Key to Beating the Chargers?

But then your slow LB's have to cover Gates.
Gates can take over a game completely if you dont pay him attention.

No if Rivers is looking up at the lights. Rivers has to get the ball to Gates. A rookie (first season) QB is a dream for the Pats defense.

Brees isn't on SD anymore:D

Right you are!! I realized that, and made the change. As I've said before, I don't see many games, being over-seas. By the grace of Heaven for some reason the cable network I'm on here in northeast Europe recently started broadcasting NFL games !!! :D

But only a few each week of the reg season, so saw the Pats only once. Seems like they're going to show *all* the playoff games, so that's great!!

But, hey, Brees *was* doing all right as a Bolt last year!!

Im sure, thats why he made the probowl. Thats why hes done something no Charger QB has done in 20+ years and thats sweep the Broncos.

Only thing im worried about is the 1st quarter. He tends to get happyfeet. But it usually doesnt hurt us too bad. During the 4th quarter hes lights out though.
Best 4th quarter QB in the NFL right now.

Brees plays for New Orleans. We must make Rivers beat us. We have the coaching advantage. Marty is an idiot.

Pretty smart "idiot" to go 14-2 this year (!!)

Don't sell the Bolts short; they've got talent.

//

that does not change the fact that bb is smarter and marty is an idiot.

I just want to point out how much Marty's role has been minimized on this current Chargers team. Cam Cameron designs the offensive gameplan and calls the plays. Marty has said many time this year he doesn't call the plays. He has input but he's also told Cam, "you don't have to listen to me, you call the plays you want to call." This is the main reason so many observers have said Martyball is dead. It's also one reason Cam is one of the top head-coaching prospects this offseason.

Marty's a very good coach when it comes to getting a team focused and prepared emotionally. But he's not our Bill Belichik. Our strategists are Cam on offense and Wade Phillips on defense. Marty doesn't even wear a headset 90% of the time on the sidelines.

If our gameplan sucks next week Marty will get the blame, but this time it won't be his gameplan that's at fault. But I doubt our gameplan will suck. Teams have been able to hold our offense in check for stretches and have been able to move on our defense in stretches, but we always find ways to adjust and make plays--especially in the second half.

Thats why were 9-7 and missed the playoffs right? LOL
We returned 20 of our 21 starters, its the same team this year as it was last year.

Brees is a choker in big games, the evidence is how he and the Saints finished the season this year.

Now heres the issue for you guys.

1. LT is extremely fast, your linebackers...not so much. If we line LT up in the slot he can recieve for over 100. Especially with the threat of Michael Turner in the backfield.

2. Gates matches up well with your slow linebackers too, and it doenst help that Harrison wont play, or if he does he wont be at 100.

3. Rivers doesnt get sacked very often, the pass protection has been A+ this year.

4. Chargers set the record for sacks in a single season this year, we have the best pass rush in the game.

5. Its in San Diego, itll be loud and crazy and make it even harder for your mismatched offense.

we've versed extremely fast RBs..its not a foot race..its the trenches..if our DL gets it done..our LBs dont have to worry about chasing LT all over.

stopping a person isnt always physical matchups..what scheme we put together and disguising what we want to do aswell as pressuring Rivers can definatley stop Gates

Rivers has been sacked more than Brady i believe..so if u say your pass procection has been great because the sack #s..then we can say the same

we've played in tough places every year..its nothing new

your being very biased. your saying "our pass rush is best in league" .. well our run d is 1 of the best in the league so whats to say we cant stop LT if u can stop Brady?

we'll see how it goes..all i know is that SD fans are very stupid and ignorant from what i hear on different boards..i havent personally encountered problesm but other people say SD has 1o f the worst fans :\

Thanks for taking me to school. Learn something new all the time!!

Appreciate it! Keep me straight if I step in it again.

Stuff the run ,contain LT and force Rivers to pass. I think Rivers will be the ultimate downfall of the Chargers. It's his first year and BB will confuse the heck out of him, just as we did to Big Ben in his first year.

Money in the bank. I've only seen Rivers a couple times this year, but he wasn't all that impressive.

Thats what im saying, our Oline has been magnificent, and LoNeal is obviously the beat at what he does. Once LT gets by the Dline its gonna be 10 yards easy, and even more.

