First, I love the use of occam's razor ! ( First time I've seen that used on a message board ). But I have to slightly disagree. The razor tells me that Sanders was not a value with a cap number of $2.8 million so he was released.

Not that he "sucks". JMHO.

may be a little stretch there on my part :p but what I meant was that we will never know why BB decided to move away from him.

Just do it.

I'm not advocating one way or another, but does anyone see any interest in Josh Bullocks? Played in all 18 games last yr for the CHI Bears. Spent 4 yrs with the Saints, and last 2 with Chicago. Was cut today.

Not sure if he's any kind of player that we would look at or not?

I'm not sure if I'm buying into the D.Sharper talk, it seems to me that he'd have been signed already, but maybe he's waiting out his options.

Saw that on Bullocks Cousin. You are on to something. Was very decent in 2009.

Another possible annual Raiders pre-season trade with Al would be Tyvon Branch, UConn. 124 Tackles and 6 PDF in 2009. 104 tackles and 4 sacks in 2010. 6'0" 207lbs. Can be had. Good size. Good speed (at 4.31 faster than any Safety we have). Only 24. 2011 salary $555k
The Raiders have Huff (new contract 2011), Stevie Brown (new contract 2010) and Mitchell (1st??? "He ain't sitttin" rounder) with an experienced Matt Giordano as a backup.

Wasn't there talk this winter that Adrian Wilson was available from the Cardinals? He's getting on a bit (11th year in the league) but he's a solid, productive safety. He'd make us better instantly, the way Leonard makes the Jets so much better. Send Meriweather to AZ for Wilson and a 5th and I'd be pysched. They'd get a young 2 time Pro Bowl safety and we'd get a killer D. Bingo. And this from a one-time big Meriweather supporter. We've waited too long and maybe he needs a change, might be great for both teams. Besides, Meriweather is a FA after this year and will get $$ that we'd never pay him.

We don't play FS/SS. Wilson was my choice for the last two years. He is the Harrison type of guts and fire we are missing. Played all last season with a torn stomach muscle nobody knew about (now healed). Has a slight bicep tendon tear now. Expects to play. Hopes it heals up in a month or so while he plays. Upgrades our Defense day one. Smart, experienced. Team leader. Health is an issue.
I also have stated Dowling is Safety material

DWT - shhhhhhh, BBs probably working old man Davis as we speak to make something like this happen.

Branch is the Raider's starting SS. I haven't seen anything to indicate that he's available, as DWToys claims.

Hey steelers have not extended polamalu yet and this is his last year on contract. just saying ...

Well why don't you actually look these things up. I refuse to do your research you con everybody else into doing.
It's there.Look. I don't write this crap.
They want Mitchell and Huff to start. They just paid Huff to come back and Mitchell is Al's first rounder.Whether Mitchell is better than Branch or not is irrelevant.
They also have another young kid they like as well (look him up too).
DW Toys

P.S. Branch has been playing F.S. (look it up as well). Depends on the grouping.

You're the one who made the claim. It's up to you to substantiate it, genius.

Yep, you're reading my mail DW. FS/SS is just blabber; what we need is a crusher back there. It's the player not the position so much - see Fat Albert Haynesworth. He makes our D better, just like Wilson would, especially with 2 or 3 young safeties around him.

I wonder how far apart, exactly, Bill & Dashon Goldson really were.
If he had been signed, then the loss of Sanders would not have been so surprising.

Any chance that McGowan returns (again)?

No, there was absolutely zero talk about any possible Adrian Wilson trade, besides one time a couple of yrs ago when DW Toys brought up the idea via pure speculation.

Wilson is clearly a top 5 safety in the league, hands down. No doubt he would've made us better..much better. The problem is that much like his teammate (Larry Fitzgerald) people seem to forget that we are not entitled to every good player in the NFL. The ARZ Cardinals were clearly committed to both Wilson and Fitzgerald from day one, as they are their best offensive and defensive players without a doubt.

There's no way that ARZ would have let Wilson go, especially for your proposed trade of an additional 5th rounder!!! For Meriweather?? I think Meriweather is worth somewhere around a 3rd/4th rounder by himself, but you are greatly underappreciating the value of Adrian Wilson.

FWIW--he's hanging on for dear life with a torn biceps injury. Most early reports had him being out for a long, extended period of time, possibly even the entire yr. He's supposedly going to at least 'try' to battle and play through it, so we will see. He is certainly a great safety, and like you said--tough and smart.

I wondered the same thing, Captain.

I wouldn't mind McGowan for some depth, then again we haven't seen him since 2009.

Personally, I liked him a lot.

Bet they wish they had that one to do over again.

I am wondering the same thing, and have since day one. Then again, I'm wondering about the release of Sanders--especially this late in TC/right before the season. Seems very odd to me personally. Then again, we've all learned not to question Belichick too much, b/c he usually has a decent plan. My guess is that he's banking on signing a cut this week/next.

Thnx DW. I just wondered what others thought, as I admit that I do not know all that much about him.

FWIW--I agree with you and BBB on the great play of A.Wilson, but I just think he's one of those guys that ARZ would never let go. Couple that with the fact that he makes good money/would demand good money, and I think it's more of a dream scenario than actual reality.

I think 100% of us would be on board for any kind of Adrian Wilson talk. Besides maybe Reed, Polomalu, and E.Berry, I can't think of too many other safeties that I'd rather have. (although I'm sure I'm forgetting someone)

No kidding. Iggles got him on a 1 yr deal at $785k all in. It's not like he got big money somewhere else.

Either BB didn't have much use for him or they must really think the world of Sergio Brown.

Good point. I think Brown may be a good player here with increased reps, but was awfully surprised at the Page salary with PHI. Apparently he will be starting for them, as there is an injury that will take about a month to heal. Nate Allen maybe? I dunno. Nate somebody, can't remember right now.

BB must have known something about either his skillset or his attitude/work ethic, so we'll just have to trust that for now.

Bethea. Ryan Clark maybe. TJ Ward maybe. Eric Wedtle.
