Ochocinco Tweets “PePe and Bill #EPIC.”

Re: Ochoc Tweets.

I haven't given up on these two, Tate showed some signs of promise while Price looked solid in his one appearance but we need somebody who we know can be a successful deep threat. I'm not saying we need Fitz, CJ, or someone from the draft...just somebody who could step in for a year or two while we develop Tate and Price.

I haven't quite given up on Tate, but I'm rapidly getting there. He'll get one more season, I think, but if he doesn't make leaps and bounds as a WR, he probably is (and should be) gone. As for Price, he's a total unknown at this point. Considering the offense that he came out of in college, it makes sense that he required more or less a redshirt year, and we'll start seeing what he has to offer next season.

That said, I think that assuming that either one of those guys will become a starter-caliber player is just as misguided as assuming that they'll bust. Maybe even worse, since what little evidence we have at our disposal isn't exactly favorable, at this point in time.

Re: Ochoc Tweets.

what we need is a pass rusher, not another WR

Re: Ochoc Tweets.

Rex Ryan just showed everyone how to beat the indecipherable Pats offense that has no deep threat. The only way to counter the scheme is with a legitimate deep threat to thin out the high-traffic coverage defense. And yes, that matters, because unless you're counting on the Jets to lose the division just against Miami and Buffalo, they'll keep attacking that weakness.

Re: Ochoc Tweets.

No thanks and sign Mankins long term first. How 'bout we go back to dominating the line of scrimmage, both, offensively and defensively. Invest our draft picks in O-line(preferably a big, ******* center and a mammoth DE/OLB type like we had with McGinest.

Holy crap, that's a great idea!!!

Let's Do It!

Re: Ochoc Tweets.

The jets flooded their backfield with defenders and were able to get pressure on Brady with a 4 man rush.

I don't think a deep threat would have had much of an impact Sunday as he would be double covered, he wouldn't help anyone else get open because of the amount of DB's and by the time a deep threat receiver is ready for the ball Brady would have already had to get rid of it due to the pressure the Jets were getting.
We don't need to get WRs we need a philosophical change.
We have the best QB in the NFL, maybe ever. We spend the regular season showing teams that the only way to beat us is to devote their entire game plan to defending the best weapon we have, and then we get to the post season and some good team creates a game plan that overloads against the passing game and forces our best player, the leagues best player to face a defense that is thinking about nothing other than overplaying what he wants to do, and is put at a disadvantage.

If you are facing a team with a horrible corner on one side, you don't throw at him every play because then he will have help every play. You turn and advantage and a mismatch into a disadvantage because you can't get that corner alone without help to exploit him. If you run your normal offense and go after him when he doesn't have help you eat him alive.
THAT concept, applied to our offense is what has happened to this team. We go to the well too often then when we need Brady to carry us against a good team the only thing on their mind is stopping him so we unwittingly make the job of the man who makes us better than everyone else harder than it has to be.
We need to get a running game that we can commit to, and a defense that we aren't afraid to commit to the running game with. THEN we turn Brady loose when the D has to account for the entire offense and he rips them to shreds.

A running threat from a Jonathon Stewart and/or Steven Jackson would be better. Big, fast ground runners that are hard to take down. A "just decent" deep threat would then be sufficient (somewhat better than Tate is enough). Ten yard passes isn't going to cut it against teams with very good secondaries.

Re: Ochoc Tweets.

While it would be unfair to single out WR as a reason for the loss, the fact is, having some deep speed at WR will be an offseason priority

Whether Ochocinco can play that role is another matter. Many if not most think he's lost his speed.

He'd have to accept a "show me" contract along the lines of Moss' in 2007 that allows Belichick to cut or trade him at any time - though it seems like BB and Ochocinco do have some degree of respect for each other

Chad has his work cut out for him this offseason to get himself into better game shape and rediscover his speed before this becomes a real possibility.

