Remember all the fans that wanted to keep Cassel and let Brady go?

Hold on a minute now! Did people actually say that?!?!?

Yeah, well there were people in the game thread today calling on BB to just cut Woodhead because he "sucks". There will be no shortage of moronic and dumb things posted on this site. It's actually kinda funny to actually read some of them.

Well..there are a lot of posters STILL on this board who would want BB and brady replaced after a loss or after some failed 3rd downs. So its not a surprise some people thought that way.

Had the Pats lost to Buffalo this site would have been full with people calling for BB's head and saying Brady's done. It is just a matter of time, when this WILL happen. Log on after a loss for a glimpse.

I'm curious why an alleged fan of the New England Patriots would go by the screen name of Patriot Spy.

:confused2:

Hello?.....................................Hello?..

Is this thread still alive?

I didn't think so..

:bricks:

Who said that? I'd want a 1 leg and 1 arm Tom over a healthy Cassel. Anyone who said that was and still is on crack.

Not real or actual fans..but the trolls...so no...no "real" pats fans said that

No, it was a real debate. There were long-time posters here, definite Pats fans, who favored trading Brady and signing Cassel long term. They were the distinct minority, but there were some.

Seriously, there really needs to be a thread approval process. :bricks:

No offense OP....:D

Yes, some fans wanted to trade Brady, and no, it wasn't all just trolls. Some were Patriots fans who had been posting since at least as far back as 2004. Some fans can be found to support pretty much any idea, though.

Most fans mocked the hell out of the "Trade Brady" crowd.

Take the same situation and circumstances then move it to this year with this board now? While it would still remain a minority, I have my doubts that "distinct" would continue to be applicable.
Let TB have two bad games in a row?? I am not sure minority would continue to be applicable. Just is what it is.....

Look...we have a fan named Steve From Fall River who thinks Belichick should have been canned 8 years ago...you ever read the In Game Thread here?....this is an emotional fanbase....and one that is wracked with ADHD

In Cassel's defense he's had to deal with multiple offensive systems and coordinators, and has also played behind a garbage O-line and has receivers that seem to think their job is to juggle the football. If you wanted to completely ruin a potential QB then that's pretty much the perfect recipe.

I agree that Cassel ended up in less than an optimum situation. If he went to a better situation? Who knows, maybe he would have flourished?

I certainly am sorry to see him get hurt (cheering for a guy when he is hurt??? Ouch). He seemed a stand up guy who made good on his opportunity when TB went down. He also ended up giving us Patriot fans hope for a season that seemed bleak after TB went down. But I suspect the reality is Cassel's value was inflated because he stepped into the starting QB role of a very well run organization. I suspect if it wasn't an organization like the Patriots (or a few others), Cassel would not have had earned the opportunity to step into the starting role somewhere else. Obviously this is all speculation (hence why i said "I suspect" so much) but that is my sense of Cassel.

Bottom line, Cassel could have easily ended up just another backup QB that never got his time in the sun (or payday that goes with it). Yet he did, it also earned him a very nice payday, and in the context of it all that makes Cassel a very very fortunate individual.

Cassel hasn't been great, but to go down and your own fans cheer is disgusting!

If that was to happen here, I would be shocked!

I wasn't a member of this forum at the time but i used to lurk around here. I do recall some of that talk.

Pretty hilarious now that Cassel is most likely done.

The farthest I went was saying that I wouldn't be surprised if Belichick traded Brady.

I'd be honestly surprised if the thought didn't at least enter his head somewhere in that 11-5 run.

Cassel hasn't got the pieces any more. It's nothing to do with his talent. Half the leagues QBs, if not more, could go there and achieve nothing.

Stupid thread.....

The only fans who wanted Cassell and to trade Brady were fans from the other 31 teams :bricks:
No

There were fans here that wanted to trade Brady for a couple of 1st and keep Cassel.

Jamal Charles
Dwayne Bowe
Jonathan Baldwin
Tony Moeke
Devin McCulster
Steve Breaston

The Chiefs roster is loaded with talent except at QB. Cassel stinks.

Anyone who thought that was a moron - harsh, I know, but truth hurts.
