New Gostkowski Nickname

Ok, courtesy of that 50 yarder, his new nickname shoud be "Cannon"!

But the fans (almost) always called him "Automatic" Adam. I went to a Pats/Jets game a couple of years ago ('03) and the Jets fans were calling him that.

I like "Ghost" because he's growing up in the shadow of the only other kicker (probably) to make it to the HOF. Those are big shoes to fill but I think he'll become a Pats fixture in the upcoming years!

For Gost, I dont see any reason to give up on Ghost. We gave him that name back in TC.

Funny, if Ghost had missed his 51 yarder, this thread wouldn't be about deciding on his nickname, it would be a rage about how dumb Pioli and Belichick were to let Vinatieri walk. Apparently, that potential controversy is entirely forgotten, now.

Whatever we call him, as inane and media-driven as it is, I really want him to win the subplot "kicker battle" next week.

I really, really want Adam to miss one from 50 that would put the Colts on top, and then for Ghost to hit one from about the same distance that puts the Pats up the game-winning margin.

Huh. Kinda like the SD game, if you think about it... only they missed theirs after we hit ours.

Cool. Extra-cool, in fact... we get to start counting "game winning field goals in the post season" all over again...