Another problem for you, your gonna have to scheme against Cam Camerons unpredictable offense, no one has done it successfully this year.

Rivers doesnt throw picks though, Brady will take that gunslinger mentality to heart and chuck it down the field. Often risking much more then a sack. Rivers knows when to tuck it.

Because Gates will force you to back off the line, hes too quick for your big slow D. Ive said this before.

To round it off, its all about matchups, and the Chargers have a BIG advantage over you. Some teams just match up well against us, but you dont.

Well ive made some good points right? And I know weve been ignorant on othe boards, but weve been right havent we? Yep, my point exactly.

I have a ton of respect for the Pats and for Belichik, but so far you guys have had a lot of trouble with LT when we've faced you head-to-head. Granted, it's a small sample, but his last two games against you guys were huge.

Last year your defense was injured, so we'll call that one a wash, and 2002 was quite awhile ago, so again, I won't make too much of it. But I doubt you guys were doing a lot different schematically in either of those games. LT is just one of those guys...you have to shut him down 20-30 times in a game. If you do it wrong 3 or 4 times you could find yourself having given up an extra 70 or 80 yards rushing and a TD or two.

Also, our o-line is very solid now--better than last year's. our center Hardwick's a pro-bowler, and Dielman and McNiell, our LG and LT, are pro-bowl alternates. The left side of our o-line has been a "go-to" gap this year and often we have success there even when teams are stacking to stop the run. That's when schemes go out the window and it's all about 1 on 1 matchups.

Anyway, I think it will be a great game. Everyone's focused on your defense against our offense, but I think the matchup of our defense against your offense will actually be more important. I anticipate a low-scoring game...something in the 20-13 or 21-17 range. Your defense will limit our offense but won't dominate it, our defense will limit your offense but won't dominate it, and it will probably come down to turnovers and big special teams plays.

You are absolutley correct, and you are including Rivers in that as well.

I love the old Rivers is better than Bray because of the ProBowl selction. That one makes me laugh every time.

You were 14-2 for one reason and one reason alone. LT. You have a great team, just dont be a homer.

Slow down the run, protect Brady. If we can do those two things, let the chips fall where they may.

no u havent made big points..your basically saying its individual effort and how good a player is that will make the difference..

sorry but i dont see how you can make it seem like LT will be unstoppable just like that..did u watch the Chiefs game? Everyone was saying over 200 for LJ and what happened? LJ has been great all year till now.why? Gameplans..you dont know what a taem will do. Dont think BB will just say ..stop the run..hes going to create a lot of wrinkles to slow LT down.

and your saying Gates's speed will be tough for our LBs and therefore he will have a big game..well i've see speed not get it done plenty of times..depends how we play him.

im a huge LT fan..i know hes hard to stop but u make it sound like its impossible..well to remind you..Pittsburgh held him to 2.8 ypc..49ers help him to 3.4 ..Denver to 3.7 one game ..Ravens 3.8

so its possible to slow him down and keep him quiet

remember our run D was ranked 2nd when we had Wilfork in....our run D deserves respect

my main concern is Gates..and by gettign to Rivers that should create TOs and sacks .. mess with young Philip

your OL is magnificent? How was Colts OL every year we confused the hell out of Peyton? You cant take for granted what your team has done..because playoff football is completely differrent.

and if their coach wasn't an idiot they would have gone 15-1. you even point out why the team has overcome Marty: talent

so lemme get this straight, you guys think you can stop the bolts just by stopping Gates and LT, wow obviously you guys dont follow the NFL or ne other teams rather than yours

you think u put 40 points on Patriots with LT having 150 yards and Gates 150 yards with Merriman having 2-3 sacks?

..sweet

we averaged 30 points a game and most of those 30 point games Gates didnt even have a 100 yards or a TD

so it just proves my point that you guys dont know what ur talking about

guess you dont know anything abotu us..2nd least points allowed this year behind Ravens..

so wait..hold up..same Ravens that you ONLY scored 13 points on? So your magically going to put up 17 more points on the 2nd best team in points per game allowed than you would agaisnt the #1?

you put high points on teams like Titans, 49ers, Rams, Browns, Bengals and Denver..besides Denver..rest of the teams are ranked in top 10 WORST defenses..

We are 6th overall..should be higher but run D slacked end of year without Wilfork who you kids were drooling over on your boards as i lurked a few minutes ago
