Report: Jets drop out of running for Asomugha

NFL Network's Albert Breer reports the Jets have dropped out of the sweepstakes for free agent Nnamdi Asomugha.
Just as this news was reported on NFL Network, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News passed along word that there is "fist-bumping" going on at Cowboys headquarters. It indeed appears as if Asomugha is going to Dallas. Stay tuned.

After hearing this morning that the Cowboys were in it, I'd be shocked, SHOCKED if he wasn't a Cowboy. Jets were never seriously in it. No player is going to take that big of a paycut.

They didn't redo the contracts yet, they agreed to redo them if they got Nnamdi is what I understand. You don't have to be at or under the cap just yet.

What leaves the Jets with a hole at CB brings them the power to keep Edwards and maybe improve the offense.....

either way they will be a formidable team in the division and Sanchez will have more to work with...it wasnt like this was severely damaging to the Jets but more of a fantasy CB duo gone by.

To me for the Jets it would have been either an impenetrable secondary with Asomugha and a weak WR corps or a decent to strong WR corps and a weak CB opposite Revis.

Too bad this couldn't drag on into the weekend so more of the Jets' back up plans were signed. This could be a bad thing for the Pats if they are targetting someone the Jets might want. if they are going to spend all the money they were going to spend on Asomugha, they might overpay for several players.
