Bedard shows Haynesworth looking more like a Redskin from Sunday's game

Bedard also credited him with a team-high 5.5 impact plays against the Phins. So let's not hate on him too much.

Exactly.

I have my doubts about him but the entire defense isn't anywhere near what it should be

It never is in September and it will be less so this year, and less even more so with Haynesworth given his missing pre-season games

This entire defense need to improve - and I'm confident they will as the season continues

If you'd take the homer glasses off and stop grasping for straws and crowning Haynesworth for "creating holding penalties" as if that is somehow indicative of his overall play. Any given day a zebra will drop a flag and call penalty for any reason, some warranted others phantom penalties.

If he had gashed the SD OL and made behind LOS negative plays that would've meant much more.

Fact is the dude has a reputation of being a lazy *****, and got called out after his snoozer effort against Chargers.

LOL

learning the playbook is unrealistic ?

Since when are we keeping statiscs on "creating holding penalties". LOL. I've heard of creating "negative plays" .
How far back does an offense move for a holding penalty?

Suppose what haynesworth has makes him better than average - considering what he is being paid and that he has the potential for great plays here and there I still think it was a very good signing. Perhaps he will never be great Al? I am not sure that is a problem at all.

On second thought, let's keep the players and start cutting some posters. We've got two wins and a long season ahead, but some of these posters have fallen into patterns I find disturbing.

I really didn't pay much attention to what Al was doing because we had been able to keep SD on the bottom of the scoreboard, but after reading Bedard's interesting summary of Al's play, it certainly brings back some memories of those infamous games as a Redskin.

What are you talking about not double teamed? he was double/tripple teamed on 10/23 plays.

I've been going through the game for a second time (very slowly BTW) and I noticed on his first drive (Miami's second drive), he was illegally chopped twice. Unless my definition is wrong, if you are engaged with one blocker and another goes low, it is a penalty. I believe he was double teamed both times and a blocker ended up taking out his legs. In fact, on the second one you can see one of the Miami OL complaining about a leg-whip after he went to the ground (although it looked like he did).

I'm not necessarily arguing in favor of the guy here, but am I wrong? Was it borderline? It looked pretty clear to me.

Now I'm arguing in favor of the guy - he's getting off the ball quicker than the O-line and is getting great penetration. So far no results..... I mean..... sacks. He will make his plays. Once Shaun Ellis (why isn't anyone criticizing him?) stops slacking off, maybe it will make it easier on the rest of the D-Line. :D

OFF TOPIC...it's late..I just got home from a Red Flop[s game...WHAT HAPPENED ABOUT THE BRADY HIT BELOW THE KNEE????

just looked on NFL.com and they have all ther info on fines and what not from the Philly/Falcons game....don't tell me this clown commissioner is going to turn a blind eye and deaf ear to THIS....WTH is going on here?????????

Haynesworth definitely had a tough game, but Bedard (who is great in general, BTW) giving him crap for not getting back up is a little absurd and shows someone trying way to hard to find comparisons to the Washington days (with the famous Vick play). He was knocked to the ground and Rivers was forced to scramble right out of the pocket while Haynesworth is in the middle of the field and has zero shot at influencing the play.

If you want to see a case of dogging it or being lazy, check out the play where Andre Carter barely even jogs after Rivers when he was in position/has the athleticism to actually impact the play some. Yet you don't see the reporters giving him a hard time.

I don't have a big problem with that one, either, guys just get tired and I accept no one is going to play balls to the walls every single play. But that's a far more damning play than Haynesworth getting up slowly on a play he isn't going to have any impact on, and Haynesworth is the one who is catching crap.

But seriously, how about this Ellis dude in comparison. Can somebody put something on the board that hes done this season and I think he costs us 4m this year right ? What is Albert making, 2m guaranteed ?

I agree Albert didnt do that much but not that many on the d-line either so they are not really helping eachother out either.

the pats have 6 sacks alredy the pats did not get 6 sacks untill week 4 last year and a big part of that is because wilfork and haynesworth are eating up more then half the Oline leveing the DE's and LB's one on one

Good post if its true, then we have a 200percent increase on the sacks which isnt bad at all. I dont like people beating up on him when for instance Ellis havent really come through either and he gets more money.

What matters, right now that is, is if Albert comes in works hard every day and tries to get better. We dont really know that since we are not at the practises.

This deserves its own post.

He drove Cleary into Rivers causing him to throw a weak ball to an open Gates which Sergio Brown picked off. You said one thing.

I believe fines are a Wednesday thing, and Schefter reported (SNF, perhaps?) that the league was looking at the hits on both Brady and Roethlisberger.

Judging by the title of the thread, either you didn't even read the article or you have an agenda. :bricks:

Fair point then. But do you think everyone is watching him and complaining as much as they do at Albert ?

That looked odd to me too... If I'm thinking of the same play, I THINK his thought process might have been to try to bait Rivers into taking a different angle, since Rivers was dropping pretty far back. Probably felt if he ran straight at him, Rivers would move to the side and have a lane. Not sure, I doubt it was laziness, though overall Carter had a minimal impact on the game from what I could see.
