I have to admit, I was surprised that this was your take on Vereen.
Shocking, isn't it? I assume you're joking.

The team is going to miss danny woodhead a lot - belichick completly blew it on DW.
As evidenced by what exactly? A couple of receptions? What is it about this guy that has everyone convinced of his greatness? He's produced less than JR Redmond his first two years.
I think he can be an effective pass catcher in this offense, still not completely sold on his effectiveness as a runner.
You make it sound like they just lost 2005 version of Kevin Faulk.
Woody was a nice player and they will miss him in the dump-offs/screen aspect of the passing game but to state that they will miss him A LOT is a bit much. Rushing ave down 2 straight years. Longest rush 19yds.. Longest pass reception 25 yds (40 catches). Hes solid, but not an explosive player.

No he hasn't, this is what I'm talking about. He's had one game in which he played very well and one catch in another inwhich he ran 80+ yards untouched in a straight line on a blown coverage. Nothing else all that special.
I'm not sure if they will miss him as much as the previous poster alluded to, but they will miss him a good bit. The guy was big in some huge games for us in his time here. I thought he would have been in the conversation amongst fans at the very least for Super Bowl MVP had we won the game. He came out and did his job and was very effective once he shook off the concussion he suffered against the LOLphins in Week 17 of 2010.
As for Vereen, he's shown flashes here and there. But I don't think he's shown nearly enough to call him "Woodhead on HGH". I'd love for him to prove me wrong but, at this point, that's where we're sitting.

We are definitely in agreement there. I tend to think that Bolden is extremely overrated by many here, and the selection of him to the 53 man roster last season may have been nothing more than a need for a bigger/bruiser RB.
If Jones is able to show something during his workout, then I'm all for adding more competition.
If Felix signs here, I will be highly pissed-off if the contract is more expensive than the one Woody signed in SD.

I guess a little competition won't hurt anything. I just hope we don't spend 5 spots on RB, a proven position on this team, while so many ?'s at DB/WR
I do not see why people would be angry if the Patriots decided that Felix Jones was worth more than Woodhead.
You wouldn't be angry if Felix freaking Jones' cap hit was more than 2.25 million dollars next season?
Not only are we talking about the position of RB which is generally a lower paying position, we're talking about a RB who would potentially be no higher than our RB3 or RB4.

He could be a good Woodhead replacement. Probably a significant upgrade. Not durable enough to be a lead back, but has some very good skills to be a third down/change of pace back. He is quick and can catch the ball.