Why can't bill bring in both T.O and chad? Nobody wants them and i'm pretty sure they would take any offer the pats give them

Cousin, they'll get you for this ya know and be unmerciful too. Ah yes...there is the tongue in cheek defense.
It is an opinion. I think it is interesting if you really sit down and think about it. My cup of tea? No, but it would be different and fun to watch. Do I think it could be successful? Perhaps, but the whole offense would have to be switched again.

No question that we need a tall field stretcher to compliment the smurfs. It was agonizing to watch. Tate is not the answer and hopefully that experiment is done. Price? Who knows.

I was of the school that said I wish there was some way Moss could stay. Do I think he could have made a difference in just this one game? Absolutely. If you ignore him he becomes relevant and you still have to game plan for him. Revis Island did not have a cake walk in the first game. The only draftable field stretcher is Green and he'll be gone........Yes it's time for agonizing re-appraisal............... To all the Draft-is-the-only-way Cousins, we might have to look at a Trade or quality FA (watch this).Although I have been mentioning Fitz for sometime, I was told it wasn't my idea. I guess I must have been looking for extra credit on that one. Seriously perhaps Jackson or Rice. I would have liked Santana Moss or Smith prior to the Branch deal, but in actuality Ochocinco is a bigger target than either.

Here is a thought. Isn't the aging T.O. every bit as good as Braylon?

At the end of the day, it was Cotcherie who once again killed us with a game turner. One play a game when we lose to the Jets and he does something.

Re: Ochoc Tweets.

Yep I agree.
We do not need a deep threat. This offense is amazing when Brady can make quick reads instead of waiting for a deep threat to get open.
Anyone notice how he did that on sunday??....Brady reverted back to his week 2 form.

lol wut? The Jets took away the outside by simply outmuscling and re routing the WR's and simultaneously taking away the inside with zone. Who did Brady lock onto in that game? A physical widereceiver would have seriously helped Brady and this offense out on Sunday. VJax vs Cromartie, who wins that battle? Seriously...

Re: Ochoc Tweets.

After reading that article. I think the idea is starting to grow on me. If Ochocinco can coexist with BB then I say I'm for it as long as he renogotiates his contract and can keep himself somewhat in check. I think he is still gonna give colorful quotes. And maybe that would make a nice change of pace? I dunno but I hope BB permanently abolishes the benching for 'talk' rule, otherwise this partnership would never work out.

Defense,Defense,Defense.
I've had my share of arena football. 4 of the teams still in the playoffs are in the top 6 in defense.EOS.
Its the teams that battle to win close games all year are the ones that are playoff ready.

Yeah but it's not mutually exclusive. We have needs on defense, but we could also use an outside WR. The Jets game made it clear where our deficiencies are. DE, CB (Butler... ugh), and WR. Probalby need another O-lineman or two also. Now getting Leigh Bodden back may help CB, but who knows how good he's going to be or when he'll actually play again.

So I don't think saying we have needs on defense means we shouldn't grab Ocho. There might be other reasons not to grab him, just that isn't it.

Re: Ochoc Tweets.

This guy is a bum and man i am done with 30+ WR .We have deion and welker will be in a few yrs.

As the steelers develop wallace ,sanders and co in the afc tom is stuck with old WR who will play a year or 2.manning will have collie and garcon joining in when tom will be again with Older WR so we can keep having this coversation every year.

Re: Ochoc Tweets.

We also dont know what we have in Taylor Price. I believe he ran a decent 40 at the combine and there was a lot of promise from this kid coming out of college. I know he sat on the bench this year, but his development in the offseason could be huge and may be this team's deep threat of the future.

Re: Ochoc Tweets.

I still can't fathom what the big deal is about Chad

While the guy is funny and probably a good locker room player,I think he may be the most overrated WR in the past 5 years.

He rarely if ever comes up big in games that mean something and good teams almost always shut him down to a non factor in games.

Unless we are playing the Lions every game next season, you have got rocks in your brain if you think he helps the team...he is about as worthless as a Randy Moss at this point in his career, his days are over,done...probably retirement is not far off.

Did you see Carson Palmer this season?
