in the draft

That being said I've got to give credit to Beoli for obviously staying true to their draft grades and holding off on taking Jackson - clearly they didn't feel he was #21 material though just as clearly they liked him

They showed Patriots guts to stick to their charts taking the risk he'd be gone but then moving up when they could

(Frankly, I'm a bit surprised they didn't trade back in the draft to grab Maroney or Williams (or Jackson) later in the first and then trade up in the Second to grab Jackson - but I'm nitpicking I guess)

wow, almost everyone was high on jackson right away
just thought it would be funny to see what everyone had to say right after the pick

That is pretty funny. I've got no problem with what I said. I wonder if I'll be crucified again this off season for *gasp* suggesting that the Patriots have a need at WR again.

On a related subject, do an archive check about a draft up and comer named Zack DeOssi and see who was recommending him as a potential Patriot way back when ;)

This has to be an absolute nightmare!

He may or may not represent value here. But damn, Who is running the war room, anyway? Millen? A situational runner and a reciever high? Would have preferred NO picks to those picks. Where's the Maalox!?

I stand by my initial reaction! You dont pick receivers high!

I like BOR's reaction at the combine last year, when he said, "Chad Jackson should have stayed in school another year."

Kiper has a us picking Ton Gonzales at #28. I really like this kid. He has Patriots type player written all over him.

But, many have him ranked in the second round right now, so we shall see as we get closer to draft day.

Wow - so I just misread this compleatly. I didn't think that this thread was for the draft ... I read it as Chad Johnson.

I was going to say... wow... okay!

Right now, he's not even ranked top 50. Again, Depends on Pats value board, etc. (I cant see them seeing value in him at #28), but as a rule you dont pick a WR before the 3rd, and that is only if a 2nd round value WR slides to us in 3. Day one WR's are too high a risk on the risk/ reward ratio. And they are very high reward on the risk reward ratio on day 2. So guess where I wanna pick one?

Ahh, the essence of my philosophy. High reward for the risk taken at the pick.

i stand by my reaction aswell. chad is the man
