I wouldn't really call Butler a suprise. He made strides last year. But this is definitely his make-or-break year, and I have a feeling he's going to get called upon quite a bit with how thin this secondary is looking.

If he's injured, you can't just cut him. I don't imagine it's more complicated than that.

Sorry, but objectively speaking, somebody who is questioning and doubting Cunningham (or this pass rush in general, which he was a part of) has a lot more to stand on than someone saying the opposite. It's certainly not "clueless".

I imagine the last minute nature of the move means the injury isnt real severe, but they found someone out there to replace him with.
I know people jacked him up this year, but the guy actually has made some progress. A year in the weight room, and he may turn out to be a graduate of the Dante School yet.
