re: Wes Welker: "It's nice to stick it in Bill's face every once in a while"

He's right to cause a distraction? He's right to show up the coach?

It was a stupid, stupid thing to say. Its guaranteed to be on ESPN and BB is going to be questioned on it. The fact that you are so overjoyed about it is baffling to me. You want BB to lose his locker room?

It took me a while to understand your line of thinking…but after much googling I have found the BSR are the Russian initials for "Tom Jackson."
Now I understand. They hate their coach.

re: Wes Welker: "It's nice to stick it in Bill's face every once in a while"

They CAN talk extension. However, it can only be signed on the day after the last REGULAR season game. Peviously, I believe that teams had to wait until the end of the Play-offs to sign players previously under the Franchise tag to an extension.

This is according to the CBA, Article 10, Section 2 (k).

As a minor point, I don't think that was a change from the previous CBA (although TBH I don't feel like looking it up ;) ).

re: Wes Welker: "It's nice to stick it in Bill's face every once in a while"

Without welker, this team would be 2-3 or maybe 1-4.. Local writers can say Hernandez is what runs this offense, but he can't stay healthy.. Its very obvious, its time to admit the Pats should have signed Welker this past offseason.

re: Wes Welker: "It's nice to stick it in Bill's face every once in a while"

This will not cause a stir with the team. Welker keeps producing, Welker will play and Tom will throw it to him.
Welker hasn't stopped producing since day 1.

re: Wes Welker: "It's nice to stick it in Bill's face every once in a while"

You have to wonder if Wes makes that SB catch,is he signed by now?

re: Wes Welker: "It's nice to stick it in Bill's face every once in a while"

I dont like it. Stupid thing to do

re: Wes Welker: "It's nice to stick it in Bill's face every once in a while"

Bedard, on twitter, is reporting Welker winked.. We know Welker is a trooper and has in the past made jokes at press conferences..

Welker was clearly joking if you watch the video posted.

re: Wes Welker: "It's nice to stick it in Bill's face every once in a while"

Why do people keep saying this? Edelman wasn't playing the slot. Hernandez was playing more of Wes' position than Julian.

The loss of Edelman has gotten Deion Branch more snaps not Welker.

I don't know why this board is so determined to hate on Julian Edelman.

It's not a question of hate. It's a recognition that Julie would not be starting on any team in the NFL other than ours because our head coach has a soft spot for "Rudy" type players. Our offense looks like crap when they try to involve him. Period. We are a juggernaut when WW is doing his thing. He is the perfect WR for Tom Brady. Watching Edelman is painful. Why do mouth breathers on this board want to make excuses for this guy?

re: Wes Welker: "It's nice to stick it in Bill's face every once in a while"

My take on it is this is not what it seems. This was nothing more than un-serious, talk show, joking blather. Just WW poking fun at what the media engages in.

Yet if it was WW speaking out on his contract frustration, that doesn't fly. Behind the scenes WW and his agent can make all the waves they want. Behind the scenes BB can stonewall WW and his agent all he wants. To the press the long standing Patriot way for the coach, his staff and his players is "we tried hard. We made a few more plays than they did (or they made a few more plays than us)". The Patriot way is NOT to air your grievances to the press during the season. That Patriot way has been part of a very successful formula for 10 years (and made it easy to root for the Patriots over other loud mouth teams [think Jets]). If WW is taking his grievances public? Unfortunately it is even more likely we are seeing the end of WW with the Patriots (especially with a team as young as it probably has been in the BB era).

re: Wes Welker: "It's nice to stick it in Bill's face every once in a while"

That's just not true. Edelman was taking snaps away from Welker in the 2 TE sets.

It's like you read the part where I said Hernandez was playing more of Welker's slot role and completely ignored it.

Welker has primarily been a slot receiver not a flanker/split-end, which is where they had Julian playing and now have Deion.

re: Wes Welker: "It's nice to stick it in Bill's face every once in a while"

Watching Edelman is painful.

He played better than Deion has played in replacement for Edelman.

Stop with the hyperbole, the guy was on a pace for 40-60 catches. That's hardly painful.

Why do mouth breathers on this board want to make excuses for this guy?

Probably because the 'mouth breathers' think that a HoF coach knows a touch more about evaluating players than a patsfan.com poster.

re: Wes Welker: "It's nice to stick it in Bill's face every once in a while"

No, because this team is not that reactionary.

They set a value on a player and try to hit a deal that meets or comes in under that value.

Belichick is the epitome of a 'bottom line' kind of guy. He's nowhere near as emotional as this board gets after a loss like this. We lost, right?

If Edelman's on the field taking Welker's snaps while Welker's on the sidelines, Edelman's taking Welker's role.

Also, in the first 2 games, Edelman was running more Welker routes and Welker was being used much more in decoy routes.

Edelman sucks as a WR, Wes Welker is borderline HOF material.
Who can argue this point?
And ps, BB is not infallible. He's got a gigantic ego and sometimes makes really stupid decisions, like going for it on 4th and 5 today.

Reminds me of some of the things Belichick used to say about Parcells when they were with the Giants.

These guys are competitive and Belichick certainly sticks it to them. Remember that film where Edelman runs back the kick and Belichick starts calling Wes "Wally Pipp"?

BB would like nothing better than for Wes to "stick it to him" to the tune of a super bowl and new contract.

re: Wes Welker: "It's nice to stick it in Bill's face every once in a while"

Totally stupid comment.
WTF Welker?
